My recurring query re: Plame
The most interesting thing about the Plame affair, to me, wasn't so much who leaked the name to Novak and others, because there were all kinds of likely suspects. I've always wondered who it was - within the White House/administration - who leaked that there WERE leakers. Who had the balls and the integrity to confirm to the WP that Plame had been outed.

For a long time I thought it was Mary Matalin, because of her closeness to the VP office and because she was on the list of those who'd testified before the Grand Jury.

Have changed my mind, though, after listening to Karen Hughes on the Diane Rehm show today. In the midst of another question regarding the attacks on Clarke, she segued, all on her own, to the Plame affair and how wrong it was to have outed her, etc. She has also testified (I think.) Considering that there is evidently no love lost between her and Rove t'wouldn't surprise me at all to learn it was her.

She's still an Almighty Bitch, but it was quite interesting.
