Let me put it clearly, Do you really want Obama to win? Then shut up with the Clinton quit talk!!
I really want Senator Obama to be the democratic nominee for president but these calls by Leahy et al for her to withdraw will backfire!! I think the superdelegates, as I have said, should have ended this a long time ago, but since they have not, there will be more voting. THEREFORE, Obama needs to reach out to the 58% voting block that will be voting in the next 10 primaries! What is this block? It's women. You want to know how Senator Clinton wins? It's if you activate this voting block to vote in record numbers as they did in New Hampshire to save Hillary Clinton as they are so justifably excited about a woman having a shot to be president!

Do NOT enrage them. Do not GANG up on Hillary. Do not say "she should endorse Obama" as Leahy said. Good way to lose them 60-40. Court them. Let Hillary continue to screw up with Bosnia gate gaffes and screw up by continuing to be negative!

Do not gang up on her. Do NOT make her a victim.

If I were Obama's campaign team, I'd be toning down this talk real fast. Let her twist in the wind. Don't let her say the "boys club" is trying to force her out. That's a surefire way to lose.

I'm not demanding anything of anyone; just stating my passion that this is clearly what Obama needs to do to prevent a backlash.

3. No...there's a lot to the argument about the mothers of America
stepping in to save Hillary in NH, on Super Tuesday after S.C. and in Ohio, TX and Rhode Island. Every time that she is on life support, she's been saved by the women of America.

I'd encourage her to stay in. I'd encourage her to stay in all the way to the convention if she wants. Awesome way to may be even win the female vote if you do that.

When your opponent is self destructing, step out of the way.

4 million voters is good for the party. Now if after the 22nd she either loses or only wins by a couple of points then I say yes-time to get out

It's pure strategy in my mind. Barack has to prevent a tidal wave of angry women saving HRC once again. Each time this could have ended, women have said "no not yet."

Comments by Leahy are a major turn-off. They've lost this Dem.

You are incorrect in that this should have ended a long time ago.

46. Look in the mirror...
Your candidate goes on the campaign trail, along with her surrogates, and calls Obama's young voters (aka myself for instance) delusional, a cult, etc. And in one case, old Buffenbarger (who Hillary did NOT apologize for or criticize), "I've got news for the Birkenstock-wearing, latte-sipping, Prius-driving, trust-fund babies..." Way to alienate a core demographic of the party asshole-barger.

9. hmmm - uh no, she needs to be told to stand down.
And she is now being gently shown where her seat is. It has to be done. She has had every opportunity to arrive at the realization that her cause has failed all on her own, and she has refused to do so. Her destructive decision to 'throw the kitchen sink at Obama' in the hopes that something would hurt him so badly that he would be forced to withdraw has also failed. Along the way she managed to fatally wound herself with her own self inflicted and massively ironic sniper attack. It is over. They may have to use the hook to get her off the stage, but it has to be done.

13. You are probably right.
In the end, this must be Senator Clinton's decision. She can't be bullied into this; otherwise, her supporters will truly despise Obama and his supporters and we may never ever be able to patch things up between the two opposing camps.

It would be very hard to be in Clinton's shoes right now. She is being driven in opposing directions by two vigorous forces.

If we are going to win, we need (and should want) to win graciously, and not like stupid bullies.

26. First of all, most of America doesn't even know who their own
Senators are. And I can guarantee you that in Vermont- where just about everyone knows Pat, the reaction was overwhelmingly positive. Ol' Pat is far more popular here than hilly is with her constituents and Vermonters, by and large, don't have any use at all for her. Anyway, he wasn't addressing most Americans, Mags dear; he was addressing the uncommitted SDs and with them, tough shit for you, he does have clout. He's one of the most powerful dems on the Hill. Duh. Why do you think it's getting so much press. Furthermore, Pat Leahy is all of 6 years older than your dear hilly. So if he's old, so is she. It's just he really does have experience- he's been in the Senate for 34 years. Oh, and I doubt he'd give a flying fuck what you think.

17. I don't think it matters. Obama already has this locked up.
Even if women in the remaining primaries and caucuses vote in the percentages that you suggested for Clinton, that won't get Clinton enough delegates. And remember that Obama will still win African American women. And he will also win the male vote. These constituencies will for the most part balance out the women's vote.

19. I think she should be able to stay in as
long as she wants....AS LONG AS she plays fair. I heard a radio pundit today liken this to the Super Bowl...when one team is down at the half, they don't throw in the towel. HE was making a case for Hillary, but the connection I saw was that in a Super Bowl there are referees so no one gets too violent. THAT'S what we need. she shouldn't be able to continue, knowing that she can't win just to tear down the other candidate or the party.

what the sane, healthy course of action is.

She needs to start the process of letting go.

Her sickness is impacting her supporters, the Democratic party and the prospects for the 08 Election.

23. But dems need women voting in huge numbers in November
If women stay home....., all the males are going to vote for Macho Mccain:( Then again, we need huge African American turnout to win as well. They'll stay home if this is stolen. So.......

I think a joint ticket is a neccessity to win. Obama doesn't have to worry too much about Clinton sabotaging him and Bill Clinton out there sabotaging him. He will be the president and if she is destructive, VP Clinton can assume the traditional role of VP's going to funerals of foreign dictators at President Obama's discretion.

I've been knocking it around most of the day. It's one thing if Democratic leaders want to say something like it, but I think it's better if Obama's surrogates do not. There is a danger of turning Clinton into an object of sympathy and Obama being tagged the villain trying to push her out of the running. It's not a good strategy, imo.

It is very unproductive on both sides. I think many Clinton supporters have already left the site because of they way they are treated and that's a bad sign if it reflects in any way the general electorate.

It would be very refreshing to see some of Obama's supporters attempt to emulate him in a positive fashion. I have to routinely remind myself that some people on this board do not represent their candidate.
