Obama could have said : If MY spouse was diddling a 22 y/o kid at work and
under my own roof, she wouldn't be my spouse anymore.

But he hasn't.

Glass houses, Hil. Think about it.

43. "you don't choose your family" is wrong on a deeper level. Friends are like family, you accept them
Sure, they aren't perfect. Some friends might even have a few atrocious views, but that doesn't mean you end the friendship over one or two issues.

The most disturbing thing about the whole Wright controversy, is the idea that our politicians shouldn't have any friends that say anything most of the public dislikes. I'm sorry, but I don't want my leaders acting like judgmental jack***es.

8. Obama doesn't want to run a "politics of personal destruction" campaign.
Hillary is willing to be complicit in the assassination of Rev. Wright's character.

I bet if we taped you for your whole life, we could get a bunch of nice juicy statements equivalent to Rev. Wright's.

I'm sure I've said quite a few incindiary things also.

And the word you use, "Weird", doesn't really fit. I find your use of it weird.

and she is way older than 22.

You see Chelsea getting grilled by anyone? Talk about kid gloves.

I wonder how happy Hillary would have been with a man that did that to Chelsea when she was 22.

20. Chelsea is a 28 year old child ..earning a 6-figure salary
(thanks to Mom & Dad's connections)...but somehow, she's still wrapped up in that same old comfy cocoon they spun for her when she WAS a child..

EVERY parent thinks of their kids as "kids"..no matter how old they are (our "baby" is almost 30, but we still see that toothless little goofy grin of his when he was 5..every now and then)...BUT in FACT, once they reach 21, they are "launched" into adulthood, and should expect to be treated like every OTHER adult..

Had Chelsea still wanted the Greta Garbo treatment, she should have stayed off the campaign trail..

By putting herself up there on a stage, with a microphone, as an official spokesperson, she GAVE up her privacy..and she SHOULD be questioned.. To act indignant about being asked a "personal question" was the odd part..

A better response would have been " That whole ordeal is behind us"..next question please?

The decisions that a woman makes at 22 should be respected as the decisions of an adult.

There was never any suggestion that she was coerced.

33. That's not what I was implying. Sorry if it came out that way.
I wasn't trying to get a dig in on Bill or insinuate exploitation. If you are over 18 you can have sex with whomever you wish. And if you are a grown person, 40, 50, 90, whatever and someone who's 18 (or 22) wants to hop in the sack with you, it is by no means illegal. Unseemly and a little creepy maybe, depending on circumstance, but that's none of my business nor do I care.

All I was saying is that a 22 year old intern IS a "kid" when compared to her 50+ year old boss and leader of the free world. (And if Bill can call Obama a "kid" even though he's 40-something, I'd definitely put a 22 year old Monica Lewinsky squarely in the "kid" category... and to top it off I don't exactly think she's the brightest bulb on the tree either.)

The worst I will say about Bill is that it was a grandiose display of poor judgment. But who hasn't been guilty of that?

29. Quite often, yes.
Or so a good number of neuro-scientists say. My son is a very responsible 21 year old, and yes, in some ways he's still a kid. If he had a boss who was 30 years older than he, and who engaged in a sexual liason with him, I would be none too pleased with said person. duh. It's about the power and age imbalance. Oh, and I believe Monica was 21 when Bill had her drop to her knees and blow him in the Oval office. As a feminist I condemned it then and I condemn it now. That said the OP is nonsense.

Infidelity is not necessarily a good reason to break up a marriage. Insane rants by the senior pastor of a church are a good reason to leave that church.

that's not necessarily true. If you'll recall, there were quite a few women's groups who thought Hillary should leave Bill, once we found out he LIED about it. So, in this case, Bill's not related to her by blood, and she could have left anytime, but that wouldn't have been politically expedient.

The actual physical relation wasn't the problem. It was the power relation inherent as a result of their social positions. It was an abuse of power over a subordinate.
