MY FRIENDS, JOHN MCCAIN IS SENILE
"My friends. The old jobs aren't coming back! THEY'RE NOT COMING BACK! What we need to do is eliminate the Alternative Minimum Tax. Most people don't even know what that is. It was made for the wealthiest Americans, but now because of inflation, 25% of Americans are in DANGER because of it. And our corporate tax is the second highest in the WORLD! Only Japan is higher! The corporations are LEAVING and taking their corporations with them! My friends, government has a role in the economy. It isn't hands off. Government can lower taxes and make the tax cuts permanent!"

-John McCain a a "rally" in Atlanta this week.

Yea, he's some economic genius alright. What a joke. While he tries to "beef up" his economic platform, the Democratic side is busy defeating itself in the GE against this inanimate prop they have for a Republican nominee.

My friends, we must defeat this Model T robot and end this primary season NOW before it's too late.

1. Not only senile, he has PTSD.
I don't know how he couldn't after being in a prison camp for 7 years. This explains his uncontrolled anger that even his friends find disturbing.

16. I'm sure he had PTSD decades ago, but I'm not sure what timespan on that is
I know that some people can recover from it. Either way I wouldn't wish it on anyone. My friend has it, and it's awful.

26. That is so sad
:(

But we don't need anyone who has had that near the White House! We need an even tempered person especially after what Bush and his neocon allies have done in the world these last eight years. If McCain gets in there, the world will probably view it as an act of aggression. This man has made his stance clear!

33. Again, I agree that if he still suffers from PTSD he doesn't need to be in the White House
But again, from what I've heard people can recover from PTSD. If McCain is still unstable then indeed he should not be in the White House. Even if he is stable he shouldn't be in there, but that's another story.

I work with Veterans from Vietnam, Korea, and WWII who still have PTSD. Got one guy who screams and ducks when in a car that crosses a railroad track. He was in the Navy in WWII. Thats your timeline on PTSD just going away...

60. Nonsense.
Only a very small fraction of people who undergo horrific experiences end up diagnosable with PTSD. It is a myth that everybody who experiences trauma must be disordered and need therapy. In fact, there is emerging evidence that people who are funneled into therapy after a disaster are MORE likely to have PTSD symptoms a year later than people with similar symptoms who aren't.

Don't attempt armchair psychiatric diagnoses. There is plenty to use against McCain without stooping to that level.

Of course you can. People who respond like preschoolers do all sorts of foolish things.

With the attitude in your post, I am sure your request for a link was honest and based on your wish to learn more, rather than to have a pissing match on the boards. I am confident that you will go right out and find the studies to read, won't you?

Sure you will. :eyes:

If you decide to look, check out Gerald Rosen's research, nicely consolidated in his latest book.

17. The AMT scare is a creation of wall Street
to try to frighten enough average Americans into believing it's gonna bite them in the ass so that they will support its elimination, which would really benefit only the very wealthy.

I got hit last year because I sold a piece of property but I think I'll be safe this year.

42. Like I said, capital gains...
They use to piss and moan about capital gains being unfair....

But you know what, a dollar is a dollar no matter how you earn it...

Why should one be treated differently than another...

Beside, the regular tax rates are indexed to inflation and that should take care of any special treatment for Capital Gains...

No need to have the AMT if you don't have special provisions for one type of income over another...

It is not difficult in Washington to find high-level military officials who have had close encounters with John McCain's temper, and who find it worrisome. Politicians sometimes scream for effect, but the concern is that McCain has, at times, come across as out of control. It is difficult to find current or former officers willing to describe those encounters in detail on the record. That's because, by and large, those officers admire McCain. But that doesn't mean they want his finger on the proverbial button, and they are supporting Clinton or Obama instead.
<snip>
"I studied leadership for a long time during 32 years in the military," said retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Scott Gration, a one-time Republican who is supporting Obama. "It is all about character. Who can motivate willing followers? Who has the vision? Who can inspire people?" Gration asked. "I have tremendous respect for John McCain, but I would not follow him."

"One of the things the senior military would like to see when they go visit the president is a kind of consistency, a kind of reliability," explained retired Gen. Merrill McPeak, a former Republican, former chief of staff of the Air Force and former fighter pilot who flew 285 combat missions. McPeak said his perception is that Obama is "not that up when he is up and not that down when he is down. He is kind of a steady Eddie. This is a very important feature," McPeak said. On the other hand, he said, "McCain has got a reputation for being a little volatile." McPeak is campaigning for Obama.

