So Who's the Weaker Candidate?: Karl's advise to Obama campaign
<snip>
Former Bush chief political strategist Karl Rove already answered the head scratching question GOP strategists are pondering of whether Obama or Clinton is the easier mark for McCain. In an open memo which got almost no media play and zilch public attention last December, Rove spit out six things Obama should do to zap Clinton.

Obama has followed the script to the letter. He's unleashed an all-out no holds barred attack on Clinton's personality, record, and demeanor, and even tossed in some blatant racial digs at her and hubby Bill for supposedly demeaning Dr. King, Jesse Jackson, and of course himself. He's made bold, brash, and loud pitches and promises to do everything from end the war to clean up the economy. This fulfills Rove's admonition to him to stop sounding wishy-washy on the big ticket issues and create an aura and persona of confidence, expertise, and even invincibility about himself.

4. The CC is back to
that "projection" thing-where you accuse your opponent of doing the exact same thing that YOUR campaign is doing

20. Projection is Rovian politics at its clearest
Take your weakness, and your opponent's strength, and attack your opponent on it.

The media are lazy, generally, and don't catch on.

2. fuck Karl Fucking Rove
who listens to him anyway? He doesn't know how to "win" an election-he was pretty good at STEALING them but not winning anything fair and square-you know like they SHOULD be won

9. Axelrod actually KNOWS how to run a presidential campaign
that can win-Rove only knows how to play dirty politics and steal elections-you know kind of like the way the CC is trying to do. Anybody remember pre-2000 election how the Bush cabal was trying to figure out some way to change the rules of the election to what they thought was their best chance; the popular vote over the electoral college?

Isn't it funny how when we heard Evan Baye the other day trying to float the same kind of bullshit to win-VERY Rovian-step off with your projection-ism bullshit Crisco

13. You Think?
Hillary supporters are *not* the group that's been attempting to shut down sensible debate.

10. That was not my point at all.
In case it wasn't clear, my point was that a Democrat running for President promising to end the war and fix the economy can hardly be said to be something "out of the Rove playbook." It's out of the book of the bleedingly fucking obvious.

14. Interesting tactic
but a hollow one. Who was it that bragged about her and a repub being so great as opposed to some lowly (in her mind) new dem? What couple was it earlier this week that looked forward to a campaign between Hillary and McCain, two people who love their country, implying that the other guy in the race doesn't? And what's with that right wing prayer club she's been involved with since the 90s?

If you're trying to play him off as a tool of the right I think you've got a bit of work ahead of you, she's got the better claim to the spot I'd think and going back for more years. When was the last time she put as much effort into attacking ANY republican as she's putting into tearing down this dem, a dem who happens to be the odds on favorite for our nominee? She could have run a clean campaign instead of scorched earth, fair instead of with harsher and less honest tactics than she seems willing to use against the repubs. A joint ticket still might have been possible then. Not now.

Clinton isn't in trouble because of her sex, because of right wing lies, or because of some affirmative action program. She's in trouble because she mismanaged her money badly and early so ran short at critical times, she pulled the same mistake Giuliani did by not campaigning in a lot of States so that gave Obama huge delegate wins in those. She expected him to be gone in the early polls and he matched her in those, then on Super Tuesday, then after Texas, and when she couldn't put him away on any of those she started in with the kitchen sink attack.

She's in trouble due to poor campaigning, mismanagement, ego, and misplaced aggression, her own. The excuses and trying to pass the blame or attention off onto others is not only tired but at this point transparent.
