| If Obama Is To Be Our Nominee, Then We Need To Keep Michelle Under Wraps. |
Seriously. She can be a loose cannon and doesn't think before she speaks. She comes off as unstable at times and to people who aren't die hard almost blinded Obama supporters, some of her actions and words can be unsettling. I don't care a damn THING about which ends up being the nominee when it comes down to it. Battles here or not, that's just for entertainment. I think we have two awesome candidates and I'm excited about either of them running. But what I DO care about, ALL I care about, is winning in November. That's it. At the end of the day, that's all I give a fuck about. If Obama is the choice, he could thump the shit out of McCain. But if Michelle is too visible, and continues to say or do questionable things, she could SINGLE HANDEDLY lose us the election. Some think this is all fun and games, but it ain't. November may well be the most important election of our lifetimes. We can't allow that to be put at risk by someone with reckless lips, so to speak. This isn't something to take lightly. November is all that matters. Winning is all that matters. Until she learns how to be a bit more seasoned in how she handles herself, and gains control of herself a bit, I don't want her visible out there at all. I do not find her to be an asset, as it relates to the General Election. In fact, I think if there's ANYTHING that could come out of the blue and derail our chances unexpectedly, it could be something that comes from her.
That's my parting thoughts before I head to bed. We have a great shot in November. Let's hope inexperienced people with lots of visibility, don't fuck it up for us.

