We are apparently supposed to turn a blind eye and ear to racial remarks from certain people, but God forbid anyone not in that "certain people" group say anything off color. It's ok for certain people to be Christians too... while others are called "creationists" instead. The rules no longer apply across the board.

You and I haven't agreed on much here lately, but I'm finding this offensive too. I've gone out of my way to be sure and raise my children NOT to see color... and this is what they get in return. My mum is an absolute sweetheart. She used to make comments about uppity _________________ (a group of first generation immigrants from a Mediterranean country. It made me cringe also.

They were hard working, many were and still are my friends, and they've, by and large done really well for themselves.

She was just repeating what her mom had said. I'd always correct her.

OTOH Her dad was the only person in my white bread town who hired two Afro Americans to work on his farm. My cousins and I would follow them around like they were Pied Pipers and bother them to be funny when they were trying to get stuff done.

We were probably more than a little bit of an annoyance but we worshiped them. They responded with tolerance, patience, and humor. LOL

Now my mum is really open minded and wished she could have had voted for Barack in our closed primary.

We should perhaps all consider generational roots before casting such extreme judgments.

I've heard Obama's grandmum is not entirely healthy. People calling her a "racist" or saying that "he threw her under a bus" can't be helping her energetically.
