Do Americans like bloodbaths?
With all the people supporting Bush's bloodbath, I have to wonder what has happened to our society.

I recently saw the Jesus bloodbath movie. As a Christian, I cannot see how other Christians could feel anything positive about watching a movie which focused almost completely on Jesus being tortured and killed. It's as if the movie's supporters felt that Jesus's life was worthless and loved seeing him getting tortured.

With all the revelations about what we have done in terms of creating a bloodbath in Iraq and the murdering all those people and children, I would expect to see unstoppable crowds surrounding the White House and demanding the removal of Bush and Company. People don't even seem to care that Bush let 9-11 happen and that 3000 Americans were killed because of him. Most people don't seem to want to know. Has something made death and killing acceptable in our culture?

1. They didn't want to know about what was going on in Vietnam
either. If fact, during WW2, when word was coming in about the Jews being exterminated, no one believed them because they couldn't believe any would do something like that.

There were 4 million civilian deaths in Vietnam, mostly due to a special group of soldiers whose duty was to go around killing all the civilians that weren't 100% pro-American.

Since we have no intention of really giving Democracy to Iraq, Bush has to keep what's really going on in Iraq quite. I don't think the average American knows how civilians are being shot left and right like Vietnam. Americans have always been like this. Once the press gets a hold of something, then we react.

I started a new job this week and there are two young ladies there in their 20's. All they can think about is buying stuff and making money and how great the reality TV shows are. We are not a very bright society. We have our heads in pits of money. A lot can't believe our government could do that much wrong. And a lot are mad at the Arabs for killing our solders, "civilians", and having the nerve to raise the rates for oil for our SUVs. I think the USA is dead. Not sure if it will ever come back again.

Boy, do I miss the 60's.

2. bloodthirsty and blind
Americans love blood, violence, and "getting one over" everyone else. TOo many people revel in fear, hatred, and intolerance.
I did not want to see the Passion movie because I believe I can truly comprehend the total message without being immersed in bloody torture. Seeing the whole is something too many people have forgotten.
Perhaps that is why they blindly follow the pres even with the abuses he is causing, allowing, and tolerating. They do not want to admit mistakes are being made. They need to see an alternative. How do we open their eyes?

3. A lot of human behavior is still ruled by the brainstem
(or reptilian brain). Even with the advanced cerebellum (our higher thinking/reasoning center) we have to deal with brainstem
instincts all the time. These can take over in a second if we perceive ourselves to be threatened (flight or fight syndrome), or if some other influences (possibly child abuse or long standing brainwashing) motivate us to operate on this primitive level.

6. No. We do not have the stomach for a Verdun or a Stalingrad
Americans may talk the talk when it comes to fighting hard, but we don't deal well with losses. Enemy losses don't faze us though.

7. The violence in the Passion of Christ
has also kept me from seeing the movie even though I am a Christian. I simply have no wish to see the violence even though I understand that it is a part of my faith. The old saying, "You can't appreciate Easter without Good Friday."
