Hillary never had to change a tire, never had a reason to be bitter
Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 03:19 AM by usregimechange
She isn't bitter because she has never had a reason to be. She doesn't relate to working class frustrations and in fact yesterday denied, with McCain, that they even exist.

As a white rural voter I do understand working class bitterness and I support Obama because he recognizes and relates to that based on experience. Hillary on the other hand will play the savior of the working class until such time as she doesn't need to for her own political expediency. Why? Because she learned from her experience to manipulate people to get what she wants. Something she would not have learned on the side of the road.

But we should understand that she gets tired and exhausted and being a candidate is hard work. She can't be asked to have cognitive sharpness at 11pm, which is why she would likely repeat her Iraq war blunder and authorize bombing the wrong target again after receiving a particular phone call at 3am.

If I were a television show host I wouldn't ask her to throw a gutter ball. I would ask her to change a tire. I guarantee you my wife and my son know how.

1. Ms. $110 million? She certainly never struggled much.
On the other hand she certainly has been humiliated a lot...by her own husband no less. I"d say she has reason to be bitter.

5. Never struggled much" really? The Clintons didn't have any money when they started out.
Bill never made much money at all and Hillary had to struggle to make money at a firm that had never before hired a woman. She had only begun to make money when Bill decided to run for Prez and she quit.Hillary worked her way through both college and law school. She didn't have anything "handed" to her.

Going to those schools is a ticket to a lifetime of affluence. Obama has lived a privileged existence that probably everyone not named Bill Clinton would trade for.

I mentioned Farrakhan, or excuse me, "minister Farrakhan" as Obama respectfully calls him because everybody knows him. He is an example of the type of rich people Obama lives with.

Hannity? You are parroting him nearly word for word regarding his attacks on Edwards' wealth.

Speaking of hypocrisy, not only are you doing what you once decried why are you attacking the Clintons if you believe there should be no criticism of a candidate here?

73. The Clintons give 10% to charity, give far more in taxes than they would if they took deductions
The Clintons were even attacked in the WSJ for being 50% more in taxes than "normal" for someone of their wealth because they don't take every deduction. Bill explained this by saying he told his accountant to resolve any question that arises in favor of the IRS.

Obama? Just words. He gave 0.4% of his money to charity until he began running for president. The average person--including those in small towns--give over 2%. The difference is they don't have over a quarter million of income each year from their Harvard/Harvard/Princeton/Columbia degrees...

100. Barack and Michelle Obama live in Hyde Park..
a multiethnic, very progressive neighborhood on Chicago's south side.
It's near the University of Chicago, and near 4 seminaries,
as well as many churches and synagogues.

I don't know if Farakkan lives here, but I do know that
Obama's closest neighbor is a jewish rabbi.

Its NOT known as Farakkan's neighborhood,
it's called Hyde Park. I lived near there for years..
Unless you now live there, and things have changed,
and you know otherwise.

Back when I had educational loans at 3% (ah, the good old days) and was going to pay off all my loans at once, my father pointed out that since at the time I could earn more than 3% at the bank, it would be financially better to NOT pay them early, because the money was earning me a bit while still in the bank.

Just saying...

Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 08:34 AM by BearSquirrel2
As a supporter of Barack Obama, I denounce these remarks. I don't think the Clintons existence is charmed. Unlike Bush and McCain, their daddies did not hand them anything. They worked hard to get where they are.

I disagree with the Clintons on the free trade issue. It will be the permanent stain on Bill's legacy. But Bill worked hard to get where he did and implement ALL of his policies both good and the few real big stinkers.

As far as Hillary's presidential candidacy. Well, there is here another type of nepotism. She was declared to be the frontrunner because of her husband. There is some arrogance here. But she does seem to be campaigning very hard. The problem is, I'm not sure she would be any more likely than Bush to read critical materials (like the NIE) instead of relying solely on closest advisors.

Hillary's problem isn't one of work. It's one of judgment.

families to occupy the WH but they were close to broke when they left. Most of her money was from the sale of her boopk. 56. Hillary made most of her money on her book. So what. She also donated a
huge amount to charity. So did Bill. The Obamas gave virtually nothing but then poverty isn't their issue.

heating he failed to provide? Taking credit for legislation that others wrote? Please. His district 11 is in way worse shape than it was before he took it over. He left without bringing any imp rovement to the district he represented. Hillary worked for the Childrens Defense fund and dedicated a large portion of her practice to representing Women and children.

