There Will Be No Peace On Earth

If Americans follow in the recent tradition that has been politics and elections in the United States, then Obama will not win the General Election. As much as I hate to admit this, it is true. Americans have been fooled at least twice before into electing a President who does not represent their best interest. They are fooled by arguments that appeal to racial and religious fears in the dark heart of the American psyche. They are told that as long as our Flags do not Burn, we all wear Flag pins on our lapels and that marriage is only for a man and a woman, then the economy, the war, their civil liberties and their very security and welfare are all secondary. All that secondary stuff be damned because God. Bless. America.

Yes, it is easy to become passionate about such trivial non-impacting, non-life issues which Americans hold dear to their dark hearts. And if the media can make a spectacle of someone who gets excited about doing something that can make our lives all better, then that person deserves whatever they get. Even if that person has a plan to provide health care for all. Even if that person has a plan to eliminate poverty. Even if that person has a plan to rid us of our addiction to oil. Even if that person has a plan to bring our troops home from Iraq while at the same time catching the terrorists who truly attacked us. Even if that person can secure our borders while at the same time creating opportunity for all. Even if that person never said or did anything wrong. If the media decides to humiliate that person for the people he holds dear, then GOD DAMN HIM for allowing that to be done. We don't need him to lead us into a new age. The powerful and wealthy have told us that we need to fear him and that he doesn't hold sacred flags or lapel pins or God. Bless. America. And we all believe the media. This is who we are.

Really America? You are going to fall for this? Are you going to give up hope for change for this? Are you? If so, then you are saying yes to endless wars. You are sending your children and your children's children off to fight in wars in order to make the wealthy even wealthier. You are signing yourselves and the rest of the World up for Endless War. There will be no Peace On Earth.

There will continue to be extreme poverty contrasted with extreme wealth. There will be those vast billions who serve the few hundreds. There will be conscription and rendition for those who do not have. There will be rights, but only for those who have. We already see it today: who has healthcare in this country? Those who can afford it. Who serves in the military? For many, it is those who can not afford an education otherwise. Who is a home owner today? Many fewer than 7 years ago when Bush and the Republicans took control of our Country.

Yes, America is going to vote against its own interest because the media has decided to play a ridiculous sound bite over and over and over again. Americans are proving that they can be fooled over and over and over again with the same tactics and techniques. Americans are going to toss hope for change by the wayside because one man loves another and refuses to discard that man despite the anger and angry things he has said. When America should be standing by that kind of brotherly love and loyalty and recognizing the reality of race relations in this country, they are allowing themselves to be leveraged by their fear.

Sadly, I fear, there will be no peace on earth.
