This is pissing me off enough to burn another thread on this.

Jeff Sessions: Aye
John McCain: Aye
Larry Craig: Aye
Sam Brownback: Aye
Trent Lott: Aye
Jesse Helms: Aye
Rick Santorum: Aye
George Allen: Aye

In fact, only one Republican Senator, Lincoln Chafee, voted against this "peaceloving" bill, while 21 Democratic Senators voted against it.

Apparently, I've been wrong. It's the GOP, by this argument, that is the party of peace.

1. Because their military-industrial contractor friends
were DESPERATE to keep the peace, of course! And Big Oil was frantically worried about the ability of the American consumer to afford gas and the negative impact higher fuel prices would have on our economy's long-term future! Big Oil and the MIC were desperately trying to keep all this from happening because they have OUR best interest in heart!

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to go examine the latest toy that I bought today...

8. I know what you mean...
I bought that big statue in the water real cheap, too. Then it tarnished up and they guy tried to sell me copper polish at a huge markup. And, of course, his brother just happenes to own a statue-polishing business.

Fuck it, I say. Let it turn green!

6. Perfect reasoning - so obvious, why didn't we think of this before?
Maybe it comes back to the idea of there being a Republican truth and a Democratic truth ;-)

7. Because surreal BS arguments are disorienting
Really. These arguments like "the IWR was a vote for peace" are Orwellian. It's hard to keep your senses when you hear them, particularly from your own side.

10. Still waiting.
Why would McCain support an anti-war resolution?
