Have Hillary's supporters completely given up trying to be positive?
Edited on Sat Mar-15-08 04:24 PM by George_Bonanza
It's no longer trying to argue why Hillary's better; it's about trying to make Obama look bad. There hasn't been a positive story out of the Clinton camp in weeks, and it's always about Obama. Meanwhile, Obama's out there trying to defend himself from false accusations (i.e. Ferraro's explicit statement that Obama's nothing more than an easy-riding Black puppet) and trying to make the case against John McCain. Hillary's camp is coming up with a new "scandal" every 2 days or so, desperately hoping that something will stick because after months of hard campaigning, people aren't buying her message.

It's sad how the first viable female candidate is Hillary, and how her main legacy will be her disgraceful campaign that betrayed all American women by not adopting a message of change and hope, but one of self-interested ambition.

1. I Am Totally Disgusted
Why aren't we attacking the Repukes who are responsible for the friggen mess we are in now. There seems to be no time left for that while they dig for dirt (or just make it up) on Obama and we are forced to answer their gutter attacks.

33. My killfile keeps growing and growing.
You can't convince many of the Hill-billies - they've drank the kool-aid, and will throw whatever soundbites, talking points, smears, etc. they get, whether they make sense or not, and when you try to convince them otherwise, all you get is silence, changing of the subject to a different smear or "LALALALALALALALA TALK TO THE HAND! I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!"

Best to just hit the ol' plonk button.

39. Oh, the wonderfully positive message we have heard so often from Obama supporters!
Obamas supporters have been out to destroy Hillary, Obamas whole campaign is based on it.

I have not heard a single Obama supporter discuss Obama's policy positions in months, not on DU or in the media.

If Obama wins the nomination his supporters, particularily in the media, will have soured Hillary's supporters to the point that a huge chunk of them will not vote at all and it will be largely Obamas fault for his tacit approval of it all.

7. Republican styled campaigns havent relied on a positive tone since Reagan
I always figured Hillary's inner Republican would surface when she became desperate enough, but I never suspected so many rank and file Democrats who support her would ever follow her down that dark path.

40. Obama never talks about policy...
...and his supporters do nothing but attack the Clintons, particularly his supporters in the media who are absolutely obsessed with her. They have no interest in beating Hillary, they want to completely destroy her, which is driving potential Obama supporters in her camp AWAY from Obama.

Now tell us how positive his campaign has been.

8. Watch out for false flags, and don't imagine the repugs aren't about
If all the repugs have to do is sling some mud at Obama signed "Hillary", then stand by and watch while a new barn-burner erupts...

Both sides should have a bit more care about the origins of this crap. Let's not do all their dirty work for them.

That could be diffused IF Hillary would immediately repudiate and condemn whoever says something she knows didnt come from her own campaign.

The problem though is that Hillary knows its GOP operatives doing this stuff to help her become the nominee, and she doesnt care.

11. Gotta call you on that
There is a LOT of hillary hate being spewed by Obama supporters. And most of it's more personal than the Obama-hate being spewed by Hillary supporters. I.E. accusing her of being underhanded, conniving, insincere, etc... personal qualities, not issue-based criticism.

At least, that's my take on what I see here. This doesn't mean that some of the "Hillary supporters" (some of whom both aren't and never will be) aren't sometimes vicious and unfair, just that their "anti-Obama" spew isn't as personal. IMHO. YMMV.

Ritual Disclaimer: I'm not taking sides in this fight. I think either of our candidates would be a great president, and that neither of them are perfect. Which ever one wins the nomination, I'll work my butt off to make sure that Republicans don't have another four years to loot the treasury, gut the government, and pack the courts. Period.

22. You took the words RIGHT out of my mouth!
Around this place, except for a token thread here and there, Clinton supporters have ceased commenting on what their candidate is doing and how she might make the U.S. a better place, and have instead spammed the board with nonsense about what her opponent is allegedly doing or not doing. All this does is play into the stereotype of caddiness that often befalls women. And as a woman myself, it's a damn shame to see.

Instead of running an upbeat and celebratory campaign, HRC has resorted to the worst kind of RW-style campaign possible. She is tarnishing what should and could have been a shinning example.

Somebody should have told her that the way to break the glass ceiling isn't by emulating the lowest denominator of male-dominated politics.