such things back then.
Uh...this is just plain insulting with nothing constructive to say whatsoever.
| 18. I Can Understand That. But It's Not The 95% Of Her That Matters. |
I listen to her speeches and am often times inspired. I think she has some great qualities and convictions. What I'm concerned about, is the 5% of her that isn't quite refined to where it needs to be. Why am I concerned? Because in the heat of a general election, the wrong comment, whether in or out of context, at the right time, can literally sink an entire campaign. That's what I'm concerned about. November is too damn important. Now granted, for people like us here on DU, it is easy to see why she'd be well liked. But it's gonna take a HELL of a lot more than people like us to win in November, and if she says or does the wrong thing, it could destroy our chances.
And lest someone think I'm joking or being overdramatic, I'm not. Think about: If this was in the thick of the General Election, and even as a joke she said she wanted to rip McCain's eyes out while making a clawing motion, do you have any idea how quickly that would be used against us? Any idea how quickly something like that would spread like wildfire and be whored up by the media? How much damage that could do that the potential first lady said she wanted to rip the eyes out of a perceived war hero? Now granted, she didn't say that about McCain, she said it about Bill. But she could've, and has the potential to. That's my concern. Because comments like that, even as jokes, can be used as HUGE ammunition against us.
We have a tremendous shot at winning the white house. We HAVE to do this. We just HAVE to. We have to start undoing all this damage. I don't want anything reckless putting that at risk, and I'm sorry if others disagree, but I absolutely consider her comments at time to be reckless. It only takes one stellanoir... To sink our whole campaign it only takes one...
| 51. I hear your heart felt concerns. |
I sit here with my talons contracted feeling the very same way. I know we respectively differ about our presumptive nominee but we are united that we both don't want McCain.
That would be horrible and so retroactive.
Peace bro.
| 206. If only Hillary felt the way you do... |
| 103. So what, in the scheme of things, is Michelle that important, but am sure |
she is backing Senator Obama. Why you have to pick on her, she is not running for the President of the US. Give it a rest, will ya!
| 4. She will be the most interesting First Lady ever! |
I think she is wonderful.
They are an amazing family!
| 10. For her to be a first lady, he has to be elected first. |
| 15. First, she has to be a lady (eom) |
| 37. That Was Pretty Uncalled For. |
She's a good woman and there's no reason to attack her to that degree.
I do think she might have some anger issues and some impulse stability issues, but she's still a great strong woman who overall is an incredible person. I just have some serious concerns about her bringing risk to us in the GE. But she really didn't deserve that sort of comment from you, with all due respect.
| 80. Wanting to "rip [Bill Clinton's] eyes out!" is not how ladies speak |
| 185. ...when they're joking, yes..... Since you "question everything"... maybe you ought to.... |
..question why you lack a sense of humor.
| 59. She's already a lady so that |
part is already taken care of, so the next step is Obama being sworn is as Presdent.
| 203. woman yes, lady - not so much so |
| 113. Now who is being mysogynistic? |
I guess it is ok to be mysogynistic about a black woman but not Hillary I suppose?
| 6. I haven't paid much attention |
because of the hatefullness on each side, but I must question you.
Michelle comes off as unstable? Unsettling? Questionable things? Reckless lips? Control of herself?
Examples? I'm surprised to hear these as she's so bright, but as I said, I haven't paid attention. I agree, November is what matters.
| 7. I like her, but I agree that we don't need her causing any problems for us. |
She'd make a feisty first lady, but until then, she may want to think before she speaks more often than she does currently.
| 20. That's All I'm Sayin. |
And I'm glad you know where I'm coming from.
| 35. You agree that "we don't need her causing any problems for us." |
| 127. Let me elaborate my feelings on the matter. Michelle likes to speak her mind. |
Some of the things she says, while funny or pointed, will not play well with Joe Six-pack and could hurt Obama. It's stupid, it's not fair, but it is what it is. I'm just saying that maybe she could be encouraged to think before she speaks until the election is over.
| 8. I would agree with that. |
She needs to stay out of the limelight and the campaign.
| 9. She doesn't speak like a politician...she doesn't monitor and focus group |
everything that she says...
Oh the fucking horror...
Actually it is - I changed my mind, cause people can build up comments that mean absolutely nothing to destroy a good candidate, and a good family...
Politics are stupid!
| 23. You Hit The Nail On The Head. |
It isn't about us or how we'd perceive things. It's all about the machine and how others would perceive things. The wrong comment at the right time, could sink our campaign faster than you could imagine. We've seen it happen. We've seen it happen numerous times already. Personally, I don't see Barack making any huge snafus since he's proven to me he's got what it takes. But I definitely have some big concerns about Michelle.
| 11. To late, there’s already enough out there. |
| 12. Michelle is refreshing. I love her. |
Laura Bush puts me into a coma.
| 33. No doubt Michelle is as cool as heck |
But I am a little wary of a slip of the tongue, or the media playing gotcha! with her.
thisMichelle should speak up and not let the people who are afraid of their own shadows silence her, not even at 3AM.
| 63. I had forgotten that one! Wooo! Make that an OP! nt |
| 207. OMG! I'd never heard that one before. Unbelievable!!!!!! |
| 42. Well, let's blame the media then. I think she's refreshing as hell. |
| 71. Well, of course, the media will always be against us |
I just hope she doesn't give them anything they can run with at a critical time. I truly do like her, and can't wait to see her as First Lady. I'm just saying I'd be cautious with her at events. We know right-leaning Indies are going to be listening to the RW media that will do whatever they can to take her out of context. We Democrats are smarter than that, and are hip to the media, the fence-sitters, maybe, maybe not.
| 77. Yep. The MSM ain't nobody's buddy. At least not in the Democratic Party. |
Also, it wouldn't bother me that much if Wolf Blitzer got devoured by a half a dozen polar bears.
| I do, too. Like a breath of fresh air in a room filled with acrid fumes. |
| 14. years and years ago my hubby worried about that..... and sons as they got older to be embarrassed |
and all three of my guys have concluded that EVERYONE loves me. in all my outrageous and fun and play and passion, and not the all in order and in place that we are suppose to be, i am a favorite where ever i go. parties, dinners, to do's with the to do people, kids stuff....
my guys arent afraid anymore. as a matter of fact they have come to appreciate, value and take advantage. it is not a scary thing.
i feel the passion in michelle and in teresa and people oh so afraid. they need to just relax. with women like that, for whatever reason, it always works out ok.
But I just can't get past that 'I want to rip his eyes out' comment while making a clawing motion with her hand. Seems innocent enough, but in the General Election against McCain, if she were to say such a thing, it would be hyped up to levels you wouldn't believe. The outrage would be blinding I think. That's why I'm in a tizzy right now. I see risk, and I don't wanna see any risk going into November. It's just too damn important this time...
| 39. i will tell ya.... they are not going to like very many of the dem wives. |
just too independent, passionate, individual and your just not gonna be able to keep any under wraps cause they would say fuck you.....
or, we can have a stepford wife like laura and i would wonder about any man that married one of those. and no man is worthe becoming one, not even a future president
It isn't about being independent, passionate or individual. It's about saying comments off the cuff like "I want to rip his eyes out", while making clawing motions in the air.
Seems harmless enough, but things like that in the midst of the GE could be used to decimate us. We've seen it before. It could have devastating consequences. We cannot put November at risk. That's all I'm sayin.
| 58. i do get it. she is colorful. not a dull grey. sorry, i thought it was fun and funny |
when she caught the person eye and laughed at self and said, this is what i get in trouble for.... i identify. i fell in love with her that minute. some arent going ot like her. she will do fine or not. i admire a man that can be married to a woman like her. the more i admire the man, the more i will work for him
you worry about her.
| 126. I like your diplomacy |
I think it will all work out too
| 16. She does come off as very angry, at least in the speeches I have listened to on the net. |
I was surprised, as I had never heard anyone mention it. I just had one of those "whoa" reactions.
| 24. She appears passionate to me, not angry. |
| 78. Then by all means, give her an open mic and let her go at it. |
Don't even bother to consider my suggestion was was intentioned.
I was just trying to say how I see her. I have heard/seen a few of her speeches. She did not seem angry, but passionate about how she would like our country to be. I don't think folks should be afraid to hear her out. She also seems kind of funny (humorous) to me. I bet she has a great personality.
| 17. So the powerful independant woman who speaks her mind |

