Kerry fans: in case you missed it: Zell on Kerry
New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, who was in the audience, called the speech "a clear move to the center, and I'm glad. The election is going to be won in the center." Sen. Zell Miller, D-Ga., a supporter of the president, dismissed Kerry's speech and claimed in a statement issued by the Bush campaign that Kerry is "out of touch with mainstream American values."

3. Why the hell was Zell invited to this thing?
He's not a Democrat anymore -- not even a DLCer.

4. Was he actually there?
The article isn't clear. It just says the Bush campaign issued a statement from Zell.

If he was there, that would be utter bullshit. He's working for the enemy.

6. The article doesn't actually say Zell was there. Additionally, JK is not
saying anything to the DLC that he has not been saying elsewhere. If Richardson said this to woo those voters in the "middle"--so be it.

12. I don't think he was there, but he made other comments
It's from the WT, so...

Snip....

Sen. Zell Miller, Georgia Democrat, yesterday said Mr. Kerry, "is at odds with the DLC in so many ways," including defense issues.

Mr. Miller said Mr. Kerry wants to "outsource" American foreign policy to the United Nations, has voted against things like body armor for the troops in the past, and offered no real alternatives in his speech yesterday, beyond what Mr. Bush is already doing to win the war against terrorism.

"For Senator Kerry to try now, all of a sudden, hocus-pocus, to become a centrist is like a chicken trying to swim. It's impossible," Mr. Miller said.

MORE..........

snip......

The Bush campaign concedes neither the national-security terrain nor the idea that Mr. Kerry is or ever was a centrist, let alone a deficit hawk. On Friday it arranged for Senator Zell Miller, the Georgia Democrat who is supporting Mr. Bush, to assert that Mr. Kerry was an extreme, out-of-touch liberal who had proposed $1.9 trillion in new spending. "Kerry's spending can only be paid for with higher taxes on all Americans and would derail the economic recovery sparked by President Bush's pro-growth policies," Mr. Miller said in a statement.

Bush Campaign Sends Zig-Zag-Zell on Misleading Attack Mission

Thu Apr 29, 5:28 PM ET

To: National Desk

Contact: Chad Clanton or Phil Singer, 202-712-3000, both of John Kerry (news - web sites) for President, Web: http://www.johnkerry.com

WASHINGTON, April 29 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Kerry campaign spokesperson Chad Clanton issued the following statement today in response to Senator Zell Miller's conference call attacking John Kerry on homeland security:

"In yet another misleading attack, the Bush campaign today sent out Senator Zell Miller to distort John Kerry's record on homeland security. Zell Miller attacked John Kerry on the same issue he defended Max Cleland on two years ago. Today we were reminded of why half the American people don't believe this President anymore, and of why they call Sen. Miller 'Zig Zag Zell.'"

Then...2002

Cleland Falsely Attacked for not Supporting Homeland Security

Zell Miller Calls it "SLANDER"

"An already nasty race for one of Georgia's two seats in the U.S. Senate has taken an even uglier turn. What the ad fails to point out is that Cleland supported the creation of a Department of Homeland Security before the president did. Cleland also voted for Democratic-authored legislation to establish the new agency when it cleared committee earlier this year, according to an analysis by Associated Press special correspondent David Espo. The Department of Homeland Security bill currently is hung up in the Senate, where amendments to the proposed legislation are the issue...Zell Miller, Georgia's other Democratic Party senator, was also furious about Chambliss' ad. "My friend Max deserves better than to be slandered like this." (Gainesville Sun (Georgia), 10/16/02)

Now...2004

John Kerry Falsely Attacked by Bush-Cheney 2004's

Zell Miller for the EXACT Same Thing

-- Zell Miller Hosted a Conference Call With Reporters to Help the Bush/Cheney Team Push the Same Lies Against John Kerry

-- Zell Miller Makes False Reference to John Kerry's Votes as Being AGAINST the Homeland Security Department

-- Zell Miller Completes "Zag" After His 2002 "Zig" to Protect Max Cleland From These Same Exact Lies

-- FYI: Zell Miller & John Kerry BOTH voted FOR the Creation of the Homeland Security Department After it Was Opposed By the Bush Administration (Senate Roll Call Vote number 249, 11/19/02)

14. Thanks. Chad Clanton good spokesperson for JK in the South; he is about
as Southern as you can get--and he is quick on his feet. Great asset for JK in the South!

As for Zell Miller, he is a disgraceful human being--along with Saxby Chambliss, whom CNN deigns to have on frequently to spew the GOP party line--despicable on the part of CNN.

8. Zell- why are you sticking around?
What's the point of him staying in the Democratic party? He votes against us at every opportunity, he doesn't support our candidate and undermines him whenever he has a microphone in front of him...

I don't get it- why doesn't he just go over to the other side of the aisle?

9. He works for the WH.
He's doing what he can to make the Dems look bad while he poses as a Dem himself. He's a repuke. LUCKILY, he's not running for reelection. I think he's blindsided every Dem who voted for him. He's a traitor to his constituents. They voted for a Democrat to represent them and look at what they ended up with! :grr:
