no, but I do add people to mine routinely.

It makes my visits into GDP much more pleasant. I don't see all the replies in threads that I read nor do I see the disruptive threads started by a group of people.

But I don't go out of my way to find these people... if they happen to post something very obnoxious, I add them to my list.

What's your problem with that?

It takes all of about 2 seconds to click three times and return to the post with the back button.

If I didn't, I would either get mad and have no outlet (other than co-workers who don't deserve it) or I contribute to the diatribe by writing back (which is good for me but consumes way more time than adding to the ignore list).

After the party has a nominee, I'll take everyone off my list.

And it's not a set of enemies, just a set of people that are supporting a non-Democratic candidate for President (IMHO).

Anyway, what difference could it possibly make to anyone here if I (or others) manage buddy/ignore lists?

There are Clinton supporters who are insisting a list of those to be ignored was widely disseminated to Obama supporters. I don't know of any who have actually received such a list. I do know I haven't received it. Perhaps there was something, I don't know, but I think it's become enormous in the telling and retelling. I think it's silly, too. I do use my ignore list, but I don't need anyone telling me how to do it.

I'm an Obama supporter who is evidently "not cool" enough to have received any lists from anybody whatsoever. In fact, several Obama supporters have me on ignore, while I am quite friendly with several Hillary supporters (they know who they are!!!).

If I put somebody on ignore (I haven't in awhile) it's because I am ignoring them. They are not my enemy, but in my opinion they do deserve to be ignored by me for my own reasons which are nobody's business but my own. Ignore is simply a legitimate tool put in place by the owner of this private message board for a reason. DU also has the right to delete the accounts of those who spam and disrupt these message boards. They also have the same right to enforce the rule that you cannot proclaim to not support the "presumptive" Democratic nominee when they determine there is one. That also is not an enemies' list, but simply a tool used to keep this entire board in line with its philosophy in supporting the Democratic Party.

So being here a little over a month it probably is not a good idea to paint with a broad brush, condescendingly lecturing posters and labeling them as sad if they do not line up with your narrow definition of the use of the ignore function.

Reading a book is more of a life than reading a thread? As Salinger said, you kinda want to talk with the author, and here you have a chance (to talk to the author of a post). Because I, in fact, am a real live person, and I assume you are too, even if I will never learn your "real" name or know very much about you. That happens most of the time in "real" life too. We all hide "the stranger" even from our closest companions. For an extreme example, how many people "knew" the BTK killer without knowing that he was, in fact, the BTK killer?