| 32. If It Would Put Our Chances In November At Risk? ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY. |
It's not the fact that she's powerful or independent that matters. It's the fact that right now, she has the capability to slip and say things that could be used against us mightily. That's a problem. Anything that brings risk to our chances in November is a problem. Do you NOT see how important winning in November is???
| 21. I like her. She says what she thinks...much like my hero Elizabeth Edwards. n/t |
| 22. I think you're a little harsh, but |
I do hope that they limit her time in front of the cameras, because she IS such a straight-shooter. Although, frankly, there could be absolutely nothing for the MSM to go after, and they'd create something anyway. Then the drones can go and mindlessly vote the will of the conservatives, because they were told that (fill in the blank, MSM falsehood) was such an outrage that they can only vote Republican now. It's going to be a tough fight no matter what, simply because of the Republican control of the airwaves. But yes, we don't want to just hand them juicy soundbites, either.
| 25. She suffers from bouts of diarhea of the mouth. |
| 29. At least she hasn't told any Ghandi owns a gas station or plantation jokes. |
| 49. Ya' mean like Shillary? |
Afterall; she could pass for Lie-berman in her 'love affair' for lobbyist-boy Noshame McCain.
| 27. I wouldn't mind seeing her in Saran wrap. |

| 31. What the heck is a "cooperate" lawyer? |
And no, she's not a corporate lawyer either.
| 55. Ex-Corporate lawyer then. She should still know how to act in public |
| 36. Not having TV, I've seen very little of her but |
that Bill Clinton remark is a whopper, and there have been other gaffes from her. She needsd to tone it down considerably.
| 43. The Bill Clinton remark was a joke, clearly stated, it's ridiculous to pretend otherwise. n/t |
it can be used in a way that is not useful. And the comment about never having been proud of America before and other slips. She needs to be careful.
| 65. That's nonsense! If they want to jump on something they will. Why be afraid? |
The comment was mis-characterized, but then again Obama's patriotism was brought into question because of a lapel pin (and that began before Michelle's comment).
I don't buy into fear over being outspoken. What Michelle said wasn't dumb, and people say dumb things all the time. Hillary has a lot of those moments.
So speak up Michelle, and this attempt to paint her as some loose cannon is bullshit!
| 82. "If they want to jump on something they will." |
Best. ProSense. Quote. EVER. --p!
I honestly believe that Michelle Obama would do more to advance feminism as First Lady than Sen. Clinton would by winning the WH. It isn't about their titles, but rather about the strength and character of the individual woman.
| 45. Thank You Cali For Understanding. |
I'm not saying this in some partisan way. There's times for games here and tit for tats, but there are also times when serious consideration is required. I'm the biggest wiseass there is and lord knows most of the time in here I'm not being serious. But there's nothing more serious to me than winning in November, REGARDLESS of who the candidate is. I see some of these comments from her every so often, and I get a pit in my stomach that if she did some of these things in the midst of the GE, that it could have dire consequences for us. That terrifies me. And it does so not because of which candidate I do or don't support, but because at the end of the day, as a country, as a world, we NEED the white house in November.
| 46. Are you referring to her joke about clawing his eyes out? |
| 56. I Want You To Be Really Honest With Yourself For A Second: |
If she said that comment and did the claw motion, in the general election and towards McCain, who is a perceived war hero by many, just how do you think the media would spin it? How much do you think they'd take it and run with it? How many voters would then end up with this bad taste in their mouths and question her? How fast could it sink our entire campaign?
Think about it. Seriously think about it. Think in the terms of the GE. Think in the terms of that comment being directed at McCain, and how that could be twisted and exaggerated by the media and talking heads to totally make us look bad. If she could so easily say it off the cuff about Bill, what would stop her from saying similar things about McCain? If she did, do you have any IDEA how heavily that could be used against us?
That's all I'm sayin, and I'm off to bed. Take your partisan blinders off for a moment and just think about it. Really think about it. Ok?
Peace.
| 38. Well said, OMC. Why does she need all this attention? |
She seems to be a smart woman and then every week or so, I read some BS she spouted. I'd hate to see her spout like that on a foreign trip or at a dinner with dignitaries. STFU, Michelle! You aren't that funny!

