I learned of John McCain's "al Qaeda in Iraq" dig and Barack Obama's response in the same top-of-the hour radio news broadcast.

This guy knows how to play. Just beautiful.

2. Joe Scarborough responded to Obama...
...pointing out that "al Qaeda in Iraq" started after the US invasion by saying:

Joe Scarborough: "while a lot of people in Manhattan and Georgetown and on college campuses are worried about what happened in 2002 and the lead up to the war, Americans are concerned about what’s happening now."

speak for anybody but joe. How about both, joe? Can Americans think past and present at the same time and come to a conclusion?

35. Real Amerikuns know the past is completely detached from the present and the future.
In fact, to consider the past as relevant at all is anti-patriotic:crazy:

3. even better
Obama used Bush's comments from this morning's press conference and worked it into a rally a few hours later. (Bush told reporter he had not heard gas was predicted to hit $ 4.00 per gallon when asked about it. Obama later said "how could you not have known that, he's out of touch" etc)
It was instantaneous!

4. I'll never understand why it took so long for a presidential Dem
to figure this out -- this immediate response game.

It's like the rest of them had/have a habit of picking up newspapers every few weeks.

13. Or maybe he's the first presidential candidate we've had who uses the internet
as most of us do - daily, and often. This allows him to keep up with the latest things being said
and to go out and respond to them immediately. I love it!!

39. I was thinking that DU should have an immediate-response forum.
It could be aimed at quickly researching and responding to the attacks in real time.

I doubt the Dem candidate's campaign would actually pay attention, but it would be fun to pretend.

33. When do you suppose?
When do you suppose the last time was that the fuck put gas in his truck? He likely hasn't gassed up a vehicle since it was $0.85 a gallon, if then.

36. Obama and his people have studied what's worked in the past
This is a page from Bill Clinton's playbook rapid response playbook.

He's also studied and refined the use of the Internet pioneered by Howard Dean's campaign.

They've also studied what has not worked and learned from them.

So far so good.

The system worked - who would have guessed

Also along the same lines Obama has gone thru 20 debates and the last 5 were very brutal. He has gotten so much better. McCain really has no experience in debates at that level. With only 3-4 debates in the general they should be very entertaining.

18. Obama is naive....all mccain would have to say is, Senator
Edited on Fri Feb-29-08 12:50 AM by BenDavid
Obama enjoys telling the world time and time again he was against the invasion back in 2002, and I think we get it.....but Senator Obama that means nothing if you were to become president. You will have to play the hand you are dealt and personally I do not think you have the experience.....That's it....

and I personally would like to see HRC say this to Obama. Cause at least she has left the door open because she will listen to the Generals on the ground and the Joint Chiefs and go from there. If Obama gets the presidency and unless he wants a revolution within the military he better listen to his military folks are they will revolt on him......

23. Bush has faced constant opposition from the generals
They hate this war even more than the American public does. They will be thrilled if Obama provides the political cover for us to get out. Thanks for your concern, but I rate this a non-issue.

:hi:

Oh, and by the way, we will be hanging the deeply unpopular Iraq war around McCain's neck in this election. As a prowar Democrat, you're probably going to have a lot of uncomfortable moments over these next months. But I had to vote for Kerry last time even though he voted in favor of the IWR -- it's just the way the wheel turns. I hope you don't take it too personally.

you've made that clear, but you are so wrong. If that's the best McCain can do, he's toast. And you aren't informing yourself: Obama has made it quite clear that he'll listen to the Joint Chiefs. Pay attention. Keep up.

32. I guarantee Obama already has 3 responses for anything...
...McCain might throw at him. McCain is on the offensive right now because he has to- he has so much baggage that the only chance he has is to start slinging the mud now and hope something sticks. Because once the American people become reminded of some of the things McCain has done (i.e. Keating, Cindy McCain, etc), it's lights out. Or at least it should be. Remember the electorate is one that chose George Bush not once but twice.
