Why this needs to end before May and well before the Convention
Edited on Thu Apr-03-08 06:48 PM by Zachstar
There seems to be a big disconnect here between fantasy and reality.

Have a look at these three wiki pages

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_House_elections,_2008

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate_elections,_2008

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_gubernatorial_elections%2C_2008

Notice something interesting about them? Perhaps the date of November 4 ?!

Yes! There is more at stake here than the office of President! A president can't do jack without a congress to back him up! Republicans are EAGER to capitalize on the anger on the lack of democratic action on the Iraq war since 2006. My view is that they do not expect McCain to win. They expect to hold out 4 years by trying to control congress and never acting to set things up for 2012.

So you can see how important it is that this madness that is giving the republicans a clear road to congress!

I can understand that the big Clinton state is PA and I can accept that. We can wait another 3 weeks of McCain gaining support. Yet afterwards if she does not win big. Her staying in the race means continued time we don't have to work for the campaigns to maintain seats in congress and gain filibuster proof majorities.

And don't give me this crap about "Well both candidates can work with the people for seats" Well it does not work that way. Without a presumptive nominee the process if filled with crap like "Well if so and so goes to help so and so does this mean so and so wants an endorsement? OMG!! WTF" We need the nominee working hard right now to help these seats be won so that when (if) there is a democrat in the white house. There will not be a republican or filibustered congress waiting for him/her.

For the sake of the party and our future, this has to end!

4. That does not mean just let the repubs get it back.
They will do nothing but make stupid laws filled with pork but with small additions to discredit Obama when he has to veto the bill.

So not going for a good democratic congress now harms chances for 2012 presidential election.

And there are good people running that need support of the nominee to gain ground on their opponents.

Such as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate_election_in_Minnesota%2C_2008

Yes Congress failed us. Yet while we are angry with them for their failures. We must not think about inaction to maintain the lead. Perhaps they will finally grow up when they do not have the republican spin machine with bush on top sitting on them.

A good democratic congress is the ONLY chance we have of repealing many of the BS policies that got into law under Bush.

10. So let me ask this..
What is the lesser evil?

A republican congress that will likely stop at nothing to discredit Obama

OR

A Democratic congress that sadly did nothing to end the Iraq war. Yet stands to work with Obama much better than the republicans.

3. the congress issue, I've thought the same thing.
we can have the greatest democratic prez in the world but if the congress is primarily repub, he/she and we ALL are screwed.

6. Not just screwed but ruined.
This is what the Republicans are going for. McCain as the president will be wonderful but they know that their chance lies in Congress. And their chances are better thanks to the anger.

This crap must end! We don't stand much of a chance against the Spin machine of the republicans if Obama does not have the time to spend on supporting the congressional campaigns!

9. Thank you!!
Also think about donations! These campaigns could use extra funds from their supporters so that they will gain an extra edge over the republicans!

We got to move on people!! We got to call for this to end!! If PA does not go BIG for Clinton then we need to just admit we have or presumptive nominee and get to work on getting a better future!

12. So this is how things work eh? A big point is made but then ignored in place of hate topics?
The issue is still there tho. Democrats are not going to magically win congress and the support needs to be there soon rather than a panic after the convention.

13. yeah, evidently. too much hate in the world. Hopefully the congress doesn't turn red!!!
I know that Pelosi is running in my town but to be honest, I support her rivals (non repubs) because they are totally against the war and for impeachment! I know there's no way they'll win, but eh, I support them none the less.