| 62. She should stop having hissy fits, you're right !! |
This isn't about HER!!!!
We don't care about her sense of humor and sarcasm!!
She should try to adopt a sense of dignity.
She makes her husband look bad by these outbursts and
I definitely don't want those comments being made if
they make it to the WH. She needs to grow up.
Was she drinking at the time she said that?
| 69. "Was she drinking at the time she said that?" Idiocy acknowledged. n/t |

You are naive'! Maybe she was stoned then? Yeah... I'm sure NONE of the First Lady's drank or the President's either!! Get a grip.

continued working while Dean campaigned. Stop lying. Get your facts straight.
And wtf does HRC have to do with this discussion about Dean? Are you drunk?
HRC caused her husband trouble while he got a BJ!?!
You are drunk!!

Edited on Sat Mar-08-08 12:51 AM by seabeyond
she caused dean more problems than teresa ever did to kerry. everyone had a problem because this woman just wanted to do her thing, left every one alone, support her husband and it was a huge deal to media and others wondering what would dean do if he didnt have his wife in washington
if you would quit with the fits and think a tad about the posts without jumping up and down ranting while reading.
it doesnt matter how the woman presents herself, unless it is a stepford wife, there is problems. couldnt get better behaved than dean wife, but didnt fit the mode someone has given us for first lady
i loved deans wife too, for her independence and insistance to stay who she was. quiet dignity
| 89. Mrs. Dr. Dean did NOT cause Dr. Gov. Dean any problems!! |

You are referencing what the M$M SAID!!! Get it yet?? They spun it and YOU bought it... ... just like you seem to be buying everything they're feeding you now! Naive' much? Grow up.

along with the other men when their wives were attacked by republicans, dem operatives and msm.
deans problem was as much as the dems operatives "wondering" as it was msm. kinda like this board is doing with michelle right now.
| 93. But you said it was Mrs. Dr. Dean's fault. Which is it? |
I saw her speak in a small venue and can't say enough good things about her. She's exactly the kind of First Lady I've wanted to see in the White House since I was a little girl. She's a quick learner - she'll be more than ready by the general election.
But it's gonna take more than us, who would look past such snafus, to win the GE in November.
All I can say is this:
If she would've said that rip his eyes out comment, while clawing the air, during the GE towards McCain, I think we'd sink like a rock. That's all I'm sayin.
Like I said above, it isn't about the 95%, or maybe even 99%, of her that's awesome. It's about the remaining %, the % that causes her to say reckless things at times, that is of great concern to me.
| 61. unless she got a shit eating grin on her face and a twinkle in the eye and the audience |

