everyone can see the writing on the wall.
except hillary of course..

she cannot accept this, because it means her Fellowship God of Power and Money has abandoned her.

Half the 14 delegates allocated to John Edwards on the basis of caucus night projections switched Saturday and Obama got most, if not all, of them.

1. Let's see what happens at the convention
Edited on Sat Mar-15-08 07:40 PM by depakid
It's possible that Obama might implode by then... and a Hillary candidacy would be deemed equally untenable.

In that case, the Edwards delegates and superdelegates might hold the difference between a chance at a victory (with an untainted compromise candidate)- or a sure loss in November.

I could really, really go for that! I think most Dems and Indies and many Rethugs would be happy with that ticket.

Let's hope Hillary can swallow her pride and bow out gracefully before dragging our party into the ditch with her.

Only remaining question is whether she's going to hold its head under the water and drown it, too.

Really, though, I think it's going to take more than something Obama's preacher or garbageman or fifth grade teacher said to make his candidacy "implode".

Or McCain could have a heart attack...or Denver might suffer an earthquake...but none of these outcomes are very likely.

I mean there's only about 16 18 Edwards delegates left after today. The chance that they end up casting the deciding votes is pretty low.

He might not get the 15% needed at the state convention.

11. 14 of Edwards' 26 delegates were from Iowa
As of today, he's down -6 to 8 in Iowa, with Obama +7 to 23 and Clinton -1 to 14. Iowans will have another go-round at their district convention with some more reshuffling, and then again at the state convention in June. That's when we have the actual Iowa delegate count.

Not sure what happens to Edwards' 4 from NH or the 8 from SC. Each state's procedure is different. The Green Papers is a good source for info on this, but I haven't looked at those states' M.O.s yet.

32. Do you think Edwards will endorse Obama now?
Or let some of his delegates go?

Or keep them until the convention?

Do you think Edwards should be allowed to give a speech at this year's convention?

And, who will give the keynote address?

12. Obama's negatives at 49 percent and rising.
A new Rasmussen poll shows Clinton with 51 percent negative and Obama at 49 percent negative.

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics...

Clinton's negative numbers are steady; Obama's are rising.

It's a long time to the convention and delegates may change from Obama if his negatives keep rising. It's a long way from over.

And if Obama's negatives rise much more, he will have a hard time in the general election. Please remember that the superdelegates will not want to lead the party off a cliff.

41. And it's also amazing how a short-term surge in Obama's negatives ...
... is suddenly a cataclysm, but Hillary's long-term 50% +/- negatives are something to be ignored.

42. I did not ignore Clinton's negatives, which are flat.
The point was that as the campaign has progressed, Obama's negatives are rising and have almost reached the level of Clinton's negatives.

There is no evidence that Obama's negatives are "short-term." And I did not write that it was a "cataclysm." Both statements are just spin. The trend is that Obama's negatives are increasing.

the United States and he has only himself to blame. He should quietly slip away now, for the good of the country and the party.
