1. Kickety kick kick
I thought of adding another choice: "Kink" but I think it's too late for that.

2. Does "let it sink" also include not starting
divisive threads, as well?

I've never started a negative thread about either of them.

But I think you ought to trust yourself and how you feel in regards to
your question.

5. What are "divisive" and "nasty" comments? Genuine anger? Why should that be censored?
I'm unsure as to what you mean. If you're just talking about the "Obama ate his grandmother" ... "Bill Clinton is the spawn of Satan" threads, then absolutely.

I wish there was a scripted way to lock everyone in GD:P to one ID -- that might help things, but I'd imagine it would be hard to write.

but whenever I break that one it comes right back at me, only worse.

10. I wouldn't support someone who did that "unto my party"
Silence isn't peace -- it's just the absence of surface conflict. That is far more destructive.

14. you're right, I thought of another choice, blinkwink&slink to cover just about
everything else.

If I don't want someone else's party to poop on mine, the first thing
I need to do is not poop on theirs. then I can have a good debate.
Otherwise it's just alot of party pooping and alot of poop, and worse.

18. That's not divisive or nasty -- it's my personal feeling. I think she should for this.
Edited on Sun Mar-23-08 05:56 PM by melody
All you're doing by insisting no one express genuine emotion is drive it underground where it
becomes more destructive.

Divisive is "Obama is a knife-wielding psycho whackjob" not "I think he should boil in oil".

45. No, dear, that wasn't a personal attack
If I'd called you a hypocrite, that might be considered one. If I said you were a self-righteous prig who can't tolerate disagreement, that would be a personal attack. But simply saying "I was pointing out your hypocrisy" is not a personal attack.

Criticism of Obama according to the Obama mob
"Let it sink" is part and parcel with the larger program they have which has reduced the share of Clinton supporters at DU from 20% to 5% in almost a month. They won't rest until it is 100-0 for obama here.

7. You left out a very important option
Edited on Sun Mar-23-08 04:34 PM by Tom Rinaldo
"Let it sink - don't respond to threads that contain information that might be damaging to my chosen view of my chosen candidate, even if it potentially is valid and/or intellectually honest"

I believe "Let it sink" is being urged as a tactic in those cases also. Your poll choices make it seem like it is only being considered for dishonest smears and intentionally divisive threads. I do not believe that is the case.

I think your intentions were clear that "Let it Sink" was proposed for vile threads. I just added some related commentary that I think fits on this thread.

As far as I can tell, the original intention was to not respond to obvious flamebait, and not to ignore *anything* negative. Some of my compatriots seem to have gone off track a bit, and need some thicker skins.

19. How about "Change the tone"
People can disagree and criticize either candidate. It's the nastiness and bitterness that shouldn't be responded to.

Don't take the flamebait. But responding to distortions and insisting on the facts doesn't mean you have to be nasty in return.

25. I will choose to let it sink, if it is obvious flamebait .
The few times I have chosen to respond, it has been to correct false information posted unintentionally.

People have basically made up their minds by now. They support Hillary or Barack or can't stand either and will sit the election out.
