Huckabee on Hillary's "experience"...

"For her to claim that being in the White House gives her 'Presidential experience' is like me claiming that I have experience giving birth since I was in the delivery room when my wife gave birth to our three children."

Ouch.

9. Huckabee isn't dumb. He may be a lot of other things. He is not Shrub.
Go ask the Arkansas Democratic Party (who couldn't stop him for more than a decade) if they think he's dumb. They'd laugh in your face.

29. He's great.
Huckabee got half the black vote when he was governor. Huckabee is liberal in some ways. He actually cares about the poor. He is not pro big business. But he is a religious nut which makes him dangerous.

37. He ran on economic populism and nearly unseated Romney
Edited on Wed Mar-12-08 12:30 PM by dmesg
Until the party machine came down full force and backed McCain.

I think an economic populist/social conservative candidate would be nearly unstoppable in the GE, so I'm glad they did that.

He's the republican friend you hang out with but don't discuss politics with. A fundamentally decent human being with bad political ideas.

20. I disagree
I think I would have a GREAT time discussing politics with Huckabee.

He seems like the kind of guy you can talk politics with without it getting too personal, ya know?

34. "I think, as a nation, we are better than punishing children for what their parents did"
--Mike Huckabee, being the only person in the GOP debate who refused to play the immigrant-bashing game.

That kind of thing is where the "decent" image comes from.

42. But closer to home...

http://www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com/archives/13890.html

In August of 1998, Huckabee was one of 131 signatories to a full page USA Today Ad which declared: “I affirm the statement on the family issued by the 1998 Southern Baptist Convention.” What was in the family statement from the SBC? “A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband even as the church willingly submits to the headship of Christ.”

The ad wasn’t just a blanket, “we support the SBC statement,” but rather highlighted details. The ad Huckabee signed specifically said of the SBC family statement: “You are right because you called wives to graciously submit to their husband’s sacrificial leadership.”

43. The "submissive wife" movement surprises me a lot
Though I didn't realize Huckabee had commented on the SBC's endorsement of it.

(Interest of disclosure: I'm working on a documentary on Christian involvement in BDSM, to which the "submissive wife" notion is generally the most common gateway. I'm by no means going to defend the SBC but the power exchange phenomenon is both more widespread and more complex than you may think.)

13. Ugh, exactly. I mean: "I actually like Huckabee a lot too." Really?
And then there's this: "A fundamentally decent human being with bad political ideas." Sorry but anyone who compares homosexuality to bestiality is not a fundamentally decent person. No wonder I can no longer tell the difference between freepers and Obamaniacs.

41. The one who pardoned a convicted rapist after he "found religion"
and the rapist went on to kill another woman?

The one who forced a mentally ill minor child to bear her stepfather's child after he raped her, rather than waive the parental notification laws?

It is unbelievable to what depths Obama supporters will stoop.

32. It's fortunate Huckabee didn't win their primary.
Because he would, potentially, be a monster to defeat. He has crackpot religious views, but he's charming and likeable, unfortunately enough. If he tones down his religious rhetoric he'll easily win their primary in 2012/16 and will be a formidable opponent.
