Bigotry. . . what is it good for. . .?
There was a Far Side cartoon from years ago. It had God in his kitchen wearing a chef's hat.

On the shelves were cannisters labeled "white people," yellow people,' black people," and "native people."

And god stood over the cauldron with a pepper shaker labeled "jerks" uttering "And now just to make it interesting."

I can't believe our country has regressed to such a state of idiotic bigotry. When there are good people and misguided people of all lands and origins.

I thought we transcended this long ago.

Hope we will again soon.

1. we're working on it now......
dragging it all out from under the sink, so that we can pour some bleach on it and kill at least 95% of the offending germ!

9. Oh, that's really rich, coming from someone who supports...
the first dem presidential candidate in my lifetime to actually promote an anti-gay homophobic bigot, give him a mic and a stage to spew anti-gay bigotry for 30 minutes. YOUR candidate has the singular distinction of advancing bigotry in this country, not helping eliminate it. The only thing he is working on is promoting it.

3. Bigotry...what is it good for...?
Absolutely nothing.

I like the depiction of your cartoon, but, I'm sad to say we really do have a lot of absolute "jerks" in our country.

Peace:thumbsup:

5. Here ya go!

I love this one. I've always said that no matter the color of skin, no matter where you want to draw your imaginary lines through society, there are jerks in every group, without fail!

7. A black and female in the running for Democratic Presidential Candidate...
...is inevitably going to raise old hackles, ones which require pruning through exposure to the dreaded unknown...

8. My dream is that someday the color of a person's skin won't matter.
Humanity is able to make changes. I often think of how marriages used to be arranged and how that would be absolutely unimaginable in large parts of the world today. I remember Polish jokes being widely accepted during the first couple of decades of my life. I never hear them today. (I think that this happened around the time that Catholicism got a Polish Pope.) :)

Let's hope that we ultimately get there in reference to race as well.

10. Oh you're such a dreamer.
Me too.

I never thought we'd see such a regressive resurgence of bigotry and homophobia.

But guess what. . . ?

The younger folks are overwhelmingly not buying into it at all.

Perhaps because a wombat told them not to.

I can't post that link enough.

:hi:

Am feeling especially cartoony today

11. Have they changed to blonde jokes?
When I grew up they were "Aggie" jokes. I moved away from Texas so I am not sure if people still tell Aggie jokes.

Now people tell blonde jokes that are offensive. I'm not blonde but two of my daughters are blonde and they don't appreciate these jokes.

Maybe we could substitute "neocons." How many neocons does it take to change a light bulb, etc., etc.?

12. I agree. I don't like blonde jokes either.
:(

I'm a brunette, but I hate mean jokes. There's no humor in "mean".