| 188. not really, the article comes out Monday |
| 54. Michelle might be like Betty Ford |
she was a loose cannon too. Betty spoke what was on her mind, sometimes it was embarassing but it was true and she was really popular. Betty was loved by the public, much more than her husband ever was.
| 64. that is what i am saying. women like this people fall in love with. why? |
cause they have life in them, they are sincere and speak truth, they connect and people love it. as much as media says we are suppose to love stepford wife and how perfect she is, .... empty, nothing, .... no passion. boring. people dont connect to laura bush
| 70. Loved? I don't remember that at all... |
That was a concoction of the M$M.
| 109. Loved is probably the wrong word, Betty |
was admired and popular. I remember her being so much more popular than Ford. Betty was popular enough that campaign buttons said "Betty's Husband for President" on them because she was much better liked than him.
| 110. And she was always stoned. Go figure.... |
| 192. I really respect and admire Ms Obama |
so much so that she has been my sig pic for a while now. BUT I do understand what the OP is getting at. She has a wicked sense of humor that even she recognizes gets her in trouble. On the other hand, she is an incredibly effective spokesperson for Barack.
This is her first sustained time in the national spotlight and she's bound to make "mistakes," unless she behaves like Pickles. We do have to be careful that she isn't turned into a stereotype, like the "feisty yet lovable black woman next door" on a sitcom, because I can imagine the media doing it.
| 199. stereotype "feisty yet lovable black woman next door" had one poster already n.t |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sister_Souljah_moment Q: But even the people themselves who were perpetrating that violence, did they think it was wise? Was that wise, reasoned action? A: Yeah, it was wise. I mean, if black people kill black people every day, why not have a week and kill white people? You understand what I'm saying? In other words, white people, this government, and that mayor were well aware of the fact that black people were dying every day in Los Angeles under gang violence. So if you're a gang member and you would normally be killing somebody, why not kill a white person? Do you think that somebody thinks that white people are better, or above and beyond dying, when they would kill their own kind?
| 68. Unfortunately, I agree with you |
I think the Obama campaign has already taken care of this issue. She's not been very visible lately, except to stand next to Barack and smile.
| 72. Agree. She goes off message WAY too much and usually does it in the worst way possible. |
| 74. I hope you weren't being sexist, when you made that comment |
| 75. She isn't acting to smart by making those "silly" comments either. |
| 97. And Hillary graduated from Yale law. |
But that didn't stop her from being ripped to shreds when she was First Lady. Michelle's in for the same treatment, because she's even more outspoken than Hillary was.
| 132. Yes, I Was Absolutely Being Sexist. Thank You, Thank You So Much For Exposing Me. |
| 76. Wow, everything you just said reminds me of hillary, NOT Michelle /nt |
| 100. But that's the problem. Michelle is in for the same treatment Hillary got |
when she was First Lady. Our country seems to prefer Stepford wife helpers as First Lady, not real live women with their own strong interests.
Oh, I don't know. I think people might enjoy hearing a first lady say what she means for once. And for those people who find Obama a bit of a stick, she might be just the thing that attracts them to him.
| 86. and he has been state senator twice and senator a term. she hasnt been under a rock n.t |
| 123. Barack Obama has been U.S. Senator 1/2 a term. Peace *NT* |
She is a mother, a wife and a lawyer. She has every right to freedom of speech. When Bill shuts up maybe Michelle should pull the claws in but she has every right to defend her husband until then.
| 101. And so was Hillary, when she was First Lady, but from the first minute |
she got there, she was criticized because she didn't fit the stepford wife mold.
Michelle has not done anything big enough to fuck up the election. She is learning the ropes as she goes along, but she will not have a Dean scream moment. If anything, Michelle will help Obama win the election, and these fears of her saying the wrong thing are way overblown. If that is your biggest concern, we will be fine.
I am more afraid of your girl Hillary saying some stuff that will hurt the Democrats chances of winning the election than Michelle.
| 98. Yep, she has none of her husband's better instincts for PR |
| 99. I emailed Barakcobama.com the same thing, I love her but another Power moment not advisable really. |
| 102. Have you heard her speak in person? I have, and nothing you say is remotely true. She's a class act |
| 105. I hate to admit it but I agree |
Edited on Sat Mar-08-08 02:07 AM by fujiyama
She seems like an intelligent, outspoken and independent minded woman, similar to Hillary in many ways...
But some of her comments seems kinda nutty, like the "clawing Clinton's eyes out" thing. I found it sort of bizarre to say the least. I don't think these kind of comments would settle well with many. She'll have to a way of saying thing ummm...a bit more diplomatically...
I don't like the idea of anyone being "tamed" or "handled" but I also know that Theresa Heiz Kerry turned some off. I don't really know why. But my friend said that she was a reason his mom didn't vote for KErry. But that might have just been an excuse...
| 107. Can't wait for the first SNL skit about Michelle |

I hear you, but I really do adore uppity, outside-conventional-wisdom women like Michelle.

| 119. You mean like Clinton should have kept Hillary under wraps? |
That would have been stupid then and it is stupid to say what you are saying now. HRC caused flare ups in 1992 just as Michelle has this time. The reasons is that it is beyond easy to extract the line or two from the context that explains or softens something. What this reflects is the RW has the echo chamber. No one can speak as often as these people do and not have a line or two that taken by itself look bad when twisted.

There's enuf BS out there to defend. I'd rather not have to defend MO as well. Just smile and wave honey. I'm gonna get it now.
| 125. Some part of Bill Clinton will have to be kept under wraps, for sure |

If he becomes First Man. I think the American public adjusts. They had to adjust a whole lot, I recall, to Hillary Clinton's personality. However, I appreciate your tone very much compared to that used by some of the low life posting in this thread.

