Obama is No Friend of the Working Class
There was a time when the democratic party stood up for the poor and disadvantaged; not be a party to rude and ignorant comments by a politician.

I am PA voter and I am disgusted with Obama. His condescending attitude has come to the forefront once again proving he is totally out of touch not only with PA voters, but with many Americans.

It's time for Obama to switch parties, if he feels he is part of the elite then by all means support the republican policies of the rich.

It's a rotten shame, the democratic party is split due to Obama's lack of understanding what the backbone of our country really is; it's not the elitists, its not the corporations; it's the working class; and they don't need some politician like Obama looking down his nose at them. We are all supposed to forgive and forget Obama's questionable pals, his spiritual leader, etc.; This guy ego is definitely out there; and the working class should speak out against his arrogant remarks.

The people of Pennsylvania deserve an apology from this guy. When will he stop kissing up and pandering to the crowd of the moment??? The democrats once again is backing the wrong horse.

10. Not for many
undecided voters and independents. Those are ones to watch. I really hope the people of PA will give Clinton a double digit lead ; and the superdelegates will finally see that Obama is unelectable in the GE. His showing in Ohio was enough to know this guy does not care about the working class, it was evident then; and even more so now.

But some of his DU supporters are beyond the pale.
And the next minute they turn around and say that Hillary supporters are destroying the party and etc and etc.

In fairness there are plenty of people who do not advance their candidate by ripping the other to shreds. But posting GOP pics that demean a great dem - is a disgrace.

Hang in there cat in the hatster.

And I am merely pointing out that there was a time when Bill Clinton was considered an ally of the Democratic Party and was viewed quite favorably across the board. I think he did the best he could under the circumstances, but until the voters learn to separate the wheat from the chaff, we're going to be stuck with choosing the candidate according to their style rather than their substance. They're basically all alike, I'll admit it. I simply have winnowed my choice down to Hillary.

FDR would never survive politically in the current climate.

I come from a long line of coal miners on both sides, I see what has happened in Pa over the last 40 years and I say Obama has it exactly right. The people of Pennsylvania , far from being offended , should be glad that someone finally seems to understand what is happening to their state. He's right on. It all started with the closing of the steal mills and has continued to this day. Poverty is wide spread and bitterness toward government is everywhere .

My guess is you're just a disgruntled Hillary crusader who will snatch up distort anything that you believe you can use to hurt Obama.

No apology is needed from Sen. Obama.

And seriously, how can anyone say Sen. Obama has a "condescending attitude" when faced with the clueless plattitudes of Sen. Clinton and Sen. McCain, both of which supported policies that have CAUSED the bitterness Sen. Obama cites.

Besides which, there was nothing in what he said that indicated he thought be was part of an "elite" You want elite, look at Sen. McCain or Sen. Clinton.

66. The term "Elitist, Elite,"
Recognize when an attacker uses this word to define his/her opponent, it is meant to divide and separate the opponent from his/her supporters. The "elitist," considers themselves above/better than those he/she is seeking support from thus the supporters should flee because the "elitist," only thinks of them as trash.

What crap!

68. Well, We All KNOW Hillary Isn't !!!
Edited on Sat Apr-12-08 11:04 AM by WillyT
From Jon Nichols - The Nation\Alternet

What is the proper word for the claim by Hillary Clinton and the more factually disinclined supporters of her campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination -- made in speeches, briefings and interviews (including one by this reporter with the candidate) -- that she has always been a critic of the North American Free Trade Agreement?

Now that we know from the 11,000 pages of Clinton White House documents released this week that former First Lady was an ardent advocate for NAFTA; now that we know she held at least five meetings to strategize about how to win congressional approval of the deal; now that we know she was in the thick of the manuevering to block the efforts of labor, farm, environmental and human rights groups to get a better agreement. Now that we know all of this, how should we assess the claim that Hillary's heart has always beaten to a fair-trade rhythm?

Now that we know from official records of her time as First Lady that Clinton was the featured speaker at a closed-door session where 120 women opinion leaders were hectored to pressure their congressional representatives to approve NAFTA; now that we know from ABC News reporting on the session that "her remarks were totally pro-NAFTA" and that "there was no equivocation for her support for NAFTA at the time;" now that we have these details confirmed, what should we make of Clinton's campaign claim that she was never comfortable with the militant free-trade agenda that has cost the United States hundreds of thousands of union jobs, that has idled entire industries, that has saddled this country with record trade deficits, undermined the security of working families in the US and abroad, and has forced Mexican farmers off their land into an economic refugee status that ultimately forces them to cross the Rio Grande River in search of work?

As she campaigns now, Clinton says, "I have been a critic of NAFTA from the very beginning."

But the White House records confirm that this is not true.

Her statement is, to be precise, a lie.

When it comes to the essential test of the trade debate, Clinton has been identified as a liar -- a put-in-boldface-type "L-I-A-R" liar.

75. Yes, there was a time when the Democratic Party...
stood up for the poor and disadvantaged; and then the DLC pushed their third way and took power, and the Democratic Party has been floundering amidst an excess of corporate money ever since. It is Obama who is more likely to bring the Democratic Party back to our honorable roots, not the DLC-loving Hillary.

77. This reads just like someone did a 'Find' Hillary & 'Replace' Obama 'All'
I've read this somewhere else before it was "Edited"
The OP reads like a copy & paste right wing hit piece.

83. Yeah, friend and Walmart board member brings low prices to the working class
and voted a war that gave working class people lots of opportunities in military careers. And had a husband who gave us NAFTA and welfare reform.

But Obama said "bitter".

Remember what happened the last time the working class thought that the guy who used folksy words and was their friend and the guy who talked like a professor was condescending and out of touch? That was back in 2000.

85. I'm not disgusted with Mr. Obama
I just don't think he is ready. He needs some time to learn... what it will be like to represent ALL Democrats. Including those in Mid-America.

Give him time. He will make an awesome president one day!

Congratulations, not an easy feat to pull off.