What point are you trying to make?

McCain is no more a 'hero' than my father, who was a Marine at the Chosen Resevoir during Korea. He still has mortar round shrapnel coming out of his body.

And the nighmares to go with it.

Except his Daddy wasn't an Admiral that pulled strings so sonny boy could be a fighter jock, even though he wasn't smart enough, and an average pilot, at best, according to those that knew him at the time.

Fuck McCain and all his enablers that will send more Americans into war. Fuck them.

80. I disagree backtothefuture1999
John McCain was shot down over Vietnam, captured and spent 7 years in a POW camp.

A hero rushes inside a burning house and saves a baby.

A hero takes on a machine gun nest with no hope of surviving and wins. (I met a man that did this in Vietnam)

A hero spends his/her vacation working to build homes in NOLA.

A hero works in the inner city trying to save someone/anyone from a life of drugs and poverty.

John McCain is not a hero.

He failed on his defense of the Bush tax cuts after he was against it. He did this for political reasons. He is a political opportunist. He failed in his defense of the war in Iraq. The man doesn't know a thing about economics. He will ruin this country. He is literally BUSH III, but with a shorter circuit. And who knows who his VP might be! He needs a conservative to win over that wing of his party. If you don't think abortion will be in danger think again. If you don't think these neocon nutjobs will invade some country think again. He puts on this front like he is really different from the rest of the Repukes...like he is more ethical, straight, centrist. He caves. He let Rove and Bush drag his name through the mud, disparage his family, and because he wants to be president so bad, he has caved to everything he "says" he is against. He is a BS'r no straight talking angry man. He is attached to not only the hip of Bush, but also Bush's failed policies. The man plans to continue BUSHism. 51. I did indeed.
I volunteer my lift van for transport of wheelchair bound folks of all types. I waited patiently just outside rally and enjoyed a day off work to sit quietly and read my book. Obviously, sound travels..... Calling me a freeper and demanding I defend my charitable acts seems a little silly - but hey, if my being in a wheelchair, owning a lift van, and volunteering to transport anyone needing a ride makes me a freep, then so be it.

:hi:

None of which changes the fact that quote and what I heard do not match.

55. I don't particularly care about what you THINK you heard
that is the quote. I think your defense of John McCain is strange. Who gives a damn if this man added a "my friends" in between the bs in that quote. That is what he SAID.

Maybe I'm senile too.

A home video from your personal visit to John McCain's rally would be helpful.

You're challenging the quote, you prove it wrong. What did I leave out of the snippet? A "my friends" here, a "my friends" there? Good grief!! JOHN MCCAIN IS THE ENEMY!

70. Who knows
maybe the rally you attended and the one I attended were 2 different ones.

Of course they had to be 2 different rallies, when you attended "your" rally it proved you are a loyal democrat, and when I attended the rally I did, it was proof positive I belong over there with JimRob.

I read that it was caused from an injury while he was a POW, and then I also read that it was due to his bout with cancer. Does anyone here know for sure?

78. McCain may be right about the Corporate Tax
Higher corporate taxes punish the more productive outfits while
rewarding the less efficient outfits via tax breaks.

Every penny of corporate tax is ultimately paid by the consumer.
They just jack up the price to pay the taxes.

Higher corporate taxes on domestic corporations encourages them
to outsource jobs to foreign lands where tax rates are lower.

Higher taxes should be paid by high income individuals, not corporations.
That way the highly paid CEO types pay higher taxes but the corporation
is encouraged to keep local jobs.

79. Well, I for one would be happy to get rid of the AMT.
H*A*P*P*Y

Stop letting corporations set up shop overseas and avoid paying taxes to bring in revenue. Let's put the money back into the hands of hte taxpapers.

We pay the AMT every year...and it's ass ridiculous is what it is. We can't deduct a single one of our 5 children from our taxes, our mortgage interest....nothing...and we pay an outrageous amount of money in taxes.

Why bother to go to school and work your ass off in America? I agree with McCain on this one. I'm not going to vote for him....I'm a Clinton gal who will rally behind the dem nominee....but I agree with McCain about the AMT.

81. saying McCain is senile is as bad as saying Obama's a secret Muslim
McCain has undergone several tests to prove he is of sound mind. And, gee, don't you think his wife would have noticed something like that and told him not to run?

There are lots of things to criticise McCain for, but playing the age card, is as bad as playing the race card with Obama.
