Geraldine Ferraro goes hysterical:" I am a lunatic about this" implies Lewis is a coward
In all of the discussion about what she has said people are overlooking this clip that comes from John Gibson's radio show

some of the statements she makes

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqL_sm0J8jc

at 2:40 She accuses John Lewis of being a political coward because he switched his endorsement solely because he was afraid of his constituents

at 3:05 She says about Rosa Delora "I don't care what she says" implying that anyone who endorses Obama is simply hiding their real motivation (she goes on to repeat the now repeatedly debunked canard about 'present' votes)

at 3:25 "I am a lunatic about this stuff"

at 3:30 she impugned Senator Dodd for endorsing Obama solely as a result of "guys sticking together"

at 3:45 Gibson asks why would in not be the democratic thing to have superdelegates follow the democratic will of the primary elections "Why is it not credible that . . . they are doing it because they don't want to be at odds with the people"

and she basically says that they should just hand the election to Hillary regardless of the results

at 4:14 she restates her contention about Obama being in the race only because he is Black and characterizes him as being simply

a 'problem for Hillary' getting the nomination.

Listening to Ferraro you hear the bitterness of a woman who believes that Hillary Clinton was a woman of destiny who was leading the country to its first woman president and Obama the black man is stealing the nomination from her.

That level of bitterness about the fact that Clinton is losing this race is commonplace at DU. Why don't they direct their bitterness at the person who is responsible for the debacle sometimes termed Clinton for President campaign?

(Oh and for the record the incompetent Clinton campaign has not even fielded a complete delegate slate in Pennsylvania)

9. Not nearly as much
most Blacks and young voters didn't even expect Obama to get this far. Hillary supporters thought she was the inevitable first woman president. They are VERY bitter and it shows.

13. first listen to the tape - you responded to the OP so fast you could
not have listened to it.

I will say that with any particular set of circumstances there will be some bitterness by somebody somewhere.

We are talking about a prominent Clinton supporter putting forth the basic premise that the nomination is being stolen from her

by cowards like John Lewis. These statements go much further than the other ones that are widely reported.

Anybody making such histerical remarks should be denounced.

Despite the fact that Obama is going to enter the nomination

with

more delegates
more primary wins
more caucus wins
raised more money
has more donors
endorsed by more senators
endorsed by more govenors
has been more consistent throughout the race by winning the most delegates in Jan Feb and March

despite all of this some people are making hysterical rants in DU and in the media that the

nomination should be yanked from him by one method or another.

I am sure that if the tables were turned that there would be atleast one person who would be bitter about it but we are never going to test the hypothetical because it isn't going to happen.

55. it's okay to disagree with her statements...
...without making a false assumption as well.

Now, I know there would be great bitterness in the land because I've seen great bitterness here on DU when Hillary won the popular vote in three states one night recently. There was name-calling, and abusive language, and a lot of fuss from Obama supporters.

by the hour. Now you are buying into that accusation that the "3:00 AM" ad was a racial attack.

"Oh, she's saying that there are scary black people trying to break in", or your ridiculous line now that it says "Do you want the 'scary black man' answering the red phone at 3:00 AM while your little white daughter is peacefully sleeping???"

Just who is doing the race baiting? Just who is trying to split the party alon racial lines? Just who is using Rovian tactics?

You know in your heart that that ad had everything to do with "something has happened IN THE WORLD" ....

This is a disgusting allegation, and you should be ashamed of yourself!

12. Gibson referred to her as "my pal," and she called him "Sweetie."
What's up with all the term of endearment between these two? Gibson is an ass. He's one of the worst. He's the one who ...

" ... called for white people to have more babies to fight off the onslaught of Hispanics in the country (Media Matters summary is below). This is a call to arms for white people to defend the homeland by having more unprotected sex.

There is also an implied call for racial purity in Gibson's call as white people having babies with blacks, Asians and Latinos wouldn't really solve the problem he is trying to address. To use a phrase from a friend, Fox should fire John Gibson or change the name of his show to "The Big(ot) Story.""

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jamal-simmons/fox-news-sh...

"Summary: On The Big Story, John Gibson urged viewers to "o your duty. Make more babies," because he had found out, from a recently released report, that nearly half of all children under the age of five in the United States are minorities. Gibson added: "You know what that means? Twenty-five years and the majority of the population is Hispanic." Gibson later repeated: "To put it bluntly, we need more babies.""

8. Gee and look at what Ferraro said in 1988 what a surprise....
March 11, 2008
Read More: Barack Obama

A Ferraro flashback

"If Jesse Jackson were not black, he wouldn't be in the race," she said.

Really. The cite is an April 15, 1988 Washington Post story (byline: Howard Kurtz), available only on Nexis.

Here's the full context:

Placid of demeanor but pointed in his rhetoric, Jackson struck out repeatedly today against those who suggest his race has been an asset in the campaign. President Reagan suggested Tuesday that people don't ask Jackson tough questions because of his race. And former representative Geraldine A. Ferraro (D-N.Y.) said Wednesday that because of his "radical" views, "if Jesse Jackson were not black, he wouldn't be in the race."

Asked about this at a campaign stop in Buffalo, Jackson at first seemed ready to pounce fiercely on his critics. But then he stopped, took a breath, and said quietly, "Millions of Americans have a point of view different from" Ferraro's.

Discussing the same point in Washington, Jackson said, "We campaigned across the South . . . without a single catcall or boo. It was not until we got North to New York that we began to hear this from Koch, President Reagan and then Mrs. Ferraro . . . . Some people are making hysteria while I'm making history."

You know after reading up on this it seems like she has some kind of problem that goes way back. I have seen the 1988 comments. I think now she is like some of the other HRC supporters who are like backstage Mom's and who have placed their hopes and goals to Hillary's victory. Seems they cannot believe anyone could have beat her! It just happened to be a black man and she is not taking it well at all. I hope that this doesn't make someone go off the deep end. I think Hillary and Bill have to take some of the blame. Obama has tried to keep it level. I feel that the longer it goes on the worse it is going to get. And I have heard that PA has a certain population of "rednecks" who are going to move this on. Shame!
