5. Obama's denials were very flat
he could have qualified his denials, like by saying "i'm not aware of any meeting..."

But he didn't, he flatly denied that any meeting took place. I actually believed him and wondered how CTV screwed up so bad.

Since he chose to deny the meeting so flatly, he is open to charges of lying.

6. If Obama truly believed no one from his campaign made such a
statement, it's not a lie. The bottom line is, Hillary and Barack have essentially identical NAFTA positions. That, of course, doesn't play well when you're running a Republican-style campaign.

9. there's no way to know what he truly believed
we have to decide how much we believe him. I think it's reasonable to speculate that he was lying.

10. That rationale would work for Senator Clinton's IWR vote
If Senator Clinton truly believed the misinformation from the Bush Administration, then her IWR vote becomes more understandable.

7. Sorry for him not speaking in wishy-washy lawyer talk like Clinton

I fail to see how Obama could have an omnipresent view of every person in his staff, and I think most people understand that.

8. there's a reason why politicians talk wishy-washy
it's because they don't want to look like they're lying in case the full story gets out.

It looks like Obama gambled that the memo wouldn't come out, and he lost the gamble. The price is that it looks like he is lying.

He would have been better off being wishy-washy.

11. I'm tried of politicians acting like that
Plus there's no proof Obama knew of this memo. I don't know how Goolsbee could have even known about it. If anything we should be amazed by how a Canadian memo was leaked to influence our primary.
