Edited on Mon Mar-31-08 05:42 AM by susankh4
When Barack said:

"Hillary can stay in this race as long as she wants. Her name's on the ballot. She's a formidable opponent. A long primary season is good for the party."

I actually started to like the man.

I thought to myself ... now there's somebody I could vote for. Heck, if I would just hear the same from his supporters I may even be willing to work with them in the fall.

5. Thanks for saying that, Perry.
Some of his supporters bother me, too.

Especially here at DU. That goes for supporters of both candidates, I like the candidates more than most of the supporters.

3. There might be other reasons to like him, if you let yourself.
He's a strong candidate, a good man, and a Democrat. I sincerely hope that backers of all the other candidates who ran for the Democratic nomination will at least vote for him, if not like him. McCain is the wrong answer to the question of who can help heal our nation.

6. Yes, I know. I have been following his career since 2004.
I have read his books and listened to his speeches.

I just don't want him crammed down my throat by a pack of Hillary haters.

And I am still holding out hope for a combined ticket here..... Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton.

17. I'm not a Hillary Hater
Last July I was still on the fence to support, around September I decided I would support Obama financially becuase I didn't think PA would matter. I mostly came to that decision based upon hearing him speak and reading his book.

I don't hate Hillary. I'm upset with her over the way she's conducted herself in this campaign. If my side wins I think she will be continue to be a decent Senator from NY. She may even make a good govenor who know.

If she's the nominee. I'm a good democrat.

26. And I am upset with the way Obama has allowed Axelrod to run his Campaign
So... we are even on that count. It's all perception, you know.

I liked them both... and supported them both in the beginning. Until Michelle Obama sent that hateful e-mail about Bill Clinton, and I saw the Obama camp going negative in it's pleas for money.

At that point I chose sides.

7. It's pretty common IMO that
Obama and Obama supporters are miles apart. Many do a poor job of representing their candidate.

9. much appreciated susankh4, but you have to admit that
a few of HRC's supporters really cross the lines of etiquette. Since you appear to be one of the more rational Clinton supporters, perhaps you could take a good look around gdp and see the provocation offered by some of her more rabid supporters. Surely you caught the flamefests instigated by one of her most ardent N.C. supporters over the weekend, and hopefully you would admonish one of your own as well.

Like you, I'll try to separate Hillary from her supporters on this board, but it's getting harder and harder to do that.

That was behavior deserving of a mass TS, IMHO. I guess the mods are more tolerant than I am.

24. Actually I don't know what you are talking about here:
"flamefests instigated by one of her most ardent N.C. supporters"

But I do know that on any given morning, when I sign in, there will be at least a dozen meaningless Hillary hate threads. And, now the hate seems to be extending to dems that support her. Like Rendell and Nutter.

It is really important (if we are to win November) that Barack and Hillary's supporters learn to have healthy argumants and, at the end of the day, make up and be family.

Edited on Tue Apr-01-08 09:50 PM by Tarheel_Dem
certainly is not one-sided. I will have to call upon my better angels to help me do it, but if she somehow manages to become the nominee, I'll have to summon strength from somewhere to vote for her.
But I think it's less than intellectually honest to pretend that some "progressives" don't have a real problem with Hillary. That's not meant to be a slam, but I'm sure it will be perceived as such.

And as for Rendell...no love for Fast Eddie at all, and I don't know if he's term limited, but I hope the good people of PA show him the door.

16. Please work with us in the fall if Obama wins the nomination!! We have got to remember what is at
stake here. We all need to stick together and remember that a candidate is so often poorly represented by the people who are campaigning for him. We're just human beings, after all, prone to overreaction and general drama. We've got to get this country back on its feet.

BTW. I LOVE your Frida icon. I lived in Mexico City for 6 months and I visited her houses and studios many times. I just love her.

19. That's because the
polls said people were getting very angry that Hillary was being pushed out! Especially the states that haven't voted yet. It was simply a political ploy and quite transparent!

Oldest trick in the book, let your surrogates do the dirty work, while he looks squeaky clean!!

23. Both sides have their share of shitheads on DU.
But seriously, let's not pretend that DU is reflective of the real world. If you met your biggest DU adversary in real life, chances are you'd get along with each other great. We're just passionate and anonymous, a combination that can sometimes lead to being a dick.

People are saying what they want to say when they meet you face to face. I think it's scarier personally.
