Rezko And Wright Both Dumped On A Friday Night And Now Obama Is Vetted. If He Survives, He's Money.
Did anybody else realize that? He got this story out tonight and answered the Rezko questions tonight. A Friday night, so that it burns out through the weekend, and 6 weeks (which is an eternity) before another vote is cast. He even released his earmark requests yesterday, so he must feel really refreshed right now that his skeletons are completely out of the closet. All of this had to be exposed at sometime and this was probably the best possible time to get it all out there and let people absorb it and hopefully move on from it.

Now, does that mean he's in the clear? Ofcourse not. We still are gonna have to wait until the next polls come out to judge if this night sinks his candidacy, but if it doesn't there's probably nothing left for him to hide. He'll be completely vetted, and Hillary still has A LOT of vetting to go through. This night frees him up to hit Hillary on transparency from now until June.

This Friday night might be hell for him, but if he survives, I think he's money.

21. Of course they were not late...what is late is her being vetted!
You cannot be considered even partially vetted without releasing tax returns. That is so basic. And she has not even done this rudimentary step. She is not even close to being vetted.

So it is legal not to disclose? Well...duh! But I do think there is an issue here you inadvertantly brought up. Hillary won't do disclosure unless she HAS TO. There is no spirit here, only the letter of the law. I think we are all tired of presidents who hold everything to their vests and keep things secret unless they are legally forced to divulge anything. Is THIS the kind of president Hillary would be? Prove me wrong!

I'm not seeing it brougt up anywhere besides here, so no, it's not likely to be getting news coverage on Monday.

78. Well if you don't think she should be vetted or be called out on her hypocrisy...
Note that she didn't release any of her returns when she ran again for the Senate. She and Bill made a lot of money since her first Senate run, and the people deserve to know where it came from and to examine this issue. Her unwillingness to make a phone call to release these returns is ridiculous, but I guess she's not really in favor of open government.

81. She's been vetted
for 16 years. This "requirement" that candidates release their tax returns before the nomination is brand new this year. It's never been a custom, a requirement, a tradition.

She's released financial disclosure forms every year she's been in the Senate.

Personally, I hope she and Bill file separately just to watch you guys explode.

The rev. wright comments won't be news after this weekend. He's already gotten props from Farrakahn, I doubt Wright's anti-Israel stance will make much of a difference after all of this passes.

Sorry, try again.

If you noticed, all those stories surfaced month ago .. There is nothing really new or left to talk about pretty much, and so far Obama managed to duck those attacks, and solidify his supporters behind him.
Believe it or not, those attacks will attract more people to him, those stories will put his life in context, answer the peoples' questions to know more about his life and stop him from coming across as arrogant or Mr. Perfect.

but I have a feeling this wasn't accidental. I mean the Ferraro comments which shine poorly on Clinton (right or wrong) and Spitzer, seems like a good time to drop all your baggage into the feeding frenzy, let it all get mixed up and then float away.

This weekend makes "monster" weekend look like child's play though, I gotta admit.

22. Perfect weekend to do this.... 5+ weeks til next voting.....
Nothing will be happening politically for several weeks.

CNN, Fox, and MSNBC will see a lull in ratings until the next debate occurs and we get within 2 weeks of PA vote.

So this story will be running during a lull in the campaign, when Americans will be focusing on spring, easter, the NCAA tournament, hockey and NBA playoffs, and baseball opening day.

More and more, I think the Obama campaign SELECTED this time period for this to occur. They new it was going to happen some time, so they picked the most advantageous time for it to happen.

23. I've got a notion
that it was the Obama campaign itself that put this out there right now.

If these videos had come out with such a splash early on, it would have sunk him before he even got started. If the Clinton campaign wanted to play "gotcha" with them, they would have surfaced in the week just before the PA primary. McCain would have played them out in swiftboat season -- August. From the Obama campaign's POV, it's surfaced at the optimum time: right past one string of primaries and now six weeks to diffuse before the next one. And he is diffusing it beautifully.

Over and over in this campaign he's run circles around the opposition. The only time the other side scored was the NAFTA smear right before OH and TX. I think this is just the latest example showing he is a master of the political chess game. I am more and more impressed every day.

They don't get that it doesn't have to be logical in the uneducated mind. Older people watched as the young blacks - Black Panthers became Black Muslims in the sixties. Were they still Christians? Dunno. Did they still believe in Jesus? Dunno. We just knew they were Black Muslims cause that's what they said they were. Rush knows his listeners. He can count on them.

Now come back with the "higher standard that candidates..." blah blah blah. Hillary is JUST as guilty of lying as Obama (if he did), so what you are really doing is wanting it both ways. Knock it off.

51. So, the plan of attack to to whistle while walking past the graveyard.
"Hope" that the American voters are just too stupid to keep their attention spans from flipping to sports. Are people really naive enough to think that this is emblematic of the leadership skills needed to be president?

53. Look at McCain and his lobbyist girlfriend
They did the same thing: wait until the nomination is a lock (and it IS a lock), and get the story out fully, deal with it (or deny it as McCain did) and then count on the hamster-like memories of the MSM to render this story worthless in about 3 or 4 days.

66. I believe that Obama will survive......
and I don't think that Hillary can win the nomination if he doesn't....cause Wright and his church is like a whole lot of churches out there everywhere.

If Hill is the nominee because of this fire and brimstone reverend, then Hillary loses...and I mean big.

Plus Hillary has shit in her closet, and that will be more nails on her coffin.

So if I were you, I'd be careful what I'd wish for. You don't want Obama going down because of his church. I'm just sayin.

Only the most racist would believe that Obama can't survive this, meanwhile Bush did quite well going to Bob Jones University during the GE.

using it? The only shit I hear from the Obamaites is about Bill Clinton. Let's clean Hillary's closet now, in detail, not sound bites.

71. Obama has stayed away from the shit on HIllary
for two reasons, hillbot. One is that if starts throwing around Hsu, Gupta, Giustra and others, he looks like he's just a slimy shit slinger like Hilly. He's trying to avoid that. The other is that he's in the lead.

83. Obama provided the ultimate in right-wing attacks -- it's not going away
One bad part for Obama -- his supporters are newcomers with little invested. As such, they'll likely flee as the negative onslaught continues.

84. Could the Obama campaign have leaked this on itself?
Heavy duty tinfoil here, but the timing does seem to be the best for him. Following the tail of the Spitzer affair and right after the Feraro flap on a late Thursday Friday, six weeks before the next vote. If this were going to come out, and they had to know it would, there could be no better timing for Obama. Just sayin'. This was not optimal timing for Hilary...I'm sure she would have wanted this to come out much closer into the PA primary and on a Monday for maximum impact. There is a lot of time for this to play itself out.

95. If the whoremedia gives obama as you suggest, fully vetted
and this passes then I would suspect you might get 20% hrc supporters to vote for obama if he wins the nomination in November.....

Obama has already been caught in a lie when he said he never attended a sermon where the pastor spoke this way. It was july 07.....for 18-20 years this man who attended this church maybe 2 out of 4 sundays has said he never heard pastor wright say anything anti-white, anti-america-anti-jew, anti-israel...come on man what the hell did the pastor do? wait for you to take your small children out to the changing room and when pastor wright saw you not in the crowd he started his rants.....

Edited on Sat Mar-15-08 06:00 PM by malik flavors
He wasn't in church for those specific statements.

And when you consider he's been preaching for 40 years, and there's only 5 clips of him being that over-the-top, it's not that hard to believe. If he was like that every sunday there would be tons of clips for them to show, but there's only 5 they continue to show on repeat.