Hillary can shoot off her mouth, even endorsing McCain for President! If anyone here doesn't like her insane tactics, they are labeled sexist. But any women that doesn't support Queen Hillary needs to be slapped down and put in place eh? Hypocrites! I've never heard Michelle endorse McCain for President! Hillary is the one that needs to be under wraps! Shit Hillary already forced one woman out of her job, now shes after another one!

a male candidate's wife. Yup. That makes soooooooooo much sense...

I don't think she could do much good. The media will be on her like they were with Hillary. She can't say anything even borderline.

disagree with their awesomeness, but that's another matter.
And I agree that Bill is as much a loose cannon as Michelle. He may get away with more because of position, but as was anticipated when she first gave indication she might run, the relationship creates an awkwardness and he is as much of a detriment as a plus
Spouses should be seen and not heard in politics, IMO.
| 136. As soon as we manage to control Bill ... |
Really, nothing she's said is objectionable, and I bristle at the idea that a grown woman needs to be controlled.
She's smart and tough and pretty clear-eyed, I think. Not to mention entitled to her opinion. If her candidate has no problem with what she says in the public eye, then I certainly don't.
| 143. The RW slime machine would really have a field day with some of her remarks. |
I hear Obama supporters on this board repeating that there's nothing to dig up on Obama, but they have not even begun their assault on him. Not to mention, that what they can't find they will fabricate out of thin air. He certainly doesn't need his wife to be out there providing them with ammunition.

| 186. They already have. One comment she made was one host's entire show last week. |

It was the "Barack is the only one who can fix your broken souls". That kind of stuff needs to be muzzled quickly.
| 145. We need another Stepford wife!! |
| 146. Miss The Point Much? How Silly. |
My apologies that the OP was too deep for you. Next time, I'll just post a "Hillary rocks!!!!" or somethin like it that you could grasp a bit better.
| 159. Why are you so rude and condescending? |
Do you think you are righteous in your arrogance? Does it boost your ego to be so confrontational? What is the goal here? Bullying and belittling anything and anyone who does not share your position as judge and jury?
| 164. It Was An Accurate Reply. Deal With It. |
You didn't disagree with my position whatsoever. In fact, you offered no rebuttal or any sign whatsoever that you comprehended the point of the OP and were intent on discussing the merits. Instead, you posted a completely empty and void of substance response of "We need another Stepford wife!!", which clearly shows that you missed the point of the OP entirely, and that you didn't even come close to showing the depth that was found in the OP. You issued a completely shallow and nonsensical statement that had little to no relevance in relation to what the OP was saying. That's just quite simply calling it like I see it, and your post stands there as proof. So your whole "belittling anyone who does not share my position" thing is really quite silly, since you didn't disagree with my position whatsoever. Instead, you completely missed the position.
Don't blame me for your inadequacies.
| 170. What a waste of time... |
I chide myself on even responding to you. I won't be doing it again. Ignore
| 171. Oh Noes!! How Will I Ever Live Without The Thoughtless, Empty And Not Related To Context Replies!!! |
| 147. You may be right but I am more concerned with Hillary shutting her yap |
with respect to throwing Obama under the bus while putting McCain on a pedestal.
| 148. Did she say something else? |
You posted this before. Has she said something else in the meantime?
| 154. She Said During An Interview, When Asked About How She Felt About The 'Fairytale' Comment, That She |

wants to rip Bill Clinton's eyes out, while she made a clawing motion in the air. After she got the 'eye' from one of the advisers, she said "just kidding". It was a joke on her part, but still definitely a pretty unstable thing to say. If she said something like that about McCain in the GE, it could all sorts of be catapulted to levels that could damage the hell out of us. Sometimes, she needs to stop and think before she speaks.

I think this is more about your sense of humor, or lack thereof.

