Good news, Obama supporters!
after the few morning shows, I have been watching CNN and MSNBC pretty much nonstop for the past couple hours after getting my eyes dialated, and...

- stingray kills woman in Florida

- How to negotiate with your lender if your payment is too much for you with an ARM

- huge kiddie porn ring arrest in Polk County, FL (of course, that place is scary!)

- Floods in the south

- McCain pissed at Obama's speech where he called him a doddering old fool not to be trusted with the country

- No revote in Michigan

- How to protect yourself in a troubled economy

- How to prepare for alzheimers

- Iraq - 5th snniversary

- Cheney is still a Dick

What is missing? Hmm....

you tell me!

1. It can't possibly be hot for too long

It came at a great time for Obama. Four weeks before the next big contest. How long can we talk about one thing?

17. Exactly.
This went on longer than I expected, but do people really believe it was going to dominate the news every day through March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October and then November?

Hardly.

21. Frankly, this isn't interesting enough and there won't be new developments
for this story to last. It's not like Lewinskygate where it seemed to go on forever because it was juicy and we kept getting new information. This is a decent sized controversy, but there's plenty of time for Obama to work his magic.

Alakazam and Jeremiah Wright disappears!

27. I had predicted Tuesday, so it was two days late for me.
Still not bad. Not bad at all. The Speech probably helped put it to bed. The last people to see this seem to be some DUers.

38. it was probably a tactical mistake, thank god, for it to come this
early. amateurs. If they wanted to knee cap this man, they should have done it closer to the Penn campaign. It is awful that some campaigns believe poor and working people are kneejerk racists. That would make sure I never voted for them.

19. There was a story on Elizabeth Smart the other day
You know, the cute little white girl from Utah or something that got kidnapped a few years ago. Apparently she's going to college this year. This is why I have to cherry pick my news on the internet. What cable news blasts in front of my face is totally unwatchable.

5. Stingray attack? OK, that IS news. Because dammit, I lived in FL
and used to go swimming at Treasure Island beach in St. Pete every weekend with my kids, and we used to watch rays swim by all the time, and do the stingray shuffle. Yikes!

14. Egads! We used to say, Wow, stingrays! Cool! We were not too afraid
of them, but then we moved to the land-locked corn and wheat fields of Nebraska before the Irwin incident. Now I'd be a chickenshit, going to the beach today.

The Wright story will only go away when MSM gets tired of it, or some other major news breaks. Even Fox will follow this cycle, thoguht it will take them longer to move on, but they will.

10. Waiting for Prime Time
Well, I have been saying that this has come at the right time for Obama for 2 reasons.
1. There is a large time gap b/w the primaries.
2. The next primary is PA which he is EXPECTED to lose even before this blew up. So no big deal. Any hope HRC had of getting the AA votes in Philly have vanished after this. Notice no one in the media is mentioning that anymore!!

I predict this will continue to be an issue for this week (morning and evenings) and then the press will begin to move on. The GOP will not want to release attack ads now and HRC cannot be seen promoting this issue. So this too shall pass and Obama will continue to win.

33. I completely agree
Edited on Thu Mar-20-08 02:53 PM by comrade snarky
The timing couldn't be better for Obama. Without new revelations this story will slowly fade over (I think) the next 2 weeks. There's just not enough to sustain it. It's not sexy, the media talking heads are running out of things to say about it and he's answered the questions. The Clinton camp could try to keep it simmering through surrogates but that will reflect badly on them after Obama's speech.

I do expect it to stay on the freeper radar, but then those people are obsessive and more than a little touched in the head. It will also stay in rotation in the RW media for a little longer but there is no way to keep it at the current fevered pitch for 7 months without something more. If there were more clips we'd have seen them by now.

This also means that when the 501c3's make the nasty little adds we all know they will in 6 months Obama can dismiss it as old news everyone with a brain has moved on from and onto real issues like the economy, the war and health care. And isn't it sad the way they keep trying to bring this old isue up.

Edited for spelling (D'oh!)

24. Polk County *shudder* if those Preachers want to talk about God punishing an area
Edited on Thu Mar-20-08 01:23 PM by FLDem5
for its sins, Polk got hit by ALL THREE HURRICANES that passed across Florida a couple years ago. They crossed there, even though they came from different directions.

There are billboards there that bemoan the fact that a teenager gives birth every 15 minutes in Polk County. My husband used to have to drive through every day on his way to work - he was so grossed out by all the chemical and fertilizer plants there.

R. Kelly CHOOSES to live there.

Ick.
