| Tim Russert Show: Christopher Hitchens & Andrew Sullivan |
 |
Edited on Sat Apr-05-08 12:51 PM by malik flavors
Anybody else watching this? They're really letting Hillary have it. I think Tim's a little embarrased.
Edit: Well, they're going after Obama & Wright now, so I guess it's evening out.
Pretty funny stuff though.

How can Hillary be so bad to lose to this "FRESHMAN SENATOR", who's a much better organizer than the Clinton camp is, and Hillary keeps screwing herself with all these lies and "mis-statements".

I'm no Hillary fan, but this kind of smear from Drunky McLie-a-lot really has no place in the debate.

Obama "nailed it" with the Phil "race" speech.... if people listen with open eyes and an open heart, would respect this man, Obama quite a bit. Andrew Sullivan ....
Hitchens pretty much agrees.
Wright's church does a HUGE amount of good works, welcomes gays, etc. Teaches and reaches to a different level and amount of "history pain"...Wright calls for responsibility, as does Obama.
Hitchens wants Obama to denounce Wright and Liberation Theology more.

"Gentlemen, what's the most appropriate reason to hates teh Hillareh?"
"Well, I'm glad you asked that. I think it's because she is teh liah."
"No, no, no, it's because she is full of teh shiteh."
"Please don't display your ignorance. Surely her being teh liah is worse that how full of teh shiteh she is."
"No, you ignorant drunkard! She is so full of teh shiteh that her being teh liah is eclipsed by comparison!"
"Gentlemen, gentlemen! I think it's possible to hates teh Hillareh for both reasons equally! I know I do."
"Well, sir, that's why you're the host."
And away they sail on a river of wankery.

but then who can outpunch those "raw power glutes" of his? If Chris drops his left but once he could find himself kissing canvas in seconds. It all may depend on whether 8 or 16 oz. gloves are mandated for the bout.

| 19. I really suspect that some of this Hillary-hatred has to be demonic in origin. |
 |
It seems way too far beyond anything I've ever experienced. People don't talk about Hitler the way they talk about her. They let Bush's murders go by without comment while racing to the microphones to hold her to impossibly strict standards. They say worse things about her than I remember the racists rednecks I grew up with saying about MLK (and, boy, they hated MLK).
It is actually frightening to watch the way people like Russert and Sullivan and Hitchens -- and dozens of posters here at DU -- talk and think about her. It's pathological, this sick thinking. NOBODY could be as bad as these people say Hillary is -- especially not someone whose life is so public and has been so carefully examined, and who -- except for an occasional stupid overstatement -- has never been shown to be dishonest or unethical in any way.
The dark thinking of her enemies, the mercilessness of it, the viciousness of it, is far more evil than any of her supposed flaws.

| 21. Well, let's just say that they didn't let off Obama, via their Pastorbating about Wright | |
 |
for 2.5 segments off easily either.
In particular Hitchens, who doesn't even believe in God.
Meanwhile Andrew Sullivan, who does believe in God, was letting Hitchens off the hook more than he should have. Wright was literally talked about like he was running for office.
It is amazing how self righteous the press and the media pundits are when it comes to the subject of religion and what is acceptable and what is not. Like, who in the fuck are they to judge? Who died and made them responsible for who's a good Christian and who is not?
I also noticed that nothing was said about the fact that Wright was at the Clinton White House in the hour of the Clintons' needs, as well as the fact that both McCain and Hillary have questionable ties to religious weirdness.
Of course, Hitchens felt that Obama must renounce and denounce every Black person on this earth (because I guess that Black people are not good Americans to be associated with unless they have never spoken in public), and he even attempted to drag Obama's White grandmother into the mix! To pile on, Hitchens went on to link Obama via Wright via Farrakahn to Qaddafi (Libya), while totally ignoring the ties that George Bush has directly to Qaddafi (cause that's who's been talking to Qaddafi).
It was a scary show, because Hitchens is a very scary drunk, and totally un american!
Andrew Sullivan did the best that he could in deflecting the Hitchens nonsense, but his best simply wasn't good enough for me.

 |
Someone said it best when they said,
"Hitchens is so much more objective because he is neither married to a political ideology nor does he look at anything through the prism of religious apologetics."
Sullivan gives a smart analysis, too.
Overall, refreshing and insightful!!
