9. Please do not even put Jane in the same sentence as Gore Vidal.
There are people who are historically always on the side of right, and then there is Barbarella.

18. Not by me, and YOU have personally dragged
Richardson, Leahy and others through the mud. The likes of YOU should be the last person on DU whining sanctimoniously about dems who endorse Hillary being dragged through the mud.

22. Wilson was dragged around in 2003-4 by Clintons' pals in DC. BushInc has plenty of Dems
working for their interests.

Carville and Grunwald BOTH KNEW that WH was lying about its involvement and knew it for 16 months before an election and both stayed silent with what they knew to protect the WH while WH flaks were calling Wilson a liar the entire time.

13. Oh, bite me.
Obviously, you're completely ignorant about Gore Vidal. To suggest that this PATRIOT is a traitor is stupidity elevated to the highest level.

As cali said, this is an impressive endorsement.

I happen to think Gore Vidal is one of the greats...in literature, in politics, in civil discourse in this country. Hillary really has bragging rights on his endorsement.

26. uhm. Alrighty then.
Obviously I should have known better than try to speak conversationally on DU. I honestly thought the man was dead. And you know what? It wouldnt be the first time a dead personal has endorsed someone on DU. I read a linkless post claiming an endorsement of a man I thought was dead and somehow Im the ass for responding honestly.

Nice.

25. Hell, Studs Terkel here in Chicago is 96.
Is he supposed to drop dead now or something?

People do live over the age of 80, dear. And we should be damned lucky that people like Vidal and Terkel still are...giving us their wisdom and point of view.

31. Me too. People who have been around politics know the difference between
a "flavor of the month" candidate that people fall head over heels in love with a canny veteran who has staying power, month after grueling month and 'won't let go til they get what they want.

39. Broadcast this morning on Pacifica radio - taped yesterday
I'm not saying he officially endorsed Hillary, but he did say he was (if I may paraphrase in lack of a transcript) "I'm leaning towards Hillary myself", in response to a question by the apparently young host who asked about Obama, obviously expecting a different response than she got from Vidal.

He went on to explain why, so it wasn't a slip of the tongue.

37. Yeah and ...
Gore Vidal has continued to slam Al Gore.

He's been an unending cynic that manufactures and creates negativity.

Check out his comments on Al Gore at:

http://www.gnn.tv/articles/2301/Some_Inconvenient_Truths_About_Al_Gore

I'm not saying Gore Vidal should never question anything or that dissent isn't healthy, but this guy takes it to a new level.

It really makes me scratch my head that he would support Hillary when he's been ready to throw the likes of Al Gore to the wolves.

By doing this he pretty much back stabs himself for a lot of items he's stood against over the years.

He had an excellent interview w/ Henry Rollins on his IFC show. There's a lot of items that were brought up that Hillary stands in contrast to.

So this pretty much makes him just another hypocrite and a mere hack. Sad.

I wonder which candidate Henry Rollins supports? Definately not McSame.

I don't know if Rollins would support Hillary or not, but I know he thinks very hard before making a decision. He really looks up to Gore Vidal, so this could influence him.

The next season of the Henry Rollins Show should be starting up soon on IFC.

No doubt his rant at the beginning of the show will have a hardcore political bent to it.

It will be interesting to see who he supports. I don't see him being neutral.