Sorry, honey, but Hillary's already a long way down that path. Anything Michelle Obama has said to date has been nowhere near as damaging as Hillary's campaigning.
So how about we all unite behind a big "Hillary, STFU!" campaign? And we can "worry" about Michelle once Obama is the actual nominee.

| 205. my kids would feel her warmth and love and passion and fall in love in a heart beat |
i see your sarcasm btw... i get it.
| 224. i responding the a poster omc. your sarcasm has nothing to do with |
my comment to the poster.
| 193. Maybe she should have a piece of duct tape over her mouth and we should all become fascist |
Really, what in the hell is happening around here? I have just checked in on this board and its ridiculous post after ridiculous post. Have we forgotten our main enemy around here? Rethugs wants us to infight. We are the party diehards and faithful and we are tearing each other apart. Some of you need slaps over the head and a good spanking. Wake up before its too late and stop being so ugly yo your fellow Dems, we are going to need each other come GE time. Or perhaps if your candidate does not win the nom you will just stay home and cry like a bunch of whiny losers. Come on people! I can't take 4 more years of Rethug rule! Bill Clinton, Michele Obama. Who cares? Are they really all that important?
| 197. They're More Important Than You Realize. |
Like you, all I care about is November. Some of the comments she's made already, had they been made at the right time during the GE, could've damaged us severely. That's a fact. If she continues to make these sorts of mistakes when we are in the midst of the GE battle, she could have an amazingly negative impact on our chances. That's a political fact, whether you want it to be or not. So yes, they are that important.
| 198. She will be First Lady period. I voted for Bill Clinton but ignored Hillary. Voted Kerry too. |
| 201. To be honest, I've made comments like hers: |
"I'd like to claw so-and-so's eyes out!" - referring to sundry jerks who richly deserved it - and meant it. Didn't pretend afterward that it was just a joke. I don't consider myself unstable, just passionate, and unwilling to take crap without firing back. On the other hand, I'm not reflecting on a husband who's running for high office. While I'd never advise someone not to be themselves, not to be true to their own nature, and certainly never to be something or someone other than who they are, there's a time and a place for some restraint. Truthfully I know zilch about Michelle Obama, but she may want to calculate her words a little more carefully in the future. At least until she's in the White House, if that's how it goes.
| 202. This situation has definite comic potential. |
It's almost enough to make me look forward to next fall.
| 208. Bill did a GREAT job of keeping in under control (think Jesse Jackson) |
| 209. Should Michelle Obama also sit in the back of the bus? |
| 217. I'm Sorry, Were You Trying To Say Something That Didn't Make You Look Like A Jackass? |
Cause, like, ya know, ya kinda failed and stuff...
| 211. She is quite the gaffe machine, isn't she? |
| 222. Stepford wives only! nt |
| 223. Woooohooooo!!! Another One With Nothing Else To Say But Knee Jerk Malarkey!! Yay For You!!!! |
I mean, it's not like a few other knee jerkers with nothing to say didn't post that already or anything. I mean, your emptiness was TOTALLY original! Oy vey open your mind. It only hurts at first, I promise.
| 225. no omc there are just a lot of people that disagree with you. n/t |
| 227. No Seabeyond, There Are People Who Are Responding With Knee Jerk Ignorance. |
Glad to see your arrogance in constantly replying for others, but I'm not interested in what YOU have to say as it relates to them.
In this case, the poster offered another parroted void of substance remark in a knee jerk fashion, that had NO relation to the substance of the OP whatsoever. It was uncreative and silly, and had nothing to do with disagreement since no disagreement was made as it relates to context and no rebuttal given. Instead, it was nothing more than a silly knee jerk comment.
So please, spare me your empty defense of others. If you're going to choose to do such a thing, maybe do it in response to a post you can, like, ya know, actually defend.
| 228. no omc if they disagree with you it does not make them ignorant. |

