Does anyone think Bill Clinton is jealous of Obama?
Edited on Wed Mar-26-08 02:46 PM by senseandsensibility
It is not like him to be personal in his campaigning. He was always the sunny candidate, full of hope (is the irony strong enough for you?) until this race. He let others do the dirty work. But Bill started the racially charged comments and was aggressive before Hillary was. He seems to be driven by personal motives, IMHO, as well as political ones.

He may be jealous of a younger, good-looking male political star. Perhaps he's not even aware of it himself. But if not, why was he able to keep his cool while being ripped to shreds during the nineties? What's different now?

1. It's not himself that is the target...
But someone he loves. Its the instinct to defend and protect...or maybe not

20. Yeah
I am not defending his action, just came up with a plausable reason why he is being an ass.

2. He is used to being the star of the party and does not
like the attention Barack is getting. In addition, he used to be considered the "first black president" and he is no longer favored in the black community.

4. I suppose so
I just never saw him as a jealous person before. But then again, this campaign is bringing out character traits in both Clintons that I wasn't aware of.

7. This campaign must be problematic for him in a dozen ways.
He's used to being the smart one, the able one, the one that gets attention, the one with a big staff, the one people come to see -- this list must be really long.

Who wouldn't miss that? :)

10. What the heck does THAT mean?

How does Michelle stack up to the last several people Bill has had sexual relations with?

(Hillary doesn't count.... since the two of them likely haven't had sex in years).

See? I can be as tasteless as you.

15. Steinem says "yes"... We want to be masculine by association
She says that white men view black men as more virile

that we want to be near them to assuage our insecurities

I suppose if we were frustrated in that unconscious urge...

and some unresolved issues regarding sexual orientation were a factor

that attraction/frustration/rage might well be at the core of irrational hostility

just kidding... I'm a dropout... not a clue

24. Bill feels as though Obama just ran right by him and Hillary because they were too...
slow to claim the prize. Obama took the urgency of now while the clintons were still doddering around in the 90s. Looking back forward. He's upset that Obama isn't waiting his turn. If it didn't happen now for Obama it wasn't going to happen. Politics is that way. You have to go for it now while you're in the minds of many.

27. The Clintons are clueless with regard to "Change" They are Republicrats
She states that the 90s aren't so bad. As for race baiting. Neo-cons... oops I mean Dems like the Clintons who are centrist always know how to race bait by insinuation. They use code words. They use Republican tactics like the 3 a.m. ad. They vote like Republicans - IWR... Kyle/liberman... the bad bankruptcy bill and they expect people to trust them for what they did... way back when. They are essentially Republicrats. Dems who think like Republicans

28. I doubt it... I just thing Big Dog is getting old and worn out...
He's tired... he hasn't been well... didn't he have heart surgery? People's personalities have been known to change after any major surgery, and there's a whole syndrome associated with heart surgery.

Why would a two-term president be jealous of a young upstart? Makes no sense to me.

I think Bill is just trying to pull out all the stops and help his wife. Lord knows he owes her that. The problem is, both Clintons are working under the old campaign meme of dirty dancing... and the world at large is tired of that routine. And I seriously think that had Hillary been a man, a lot of this "bitchy" crap would never have been flung at her/him. Men can still get away with a lot more in this regard.