Presidential front runner.

He lived with his middle class grandparents, including his racist grandmother who he bashed on national television to save his neck.

Guess what? Obama will make a lot more than $110 million if he becomes president...

Bill Clinton was the "poorest" person elected president in 100 years. Obama? Millionaire.

85. He's just bringing up Edwards to throw you off.
He's been consistently anti-Obama since he started posting on this site. Not pro-anyone, and certainly not pro-Edwards. He posted one thread that was favorable toward Edwards, and whenever anyone questioned his allegiance he'd always link back to that one thread.

Other than that, it's been consistently anti-Obama. I have a feeling that the poster's only interest is seeing Obama lose in November.

48. Well said! My thoughts.
Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 04:07 AM by quantass
I saw the CNN video clip where they destroyed Hillary and McSame for their intentional misinterpretations of Obama's message...but anyway, Obama is expressing the emotions of neglect that people in hard-hit areas of the country are feeling and how Washington is the cause of it....it is this understanding that because he has tapped into it, into their down-and-out feelings towards their ongoing hardships that he knows exactly how to conquer it....think of it like how a doctor first tries to diagnose an ailment before prescribing a solution....if you cant precisely diagnose the problem (physical and emotional) then you are doomed into prescribing the wrong medicine....Obama has pinpointed the symptoms of frustrations and bitterness and has seen it firsthand and with that one-on-one emotional understanding he knows precisely the prescribed medicine for the job.

The problem with Hillary is that she is giving a canned answer (again) on how the people in PA are happy as they are and there's no big deal...this is a shallow attempt into getting to know what that states real issues are....to use that doctor theme again, it is like trying to diagnose the problem with a patient over the internet or worst still, just guessing...Hillary is saying "take an asprin you will be fine tomorrow"...while Obama is taking the time to understand the full brunt of it all...to be one with them...

I think it is foolish to dismiss Obama and think what he said was some negative attack of some kind...it certainly wasnt...if someone thinks this then they are blind or biased....the speech he gave in Indiana on Friday brought up the exact comments. I just cant figure out how someone is hearing something negative from him towards Pensilvanians when all i see is a precise analysis of that state's issues and how he wants to make a difference for the better....i figure Pensilvanians will appreciate that someone, finally, is taking the time to understand their real issues so that for the 1st time something can be done to help!

Hats off to Obama for wanting to make a difference.

Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 04:16 AM by quantass
Trust me i am not going to bash you or anything...i am intrigued as to how someone can't see this....so please provide proof...i am very interested in hearing your thoughts.

Try not to seem robotic and assume somehow Obama is attacking PA or something, because the guy is pretty genuine when you listen to him.....For example, remember that race speech way back....any other politician would have taken the easy-way out (like Hillary has been doing lately -- e.g. the Columbia thing where she just laughed it off) but he decided to encompass this whole Wright thing into a bigger picture of Race relations for all america to think about...that is pretty grand and was lauded for it...he was once again trying to understand the bigger picture of things...that is the same thing here...

He realizes that people in PA are human beings....havent you ever been down in luck before..I certainly have and i can totally relate to what Obama is saying and how people in the working-class will completely understand what he is saying....it blows my mind that he gets it because that is exactly what is the problem...i am very impressed that he is the only politician that is willing to open up and express "honesty" to the american people...granted i understand why Hillary and McSame fear to do the same because they fear possibly making a mistake and so they decide to take the tried and true course of canned speeches and tell the public what they want to hear....sometimes you have to just be honest with the people.

Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 04:23 AM by quantass
i use to live in a working-class neighborhood and know people that come from them and PA is no different since human beings are the same regardless of stateline borders so your guess doesnt necessarily reflect the entire working-class....what Obama is saying rings true and i applaud him for his bravery to speak that truth....it blows my mind that he is so in tune to say what working-class feel and this can resonate well with people...

Curious: did you even listen to Obama's entire speech or are you relying on that 1-sentence snippet?
