During the same speech, he rambled on about the media and their Tuzla coverage, talking about Hillary "misspeaking" and how "they" made a big deal out of it. The entire thing was very strange to watch, was not ex-Presidential nor worthy of Bill Clinton and reeked of desperation and the revival of the same whisper/code word campaign that sunk them in S. Carolina. They do not learn, they do not go away..it won't end well for either of them.

I have thought more than once that Bill is "TRYING" so hard to get her elected, while secretly and knowingly doing incredible damage to her chances of ever getting the nomination, ust to protect his superiority. HE was president, she was merely a failed candidate. if she allowed HIM to run the campaign, instead of Penn, she would have won. If HE had all the authority he demanded early on, she would be battling against McCain and only McCain.

He never wants to share the limelight, except on his terms. Now, seeing her in a position to eclipse him, he is working hard, which undermining the entire campaign.

I don't mean to be Dr. Frist, doing long range psychiatric evaluations from video, but I cannot shake the idea that all of his actions and misfires are deliberate.

Mostly I think they are grasping at whatever they think will win the news cycle of that particular day. It's old-style politics that just isn't good enough this time. It's day-to-day hand to hand combat, rather than an overall theme or message.

As a black voter, I'm accustomed to race-baiting in all its forms, including what Bill Clinton has done over the years, including in the current campaign. It doesn't make him into either angel or devil, because racism is institutional in American society - it's a part of mass communication, it's embedded in our language, it's social as well as individual. No single individual is responsible for it, of course. But if I'm voting for a party or person to serve my interests, I will consider their level of understanding of racial issues based on what they say as well as their policies, and I will notice coded appeals to racist beliefs in the context of politics. It's the oldest trick in a Southern Democrat's book to divide and conquer working classes by race, and as long as we the people tolerate it, it will continue.
