Free: Dave Matthews Concert for Obama at Indiana University
Sen. Barack Obama is bringing some star power to Indiana to encourage Hoosiers to register to vote.

Singer Dave Matthews, and his long-time collaborator Tim Reynolds, will perform in a free concert Sunday in Assembly Hall at Indiana University.

The deadline to register to vote is Monday.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are free to anyone with Indiana identification or an in-state student identification, and can be obtained at Obama headquarters in Bloomington, Indianapolis and Purdue.

In Indianapolis, the tickets can be obtained at the Obama office at 2 N. Meridian St. from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday.

For other locations and times, go to www.BarackObama.com/Dave

1. Okay, now I love Dave Matthews.
If he'd just lower the damned guitar instead of playing it up at shoulder level I'd be happy.

He puts on a great show and damn Indiana University, you get lucky.

I agree with how he holds the guitar, but he still plays it like a champ.

15. He does play it like a champ.
Someday, though, I'm gonna send him a big boy guitar with a strap on it that CANNOT be shortened. :)

5. Ugh, I LOATHE Dave Matthews Band.
I heard them everywhere in college and it's really crappy music (imo).

And if it wasn't bad enough, it brings hippies! Argh!

Go Obama anyway!

If he can unite the Boilermakers and the Hoosiers, I'm afraid it might just be the end of the world! But I think even the Boilers will make the treck to Bloomington for a free Dave Matthews concert especially if Obama shows up. My sis and bro both live in Bloomington and work for IU, sis tells me that when the Obama offices opened there it was crazy! She's an Obama independent.

We do have some black sheep Boilers in our family but we only disown them 4 months out of the year...basketball season!

If you are raised properly, according to my father (who attended PU ) But, he's an engineer and you don't go to IU for that. That's like attending PU for medicine!

14. A little over an hour away. I noticed they started giving tickets away in Bloomington tonight
and they don't start giving them away here until morning.

At least I don't have to drive all the way to Bloomington to get the tickets!

I missed him when he was in town and was wondering when he'd be back this way. All the better that he's doing this for Obama!!!

16. I'd rather listen to Dave Mustaine than Dave Matthews.
Dave Matthews Band is the music for rich, white, pseudo-hippies everywhere.

But still, this sounds like it will only help Obama.

25. Only One Ticket
I went downtown Bloomington this evening to get tickets for my wife and I. Barack's Web site says that you can get two tickets per person. I stand in line for 2 hours, and they tell me that I can only get one ticket. They said that the Web site was a misprint (even MSNBC lists "2 per person" on their announcement). So now I have one ticket, and we'll have to find another one to go.

35. Great way to get non voters to register
I believe the Obama campaign made a very intelligent decision to back this concert. Dave is a proud democrat and a huge supporter of Obama. I just spoke to my brother up north and him and his girlfriend just got some tickets. He is 25 and just graduated college. Today was the first time he ever registered to vote! The last thing he said to me before hanging up, "You better believe Obama has my vote!" I would like to join him and his girlfriend if anyone has an extra ticket. Please email [email protected]
Thanks!

26. What's up with all these prep-school hippie stoner bands endorsing Obama?
Who's next? Phish? Ben Harper?

I guess, all in all, it's a good thing. Hopefully these bands will motivate their fans enough to put down the bong on election day and cast their votes for Obama.

If not, it kind of takes the wind out of the "foreign" campaign help argument.
