but Emancipation would have to be off the table. "Not politically expedient."

7. We'd be debating the presidential nominating caucus in Congress
And DU would be DRU: Democratic-Republican Underground.

We'd be fighting among ourselves over who should get the nomination. Madison, Monroe or George Clinton.

9. Actually not even that as the concept didn't exist.
The string telephone seems to date back only to around 1860.

12. Although some scottsman had the basics of telephony
worked out in the mid 1700s - it just took 120 years to go from concept to reality.

What we did back then was post stuff on trees and lamps and storefronts and write letters and (I find this part frightening) actually meet in person and 'talk'. Yikes.
