News chanels never focus on one person's opinion because it stirs up controversy. If they find 80% are not offended do you really think they will show that. At best they will show one person who represents say 5% of the people and one person to represent 95% and act as if they are equal in their representation.

I think Obama needs to start calling for debates again. As much as people are tired of them, it will atleast give the media something to cover instead of creating their own stories.

denounce him. If they put up pictures of the waterhoses and dogs of the sixties in defense of Wright's alleged anger, then they will teach america all over again, that which it has been all too unwilling to remember, the awful history of this country in regards to race relations. Obama represents the new consciousness that can finally arise above all that.

He said last night and it ran on MSNBC today in a soundbite, "I will not denounce Rev. Wright." I do disagree with some of his sermons. So now, Obama will have to go back and explain to the MSM he did not denounce Wright to keep the black ministers happy.

Then they will say, look at Obama, he is trying to bam-boozle us because he never denounced Wright. Then, reporters will pester him in trying to say, you denounced Wright and he will not answer.

And again, how many on DU were advocating Obama EMBRACE the message of his pastor? Some have said they agree with much of what he said, but I've not seen people say he should actively endorse that message. Have you? And if you have, I'd love to see a bunch of links making your point. Because it would seem what little point you had was built around this false notion Obama supporters didn't want him to denounce these comments, when that isn't true. Most of us knew it would be political suicide if he didn't reject those comments, so I don't know where you're seeing these wide ranging posts of us Obama supporters defending the idea of Obama supporting Wright's message. Some may agree with Pastor Wright, but they understand many won't and that Obama needed to speak out on these comments.
But regardless of that, this COULD be spun into a good thing for Obama and even you can admit it. If the more radical black preachers are coming out against him, it'll appear he is a bit more moderate on this issue than many may have thought. Now it could hurt him with some black voters, but I doubt that.

I'm sure... we'll see campaign adds featuring it. But the campaign is handling it well and it will ultimately be burried by the economy as an issue. It is really more distraction for us and base rallying for right.
Of course some black ministers will denounce Obama, but that actually isn't necessarily bad. I mean you can't have it both ways - he either agrees with Wright or he doesn't. Having people who agree with the comments Wright made denounce Obama only reinforces the fact that he doesn't agree with him.
Ultimately it is what comes out Obama's mouth that matters. When a voter gets no reinforcement from Obama of this it won't stick (apart from racists who weren't going to vote for him anyway and are just looking for an excuse). It's a way to undermine him on part of his whole premise, sure, but we don't have the Obama making Senate testimony and Obama throwing away his medals that reinforces it for the voter (which is why swiftboating Kerry worked). If the best they can come up with as far as reinforcing this as who Obama actually is, is his middle name and a picture of him not holding his hand over his heart to sing the national anthem - there is no way this trumps the economy as an issue.

Sister Souljah moment From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia In United States politics, a Sister Souljah moment is a politician's public repudiation of an allegedly extremist person or group, statement, or position perceived to have some association with the politician or their party. Such an act of repudiation is designed to signal to centrist voters that the politician is not beholden to traditional, and sometimes unpopular, interest groups associated with the party, although such a repudiation runs the risk of alienating some of the politician's allies and the party's base voters. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sister_Souljah_moment

These pastors are fake as hell. Where were they when it was time to defend Rev.Wright for the entire year. These pastors are Hillary Clinton supporters!!! The ones whose churches her and her husband frequents when they need to pander. Its those ministers. Where were they before? they just want attention.

at the end of the day, Obama didn't make those statements, and he doesn't come off as an angry black man out to get whitey. And apparently he's not a Muslim either.

It was a losing strategy for him to go for the black vote by tarring the Clintons as racist.
Now he has the black vote. Good for him. It's not enough to win. End of story. Full stop.

To get the black vote. He had nothing to do with that it was people who did not like her statements and the media. Do not blame Obama for that. By the way, thank you for insulting the intelligence of black folks.

Not from what i'm hearing. Those black ministers are probably some of the ones for Clinton. She has a lot in her corner. They have been waiting to pounce on Obama so they can get black support from him . I dont think Hillary or her campaign is behind it. I think that these ministers are trying to get attention. If they felt so strongly for Wright then they would have stepped up a while ago. Oh please.

step forward to denounce those who falsely accused Obama of being a Muslim
And I didn't hear or see a single one of you utter a word of denunciation against those who are trying to use Obama's relationship with Rev. Wright as a club against him.
But now that, partly because of your silence, Obama has to step up and deal with this situation that you could have helped tamp down, you suddenly decide to jump into the discussion to denounce HIM?
To you, I say - ypu're a day late and a dollar short.
Now, go away.

You can't assume that all black ministers are Democrats. Bush"s Faith-Based Bribes - I mean, Initiative - and anti-gay marriage efforts bought a lot of loyalty from some of these folks.
