74. Uh ... sorry, not gonna happen
While he might have thought his savior like status would glide him into the nomination, guess what?

The majority of us are not racist/sexist enough to vote for anyone based solely on race or gender ... we're voting for who we think will serve us best.

25. We just lost November.
The GOP is now united and turning their shitslinging machine on us, and we'll be too busy flinging shit at each other for at least seven more weeks to mount a defense.

Rush Limbaugh is laughing right now.

Obama will get the nomination, but after Hillary hits him with more of her venom, he'll be damaged goods by the time the primaries are over.

We should have put it away tonight. We blew it. And now the country will likely pay the price in years of war, raving lunatics on the Supreme Court and possible martial law.

56. That's true up to a point
Up to the point where both of them are creating soundbytes for McCain's general election ads. And up to the point where people get so sick of them slinging mud at one another that McCain seems more palatable and above the fray to independent and swing voter types.

I don't know at what point the marginal benefit of interest in the Democratic race and participation in the Democratic primaries outweighs the marginal cost of shit flinging and infighting. Maybe Pennsylvania, probably no further than North Carolina which represents the outer limits of this contest in my imagination.

But I think there is, ultimately, a point of diminishing returns that we haven't reached yet. A point where other considerations trump the benefit of the extra media attention. As much as it would make for compelling TV for CNN and MSNBC, it's not good for us if this gets decided in South Dakota in June or Denver at the end of August in a (borrowing your analogy) Balboa-Creed style final round where both boxers are knocked down and struggling to get up before the ten count.

46. Laughing? No Happy with tears while he is jumping on the preverbial bed.
This has been the best night for the republican party in 8 years!! Not only did they solidify their position. They have been given the cherished green light to use negitivity and fear mongering to win the election.

NOTHING! NOTHING! could have helped the republicans more than the past few days. Where it has been proven that swiftboating and fear mongering WINS VOTES.

The supers need to flock tomorrow before Clinton is allowed to destroy the party even more.

This is a sad day. Tho there is still great hope that Obama will still have a net gain in delegates from today after most is counted by this time tomorrow.

Yes it is great the clinton will no longer be able to pull the 100 net delegates or so to convince the party who she recently betrayed, That they need to continue to allow this bullshit to continue. Yet even when Clinton exits there the republicans will pick up where Clinton left off meaning Obama will be in for a battle with vicious republicans given the green light by Clinton's tactics to use swiftboating and sick crap to win.

A sad day.

I think Hillary needs to tone it down. The delegate count is close. I think it is early to say wrap this up. If Obama had won in both TX and OH, I think I would be writing differently.

I do think that Clinton needs to rethink her approach, specifically stating that McCain is better than Obama on national security. No matter how you cut it...that is not good for the party.

Draw on your differences...attack McLame for what he is? A lap dog, a shill, a reformer in corporate clothing.
