I don't even hate republicans as much as some of the people here hate some democrats
Edited on Thu Apr-03-08 09:22 PM by grantcart
I like a good fight and enjoy good verbal combat but something else is happening in here right now. I am really astonished at the voluminous threads that spew hate in one form or another.

Some restraint would be a wise investment in achieving a wider goal.

I don't want a Presidency I want a 60 seat senate and a 40 state win.

Those types of victory cannot be built in such a rancorous atmosphere.

Some day these days will be considered the good old days. We should be enjoying this not ripping people to shreds.

Really nothing more to say than that.

2. Indeed. I think it's the "betrayal" aspect of it that really gets people's goat.
But I am focussing on the big picture. We MUST defeat McCain. Period.

6. going down the greatest list, this is the second thread you have posted
which decries boo-hooing. It interesting how you only seem upset by Hillary boo-hooing and not the spew directed at Obama. Unless you are decrying both then this is just flame bait filler until the inevitable happens and she loses.

4. I don't hate republicans at all
hate destroys the container it is in, as evidenced in SOME corners of the democratic party.

I don't hate any group of people based on the actions, that I disagree with, of a few.

I do not hate my fellow Americans, this country was founded on a two party system. The checks and balances.

I would not want to see this country under complete control of either party.

5. I think a good question to ask is how can 1 person create so much negative emtion
towards them? Hold up the mirror Mrs. Clinton, what have you done to create this situation. Don't look to others to change the sentiment. We all have to ask ourselves what could I have done differently to change the situation. In Mrs. Clinton's case she could have run a clean campaign and I for one would not have negative feelings about her.

10. That is a reasonable question
It would be the basis of a thoughtful thread.

Why does HRC generate so many negatives - how much of it is her and how much of it is a sexist reaction.

But what were seeing today is a hateful venomous attack that is not objective or reasonable.

Also, the Obama side has won. We are running out the clock. We should still work hard and be vigilant but we should not even be focusing on the Clintons. We should be confident and magnanamous. Not petty and decisive. No one would be more horrified to see Sen. Clinton take over the party than I would. But that is not what is happening and her supporters are being villified for her mistakes.

11. She said she was going to steal delegates
You may not think that is worthy of hatred, but I do.

If Bush were suggesting the electoral college just vote for him, people would be livid about that.

14. except it was just stupid
those delegates are the truest of the Obama supporters. If your going to get upset everytime somebody in the Clinton campaign say something stupid then you are not going to last the weekend.

And today a number of Clinton SD are signaling that they are edging closer to switching to Obama.

Relax and enjoy this victoruous campaign and continue to fight from the higher ground - like our candidate does.

16. Do people think it's all about Pennsylvania?
Even though she's already lost?? Yeah. Because it's all about the spin. She's been lying about the nomination process since Iowa. Damn near every state. At what point does somebody point to our own party and say it stinks???

18. You can do it with humor, you can do it with logic but when you resort to doing it
with hate your fail.

This has absolutely nothing to do with Hillary Clinton. This has to do with her supporters. Even if you hate Hillary have some decent compassion for her supporters. Some of them are women who are projecting frustration and bitterness at living a long time as second class workers feeling like they get passed up because they aren't men. Some are gays who for whatever reason have become more identified with Hillary as their champion and are suspicious of the homophopia they see in the religious corners of the African American community. Some are admirers of the Clintons who feel that they have always been the victim of witch hunts.

Make your point. Use satire. Use logic. Use wisdom.

But when you express hate you are telling the Clinton supporter that you hate them, that is what they feel and now they hate you and they hate Obama.

Hillary Clinton is never going to read your thread (or mine). Attack and be vigilant just please leave the hate out. You will enjoy it more.

19. Oh satire, humor
Yeah, right.

I've seen some humor and satire that was a lot more vile than "I hate her".

If you prefer some of the sick cartoons and "jokes" over an honest "I hate her", then I think you have a problem. So how about them apples.

Nothing makes me puke faster than self-righteous sanctimony.

Bye.

7. I really wish there was some way to have a win-win situation
But Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton, neither one works anymore (maybe never did).

A cabinet position within the administration... nope.

I'm not seeing any easy answers.

In a way, I almost wish Obama had not run (even though I support him for the nomination) just so the party could have been spared this difficult choice. But I know that is also wrong.

-------

It would have been so much simpler without the Michigan and Florida controversy, and without Superdelegates. Then it'd just be, whoever wins, wins.

So many variables now, so much less like Democracy and so much more like an insiders power struggle, where the powers that be ultimately make the final decisions that will determine the outcome.

A convention battle would be the worst. None of this "Gore compromise" for me. That wouldn't solve the problem, because then whoever was NOT named the VP would still be out in the cold.

-------

But we can't change rules in the middle, whatever that means. Who even really knows what all the rules are? This isn't how it should be.

At this point I'm hoping for some kind of miracle, but I don't even know what that miracle could be.

Maybe it's time for another ignorefest.

There are some in here today who act like they're trying to get us all to fight, and it's very suspicious.

12. This place is filled with right wing verbal memes.
Its in the comments. On the "I hate Hillary" thread at the top of the greatest page, I was reading commentators saying she has the charm of an IRS tax auditor for instance. Tax-collector as bogeyman is pure conservative mythology, and forms of it pop up all over here.

17. DU is a far cry from what it once was.... it used to be great to have lively debate
Edited on Thu Apr-03-08 10:04 PM by ShaneGR
Now it's just a cesspool of hatred and intolerance for the most part. And what I believe to be right wing trolls, lots of em, who are far too mean to actually be liberal. Well, not true, but one can only hope. Every once and a while I find something interesting to talk about.
