Poll question: What keeps YOU out of the political arena?
Some here, would probably run for office but cannot for one reason or another. Curious to know the reasons, or maybe you wouldn't be interested in running?

What keeps YOU out of the political arena?

3. I'm in it
on a municipal level. It's just a tiny version of the big picture. In my opinion, running for office is an ordeal, I can't begin to imagine what it's like on the national level.

2. Voted other because I am openly gay and a nightclub entertainer
Edited on Sun Mar-16-08 10:21 PM by musicblind
who mostly entertains at gay clubs. Those two things are things I am proud of but would sink me like a stone in any election lol! Even if I wasn't a nightclub entertainer (all I do is juggle and spin plates) I would still never be able to seriously run... because I am gay. It is ashame. I love politics.

44. That's good! As a gardener, I object to being told not to grow certain plants.
My using days are over, but why can't I grow any plant I wish in my garden? It's bizarre that the government is allowed to dictate the contents of my backyard garden. It's even more bizarre that the government bans the growing of hemp - a highly versatile, useful plant with no drug value that would help the economies of numerous states in the U.S. Wait a minute - on second thought - that's just business as usual for the gubmint....

9. I don't have the temperament.
Too thin-skinned. For the same reason that I put probably way too many posters on ignore - I can't stand to be talked down to, have my words twisted, be lied to, or be confronted in a hostile way... I have a temper, and when I succumb to it, I tend to be... rather blunt. I'd last 2 weeks. tops. :)

23. If I had known then, what I know now... I would've run for office.
But it's to late. To many bridges crossed, to many doors slammed shut, not enough money.
I would need more 'framed parchment'... etc. But I've considered strongly gaining employment
in politics somewhere and working in the background. I've done it before as a volunteer.

42. LOL...ok, that's a fair cop.
But it IS true. I'm not, and I don't mind. I'm truly not a social creature at all, and have little time or patience for everyday chit chat. I'm better sometimes than others, but 75% of the time I'm not an overly friendly person. If there's such a thing as a liberal misanthrope I'm it. :)

And I love that fishing icon...