i do reply on other peoples posts, this is a message board and omc you did the same right above on one of my posts about kids. it is ok, i will not criticize you for it because this is a message board and it is what we do.
it very few words the poster gave a whole story to exactly what your op is. if you are too obtuse or too stubborn or just refuse to allow people to express their way, well then.... so be it. but many people know exactly what the poster says and how it relates and many of us are in full agreement.
and you dont get spared. if i feel the like urge, to like respond, i will like, respond, however like i want to. but like since like i have never like used like in my conversation, like..... i wonder why you feel the need to imply that is how i respond in posts.
| 229. They Did No Such Thing. They Missed The Point Entirely And Offered Ignorant Knee Jerk Response. |
Edited on Sun Mar-09-08 12:26 AM by OPERATIONMINDCRIME
That's a fact. It's a sign of an ignorant and narrow mind when posts like that are made.
There was no argument nor rebuttal presented. Only and empty, void of substance, completely missing the point of the OP knee jerk statement. It wasn't disagreement, it was knee jerk ignorance.
See, let me spell it out for you: Since my OP had NOTHING to do with wanting a stepford wife, someone replying sarcastically about that, thereby saying "no, I don't want a stepford wife", is not disagreeing with the OP at all, since the OP said no such thing. Instead what they're doing, is either missing the point entirely and ignorantly replying to a point that never existed to begin with, or are purposely twisting the OP in an empty, misguided, knee jerking manner.
But since a comment of wanting a stepford wife has NOTHING to do with any argument put forth in the OP, then there was no disagreement nor substantial argument found in that reply. It was just empty headed ignorant garbage. That's a fact sister.
And you can reply however you want. I'm just advising you that when you defend an empty headed ignorant post, it in turn makes you look the same. You might want to pick a bit more wisely in the future.
| 230. in YOUR opinion they are ignorant, in fact it could be insightful, as i and others feel it is |
Edited on Sun Mar-09-08 12:44 AM by seabeyond
the argument is simple, many people feel the first lady should be made into the stepford wife. but then you know people think this because they are saying it all the way down the thread. instead of calling them all ignorant, you might wonder why so many conclude that from your op and take responsibility. i cannot belief omc, you would get every last ignorant person on du to come on YOUR thread.
now i will spell it out for you: since you feel this woman needs to be "controlled" people "feel" you are suggesting a stepford wife because that tends to be the way in a females experience.
the comment of stepford wife had everything to do with it, you refuse to acknowledge it.
and i am advising you, when a poster says something you disagree with to reduce it to ignorance or any other name calling you have chosen on this thread or your sarcasm or other manners of putting poster down that doesnt agree with you reflects on ........ you.
you and i can go back and forth on htis until the cow jumps over the moon. the reality is you and i disagree. it happens
| 232. Use As Many Words You Want. The Ignorance In Those Replies Is Glaring For All To See. |
Sorry, but your argument carries NO merit, no matter how much passion you want to put behind it. Let me spoonfeed you. Let me make it realllllly easy for you, ok? Wanting someone to NOT say things like "I want to rip Bill Clinton's eyes out", while making clawing motions in the air, DOES NOT, in any way, shape, or form, equate to wanting a stepford wife. To equate it as such is ignorant on its face. It really is quite that simple, no matter how many words, put downs, or warped logic you want to use. I'm heading to bed, so feel free to post another long ass yet completely inaccurate in concept reply about why a completely knee jerk, void of substance, not related to the OP, totally twisting it out of context, misguided and thoroughly ignorant reply about wanting a stepford wife is something that is thoughtful. I won't be responding. (though I will continue to be laughing, heartily) Nitey nite!
| 234. i am part of ALL and i dont see ignorance. i see insightful. n/t |
| 235. that post was all i was going ot post, until i got to your last line. what did i put, a simple |

Edited on Sun Mar-09-08 12:59 AM by seabeyond
easy to read line. you know, spoonfeed you and make it reeeeeallllly eeeeaassssyyyy. but your last line got me. NOW you are bitching about indepth posts after lots of bitching about short ones.
sleep well
| 243. It makes them ignorant if they're just bullshitting with strawmen |
Edited on Mon Mar-10-08 07:48 AM by spoony
And it makes them idiots if they reply with "you want her to sit in the back of the bus!!!" or some similar thoughtless, errant rubbish. There is a real issue with candidates' spouses saying stupid things (I know people who were turned off Kerry by his wife, for example, and how many threads have there been this cycle about Bill?) and when people post on autopilot like they do so often in GDP by inserting the first inflammatory non sequitor that floats to the top of the sludge in their head, then yes. They're not contributing anything and they're ignorant.
| 236. LOL! I'm more than aware of Michelle Obama's issues. |
That was an attempt at reductive humor. I'm glad you found it amusing.
You apparently missed the point, I'll explain if you'd like.
| 231. agreed. although i dont disagree with her controversial comments |
they are easy pickins for republican distortionists.
| 233. Didn't the GOP say the same thing about Hillary in '92? |
And we (rightly) trounced them for it?
Uppity black woman opinion?
| 238. Why Do You Have To Be Racist? |
This has nothing to do with her being black, or a woman for that matter. Get a grip please.
I am just tired OMC.
REALLY tired.
I simply do not agree with your post.
| 240. Mind-crime indeed, this is the most successful divisive comment I've witnessed yet. |
Let's pit the black guys against the women. How? Muzzle the black woman.
What proof do we have to offer to accomplish it?
None whatsoever... just fuck with them and let them sort it out.
Well done, you've accomplished your goal of fucking with people.
By the way: fuck off.
| 242. What a foolish and repugnant post. One might say if Hillary |
is our nominee we need to get Bill a chastity belt with a heavy lock.
