OBAMA’s UNFAVORABILITY RATINGS CONTINUING TO RISE
Daily Presidential Tracking Poll

Friday, March 21, 2008

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows Likely Democratic Primary Voters evenly divided the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination. Nationally, Barack Obama now holds a statistically insignificant one-point advantage over Hillary Clinton, 45% to 44%. Before the story broke about his former Pastor, Obama led Clinton by eight percentage points. Today’s results are identical to those just before Obama’s Tuesday morning speech (see recent daily results).

Nationally, 51% of all Likely Voters said that speech was good or excellent. Just 21% said poor. However, 56% remain concerned about Obama’s relationship with Pastor Jeremiah Wright. See Obama’s Speech.

On Friday, Obama’s favorable ratings remain little changed from recent days—48% favorable, 50% unfavorable. Before the Pastor Problem became big news, Obama was viewed favorably by 52%. One month ago, he was viewed favorably by 56%. The number with a Very Unfavorable opinion of Obama has increased from 26% a week ago to 33% today.

On Friday morning, Obama was given a 41% chance of becoming the next President while McCain was given a 40% chance. That’s a big change since the beginning of the month when Obama was given a 58% chance of winning while expectations for McCain were at 36%. The bottom line is that March has been a very good month for John McCain. But, a Rasmussen Reports video notes that a good month of March doesn’t get you to the White House, that requires a good day in November. There is at least one major issue standing between McCain and a victory celebration in November.

76. Your post of the Rasmussen DELIBERATELY OMITTED the following paragraphs....
Edited on Fri Mar-21-08 06:48 PM by earthlover
Yet you did not acknowledge that by either .... or by saying snip.

Here is what you left out....

"McCain is viewed favorably by 54% of voters nationwide and unfavorably by 43%. For Clinton, those numbers are 43% favorable, 55% unfavorable (see recent daily results).

Looking ahead to the General Election in November, John McCain continues to lead both potential Democratic opponents. On Friday morning, McCain leads Barack Obama 49% to 41% and Hillary Clinton 51% to 41% (see recent daily results). New polling from Minnesota shows a very close race in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. With those new poll results, Minnesota moves from Likely Democratic to Leans Democratic in the Rasmussen Reports Balance of Power Calculator.

Democrats currently lead in states with 200 Electoral Votes while the GOP has the advantage in states with 189. When “leaners” are added, the Democrats lead 247 to 229. Over the past month, McCain has gained ground in Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, Colorado, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania. Both Democrats continue to lead in New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut and California (see summary of recent state general election polling). New general election polling will be released this weekend for Arkansas, North Carolina, and Georgia"

How convenient. In spite of all the negative stuff you reported about Obama....He STILL DOES BETTER THAN HILLARY AGAINST MCCAIN!....BUT YOU LEFT THAT OUT! Also, Hillary's negatives are higher than Obama's...but you conveniently left that out too....

Your credibility has not improved. I can always count on you to twist things.....

67. "A severely fractured Dem base" does not bode well for the Dem base
that insists on cutting off its nose to spite its face. They'll suffer more than Obama.

If they want to take out their "Hillary lost" frustrations on the candidate who wants to get us out of Iraq while McCain wants to keep us there forever, then they'll reap what they sow.

8. The Wright thing is not going to go away!
Adm blogger:

What Republican operatives who swiftboated Kerry are saying:

"He can give a speech a week, and it’s not going to make the issue go away,” said Chris LaCivita, a Republican adviser who helped create the “Swift Boat” ads that severely damaged John Kerry’s 2004 presidential campaign."

"In his much-discussed speech from Philadelphia on Tuesday, Obama strongly condemned Wright’s most controversial statements. But he did not repudiate Wright or his overall ministry, saying the man who officiated at his wedding is like a family member."

"The decision will haunt Obama, LaCivita said, because his political success is built on his image as a uniter and almost messianic figure who eschews divisive strategies. When that image is juxtaposed to Wright’s outbursts comparing the United States to the Ku Klux Klan, among other things, voters will wonder if they misread Obama and his true character, he said."

"Republican pollster Tony Fabrizio said many swing voters in the fall will not buy Obama’s claim that he can no more disown Wright than his own white grandmother. “You get to pick your minister,” he said. “You don’t pick your grandma.”

This is a preview of what we are up against IF Obama is our nominee!

19. listen, hillary has only the slimmest hope of gaining the nomination
perhaps it's time to come to grips with that, and stop sliming, attempting to slime, and basically reveling in anything you can find that is an any way negative for the democratic frontrunner, the one who will almost *certainly* be the democratic nominee.

i don't care that you don't like it. that isn't my problem. my problem is that this delusion that hillary still has a reasonable chance of securing the democratic nomination cannot help, and can only harm the all-but-certain democratic nominee.

22. Hey Genius, Why The Fuck Are You Rooting For High Unfavorability Ratings?
Are you so fucking biased towards your candidate that you would sacrifice the GE just for sake of spite? That's what you come off like. NONE of us should be rooting for EITHER of our candidates to have high unfavorability ratings, since one of them will ultimately take on McCain in the GE. Now granted, I can understand wanting the choice poll to slant in her favor, but unfavorability ratings? No, that's just plain reckless and stupid to root for them, since that carries over to the GE.

Try to see the forest for the trees sometime. You come off like a selfish child when portraying joy for one of our DEMS gaining higher unfavorability ratings. Pathetic.

But I don't expect you to get it. Your bias and clouded thinking is far stronger than any logic that could be thrown your way, and it is apparent that your ignorance is impenetrable. 33. OMG!! HILLARY: 43% FAVORABLE, 55% UNFAVORABLE!
OBAMA: 48% FAVORABLE, 50% UNFAVORABLE!

Let's see: 2 point negative versus 12 point negative. If this polls is so great, it just confirms that people think much more highly of Obama than Clinton.

50. Funny how he didn't mention that in his subject line
More evidence Clinton supporters are rabid and should be put down.

77. It won't matter.
This whole hue and cry of "reverse discrimination" reeks of Reagan. Democrats won't fall for it, let alone the large numbers of elected and DNC officials. No way they deny the nomination to the first viable African American candidate, who also is leading in elected delegates will hold that lead at convention time as well.

85. Ah, the race card used to defend Obama's racist comment
Potentially being seen as racist against three out of four voters is no big deal in an election?

87. I'm not judging that, but I think it's true.
I don't think he will be denied the nomination if he leads in pledged delegates. I cannot see a scenario under which he will not have a lead, even if small, in that category.
