Arkansas primary today!! Voted and was met in the parking lot
Edited on Tue May-18-04 06:25 PM by devrc243
with people trying to get enough names petitioned to put "ban gay marriage," on the ballet in November. It's a huge issue and Bush is it milking to the bone.

1. You could sign it falsely, as a basis for later invalidation.
But it would be wrong.

4. Actually when she approached me
I asked her if she was supposed to be so close to the "polls" and she said she had to stay within a 100 feet. WELL, the parking lot was huge, so there were MORE on the other side with their banners and clipboards. She said they wanted to make sure marriage remained safe between a man and a woman...

I didn't know it was in trouble...:eyes:

7. Bad idea.
Highly unlikely that it would be caught, and you'd just be inflating the numbers.

2. Yeah, screw the economy, screw the jobs, screw inflation, screw
the national debt, screw the torture, we've got gays to bash and morality at stake. Bush couldn't prioritize a company, how did those fundies ever expect him to prioritize a country?

15. You have a great bumper sticker there, which you didn't see...
After

"screw the economy, screw the jobs, screw inflation, screw...",

I expected

...but don't you dare screw your partner".

Needs a little work, but you get the idea.

3. I would be in favor of banning marriage for people who

want to ban gay marriage.

Its best if we dont encourage them to reproduce.

I think I'll ask and offer to sign such a petition if I'm asked about one banning gay marriage.

6. When the ban gay marriage thing was on the ballot in CA
I saw a couple of woman with a table in front of the grocery store. The were handing out a flier and I got one.

The flier said that the two women were your neighbors and that they had kids in the local school and that they went to the local church and paid their taxes and went to work every day and that they were lesbians and only wanted the same rights everyone else had. And asked people to vote against the gay marriage ban.

I was so proud of them for doing that.

8. The republicans are doing this because they want an issue on
the ballot in swing states that will get out the conservative vote.

Apparently all these initiatives are doing miserably. People just don't care.

If they get on the ballot, it will definitely hurt Kerry, but hopefully not much.

So, do waht you can to stop these initiatives. Write letters to the press, talk to your friends, but don't do it in a way that creates divisiveness and makes people want to sign the petitions.

10. I hope that this measure does not make it onto the ballot
You can see Karl Rove's dirty slimey fingers all over this tactic.

9. I'd simply sign as "Fuck You"
Be funny if they were so dumb that they thought that was a real name.

12. I'd be careful about that

might be a misdemeanor.

Might be difficult to prosecute - and the authorities might not want to bother - but purposely defacing such a doucment or misrepresenting yourself might be illegal.

14. If I got prosecuted for midemeanor it would be worth it
It would make national media attention and I'd get to be a guest on crossfire and talk about why those people are assholes.
