So whom can we nominate? Newt?

We need to fight back against RW smears, not acquiesce to them by using the same criteria as the RW to
judge our own candidates.

On Edit: This is not a response to the posts against Wright. This is a response to the posts that argue we can't vote for Obama because the RW will try and smear him with Wright.

1. You will cower in fear of what the RW smear machine will do.
That seems to be the new motto for Democrats.

I agree we need to nominate the person whom we believe best represents what we believe in, then battle the RW smear machine, the racists, the misogynists, and the religious bigots to win the election rather than let fear of what these forces dictate whom we nominate.

6. Obama called him a crazy old uncle
Edited on Thu Mar-13-08 02:22 PM by JCMach1
You don't hang out with the crazy old racist uncle for 20 years every Sunday without something happening to your psyche.

His church gave Farakhan a lifetime achievement award...

This is extremely bad. In fact, just leave Hillary out of it. There is no way he can get elected now.

and seriously, I am not going to say much else about this simply to stir the pot in GDP... I don't do that...

This is a huge issue for the General Election if he is our nominee... :(

7. Dedicating a book to a man, hardly indicates a repudiation of his views.

9. check out Hillary's 15 year membership in The Fellowship, a secretive group that has
many hyper conservative members, including a former head of the militant anti-abortion group Operation Rescue.

10. How in the hell did we end up with two candidates who are followers
Edited on Thu Mar-13-08 03:22 PM by Benhurst
of such fucked-up religious leaders?

The Democratic party used to be the party of Jefferson and The Enlightenment. The way things are going, we should ask Governor Huckabee to join us. It looks like he'd fit right in with our "leaders."

8. I agree with you 1000%.
Watching my fellow Democrats cower in fear of how the Republicans will turn swing voters against us is making me nauseous in its simpering cowardice. We do this every fucking election. This is why we lose.

It's not because of individual issues. It's because we don't take the fight to the Republicans and we come off like gigantic cowards who are willing to be defined by them. This shit simply needs to stop. It will bring us a President McCain more than anything else will.
