This is absolute BS: GOP Convention may shut down NYC main Post Office!
Can you imagine what would happen it the Democratic convention shut down a post office?

============================================

GOP MAY KO P.O.

By LARRY CELONA
April 7, 2004 -- The feds are considering shutting the main James A. Farley Post Office during the four-day Republican National Convention this summer, The Post has learned.

They fear that the block-long facility, at Eighth Avenue and 33rd Street, could be used to launch a terror attack during the gala, which will be held across the street at Madison Square Garden, sources say.

The move would force the U.S. Postal Service to reroute the 1,000 trucks that carry mail into and out of the post office each day.

It would also inconvenience thousands of people who use the facility.

2. I really do fear the GOP convention in NYC. That must be..
the blunder of the century. I can think of only one reason why the GOP hasn't gracefully found a way to change the venue. They must be hoping for the Dem activists to overplay their hands, with outrageous and violents acts that will turn off Democratic voters.

3. They want out of NYC
but they can't find a smooth way to do it. I think they want to be asked to go somewhere else. Shutting down the post office would do it.
