Hillary herself makes it WORSE by reinforcing comparison of Obama to Ken Starr
Edited on Sat Mar-08-08 09:07 AM by Armstead
Clinton's communications manager pulled a cheap shot smear of Obama by comparing him to Ken Starr.

Okay. We all know that. Really bad that a campaign would compare Obama to someone most Democrats consider to be a Monster.

BUT THEN at a press conference, Hillary repeated the smear. A reporter asked her about it and at first said it was not really an insult but a "historical reference."

Then when pressed by a reporter, Hillary made it worse. Rather than retracting or even softening Wolfson's claim, Hillary bolstered it by saying it was an accurate comparison.

So Hillary herself compared Obama to Ken Starr.

Is there nothing these people won't stoop to?

1. But she's "vetted" so it shouldn't matter, right?

16. She doesn't WANT to be vetted! Why?
I really fear what is going to come out about the taxes during the Fall campaign. We need to know BEFORE we make a choice as to who would be our strongest nominee, not after it is too late to do anything about it. Why didn't Hillary disclose her tax return last April when it was filed?

And it pissed me off that we defended them all these years, only for her to turn that on a fellow Dem and likely nominee.

7. You need to go back and Study Logic 101
Your supposition does not follow at all.

In fact a more logical assumption is:

If people are angry at a comparison of Obama to Ken Starr, it would follow that they hate Ken Starr.

18. You need to study History 101.
In Politics, you are only as good as your recent actions.

Hillary supporters loved Olberman until he became an Obama infomercial. Now they don't like him.

Pelosi enjoyed the greatest admiration of the people here on DU, until the first thing they disagreed with.

Biden was trash when he was so adament about the Bankruptcy bill, then had a great number of admirers when he ran for Pres.

Drudge is evil, evil trash, unless he is exposing the Clinton campaign for passing around Obama emails.

Where were you when Obama was comparing the Clinton presidency against that of the Nixon administration????

11. Precisely why saying it was smart and reinforcing it was smarter.
And the comparison is accurate.

Ken Starr did not find that anyone helped Clinton buy her house.

15. She may or may not release it. I don't think she should. It's none of your or Obama's business.
If and when she decides, it's on her timetable -- not his or yours.

17. She filed it last April...she has had plenty of time.
I have a totally different view. I think a candidate is a servant to the people and the party, not the other way around. She owes it to us as Democrats and as US citizens to be upfront with us about their finances. If there is no shit behind them, it would HELP Hillary now wouldn't it?! She could BRAG that she has been clean and fully disclosed. Why does she prevent herself from having that opportunity? I think we all know the answer to to that question, because if there is one thing we KNOW about Hillary Clinton it is that any thing that could be used for her political gain will!

If there is dirt in her returns, we need as a party to find out before we nominate her so we can make a decision as a party whether she is the best nominee. We need to make informed decisions. It would be tragic if these returns came out AFTER it was too late to do anything about it and they contained harmful items.

Denial will not win us elections against the Republicans.

Even the Obama supporters. The hate towards Hillary primarily started at the time of the IWR vote. It has only intensified during the campaign.

A spokesman talked about imitating Starr's tactics. Tactics that are, by the way, used here every single day by Clinton-haters.

20. She said it -- not just a spokesman
She had a chance to distance herself or refute the comparison. Instead she chose to agree with it and reinforce it from her own mouth.

22. The more the Obama campaign bashes Hillary
The more Hillary's supporters will reconsider an Obama vote if he is the nominee. After all, we do have a 3rd party candidate that is more progressive then Obama or Hillary. And, by the time of the convention in august, Obama's camp will have slammed Hillary so much, her supporters will think twice between Obama and Nader if Obama is the nominee.

30. Clinton will be a GE disaster for the Democrats.
She will pull 45% tops and result in an EC landslide for McCain. The downticket candidates for the Democrats will be damaged accordingly.

And you don't think, now that Clinton has revealed herself for what she is, Joe Liberman in a pantsuit, that Obama supporters, and other progressives, will sit this one out?

33. Not at all a good comparison
It's standard fare for politicians to call for opponents to release their tax returns, when opponents don't do it on their own.

Hillary did the same thing to Rick Lazio in her Senate race.

Ergo sum: If Obama is Ken Starr for asking Hillary to release her returns, then Hillary is Ken Starr for the same reason.

Furthermore, if Bill Clinton had not LIED about his affair in then first place, the whole impeachment crap would have died down a lot sooner, with a lot less damage done to himself and the Democratic Party.
