| Poisoning the public discourse: False headlines |
|
You know the type.. they go "BREAKING....", followed by something they thought of, not a actual event, but completely imaginary. Such as, "Hillary to step down after PA." This is called lying with intent to mislead. It cheapens the public discourse, and for the poster, it is the equivalent of shaming oneself in public to draw attention to oneself.
It is apparent to me, and I am biased, that most of these (all that I've read) are from the Obama camp. I'm quickly coming to develop an antipathy toward this type of poster, and by extension, towards the whole Obama camp. Justified? No. But that is how perception works. I view them in the same camp as Nader voters, misguided and ultimately destructive to the party.
Just lay off the nonsense headlines, will all y'all?

| 1. How can you cheapen the discourse here? |
|
It is already low-rent bargain basement...can't get much cheaper than that.

I know where you're coming from. It's annoying as hell when you click on a "BREAKING" post and find out it's nothing but somebody's overheated imagination.

And genuine (as in, "this is a genuinely sincere question for ________ supporters).

I don't know that they are mostly Obama supporters (Edwards supporters have had a great penchant for trick headlines) - but whoever is doing it, I wish they would stop. I HATE IT.
