Yeah. You're absolutely right.
These righty assholes are gonna hate Kerry even more than they hate both Clintons combined. Here's why:
In January 2001, half the country hated The Governor of Texas(well, slightly more than half) and half totally loved him.
Then The Governor of Texas started "being President", which consisted of a bunch of mandateless speeches and allegations that the Gore campaigners removed all the "W"s from WH keyboards (which turned out to be a total fabrication)
Then, 9/11/01 rolled around (luckly for The Governor of Texas all the important shit happened before Condi's scheduled Missle Defense Speech). Suddenly EVERYONE LOVED BUSH! We dismissed the reports of secret Saudi Plane Flights and Chickening Out in Omaha and Rallied Behind Our Governor and Government. We enthusiastically supported the invasion of an Opressive Fundimentalist Dictatorship in Afganistan. After Major Combat Ended there, we still wanted to blow our collective military load elsewhere - Shrub told us that Saddam had WMD and was a direct threat to the US.
"Fuck that guy!" we (by 'we' I mean the collective voting public, not the smarties I find on DU) said, "we shoulda blown him away in '91!" So the Governor of Texas persuaded the intelligence agencies to report that Iraq was dangerous and when France, Germany and about 180 other nations said "no thanks", we said "well, go fuck yourselves! Poland, Spain, El Salvador and Japan are on our side, and we're gonna 'Shock and Awe' yo' asses!"
And that's exactly what we did. By now, most of us Progressives were like: "Uh, what the fuck? This stinks." Unfortunately, the media and the public in general (See Rasmussen, 4/7/04) hasn't seen the light until the beginning of this week.
Anyway, back to my point. The Governor's highest approval ratings were in the high 80's or low 90's. Since then, it's dropped to under half - AND THE RIGHTIES ARE PISSED!
They're pissed that the idiotic electorate could've turned on thier beloved Governor so quickly. As such, they'll come after Kerry so fiercely and with such hatred and vitriol, it'll be almost impossible for the poor man to get ANYTHING done unless the Dems win both the House and Senate. (The House is a pipe dream, I know, but at least a Senate win would keep those loonies in check. Assuming Jeffords can cancel out the gentleman from Georgia.)
So the moral of this story is: Even if you live in a solid Dem state like mine, Massachusetts - or someplace like California or Vermont or Rhode Island or whatever - give to the Kerry Campaign, the Senate and Representative election PACs and even your state and town Democratic officials. Because just electing a Dem Prez won't be enough. We have to turn the system upside down.
That's it. I apologize for the length of my rant.
