I am really disappointed in DU these days. the virulence, the ugliness, the hatred, the
venom spewing from so many, has me looking to make sure I haven't, somehow, been transported to that other site.

this all makes me very sad for the future of this party and this country.

The funny thing is the Obama supporters are the first ones to post negative about Clinton every time one of these types of threads are posted.

8. They pretend the nastiness coming from Hillary's campaign isn't real!
Drug dealer, fairy tale, imaginary hip black friend, gang bang, cult, shuck-and-jive, Hispanics
don't vote for black people, Obama is Somalian, Obama meets with former terrorists, all from Hillary's campaign and surrogates.

None of this matters though because Obama talked about Reagan and made a joke about being related to Cheney.

54. Uninformed or intentionally biased
That's what I said. You decide which it is. Facts don't lie. The Clinton campaign lied about student voting in Iowa. They lied about Obama's abortion record in NH. They illegally kept poll watchers out in NH. They had the teacher's union sue in NV. Numerous people in their campaign made racist statements, and now there's the darkened skin in their latest ad. They continue to lie about Canada/NAFTA, even after it's been clarified. It goes on and on and on. Those are the facts. If you choose to ignore them, then you're as intentionally partisan as any Bush supporter.

“There's a world of difference between truth and facts. Facts can obscure the truth.”

Maya Angelou

“Facts do not 'speak for themselves', they are read in the light of theory”

Stephen Jay Gould

You see facts through Obama shaded glasses just like Hillary supporters see facts through Hillary shaded glasses, and anyone stepping out of that narrow definition is like a Bush supporter. Both you and them are mirror images, abhorrent as that may sound to you. And both you and them are certain of yourselves and your takes on the facts. I have no use for either sides interpretations of the "facts"...I read them myself and draw my own conclusion. Sometimes it may agree with you, sometimes with them, but usually somewhere in the middle. If facts are facts there would never be a hung jury in the land.

Sorry if that isn't good enough for you, and maybe it's a little too esoteric for a forum as rabidly myopic as this one.

it was a bit tense here prior to that....but I have seen people just off the walls (including myself) when I see a SUPPOSEDLY progressive person like Hillary not willing to compete with ideas and say "let the better person win" but instead runs around spewing garbage in the hopes she can scare some off of Obama.

You can credit Clinton with this divisiveness reaching such a fever pitch. and it is a prelude to what 4 years of her in the WH would be IF, IF she can beat McCain.

26. My first posts around here, back in 2001 or 2002
Were arguments against the anti-Gore folk, who beleived that Gore was the incarnation of evil, the DLC candidate, the boogeyman under the bed.

Wait around long enough, and those who hate whomever they hate now will love that candidate and hate someone else. There is always hate, there is always love. Those who hate don't stop hating, they just stop hating one person and move on to another. It's always been that way here, always will be. I blame the parents, which probably says something I don't want to know about me. :)

34. Don't look at the screenname, read the insult (if you must)..then move on
Edited on Tue Mar-04-08 03:10 PM by SoCalDem
If you cannot rememeber who insulted you, it's hard to hold a grudge..

Lots of people are just all wound-up, and are lashing out at anyone..even their online, anonymous pals...

I am a forgiving person, so I issue blanket-absolution, and don't particularly care to know/remember who insulted me for having my own opinion :)

44. Some people see not their own stinkiness.
Nor that in which they side with.

45. As have some Clinton supporters. The blame can be spread all around and you know it.
You're pretty much reinforcing the OP.

43. a young man at my work....
Who self identifies as "independent" but seems to be leaning democratic in this election sees me read this site and says "Oh your on angrydemocrat.com again huh?"

And i cant help but laugh because he is SO right.

He also says that the messages he reads here badly turn him off so he has stopped reading it. I've lurked for 4 years and some times I'm not sure why I still come here, maybe its like horror movies --- its so bad you can't help but peek?

peace

53. There are real issues on the table.
True, most of the venom should go toward the GOP, especially the Bushistas. But some NEEDS to land on the Dem enablers of the Bushistas -- as one of the candidates has been.

There, I didn't name names.

58. Thank you
I have been thinking the very same thing.

I have seen vitriol from the supporters of both current candidates and it seems to be escalating into something truly ugly.

I keep checking to make sure I've not wandered onto another site....the only thing that reminds me that I am in the "right" place is the fact that people here can spell and generally use language in a coherent way.
