I'm about ready to send some of you to bed without your supper!
One benefit of becoming an old fart is that one normally gains some perspective on events. That said, I would like to remind some of you that the primaries are called 'the silly season' for a reason: people who are customarily sane, intelligent and level-headed suddenly become raving, ranting, frothing-at-the-mouth LUNATICS in support of their candidate or in attacking their candidate's opponent. Thus has it always been...

Were some alien being to suddenly land on Earth and begin reading some GD-P posts, he/she/it would very likely get the impression that two extremely EVIL, WICKED people were in a fight-to-the-death, no-holds-barred, locked steel-cage knife fight; the only confusing thing would be trying to decide which person was evil and which one was wicked. That's how silly some of the posts here are and were you to but take a step back, take a deep breath and read them objectively, (assuming that you've not forgotten how to do so), you'd see that. It's also the reason why I just want to send some of you to bed without your supper!

I'm going to leave you with two thoughts, and take them for what they're worth:

1.) The object of this whole exercise is NOT to see your candidate win the nomination at all costs-- the object is TO WIN BACK THE WHITE HOUSE IN NOVEMBER and return governance of this great republic to ALL of her people, where it properly belongs.

2.) John McCain will not only fail to accomplish #1, supra, he is also NOT FIT TO LICK EITHER SEN. CLINTON'S OR SEN. OBAMA'S BOOTS! The damage you inflict on either Sen. Clinton or Sen. Obama today may well help fuel the Rethuglican attack machine tomorrow.

Try to keep the BIG PICTURE in mind, would you, please?

Thanks for listening...

:hi:

Some of the posts here lately could well have been written by Karl Rove-- they're that bad.

We should let the passion of youth play out at DU (it played out in my body ten years ago!)

5. Greetings, Fellow Old Fart
I am reading too many posters who can see no further than the tip of their nose when it comes to the consequences of their divisive language. Many have never voted before, so they haven't a clue what to expect any way you slice it.

Some seem to believe they are assets to their candidate, not exactly the "ass" word I have in mind when I listen to the rabid slobber and sychophancy.

Today will get itself over. And I've heard the "underdog" say it's just begun.

So it will become worse. And the Republican Party is getting exactly what it wants.

10. With all due respect to your post, and to Democrats in general
there is something more important to me than winning the White House for democrats,
and that is integrity. Hillary Clinton has fouled the process, this is my opinion.
I do not want to see her elected under any circumstances.
If she happens to get the nomination, I'll be bidding adieu and voting my conscience.

16. One must do as one's conscience dictates.
I would only ask that you consider the very real import and consequences of a McCain presidency. I very much appreciate the civil tone of your response.

1. I'm with you up until the hooey about "the people." That ain't happening. Not in America.

2. Do you mean "boots" or "butts"?

17. I meant "boots", but "butts" wil also work...
The ' hooey about "the people" ' may or may not happen, but is certainly FAR more likely to happen with a Clinton or Obama administration than with a McCain administration.

Peace.
