I'm jaded
I think I must be old, at least, when it comes to politics. Back in 1992, when Clinton ran and fought hard and became the come-back kid, I was so enthused that a Democrat might finally get the Whitehouse again and turn the country around. And, you know what? He did. He turned the economy around, which is always my biggest interest. He made some mistakes and he lied about sex. Hillary worked hard to get better health care, but it was derailed by special interests and the GOP. But the economy was great. My salary was up up and away. Ever since W started running in 2000, my salary has stagnated. The economy has gone into the toilet. We went to war against the wrong country based on lies.

Well, I really hope Obama wins and really gets some things done and turns the country around like Bill did.

But, I know reality. He will face a firestorm of corporate media propaganda that will make Drudge's dress-up picture look like nothing. We know that. In fact, McCain is getting mainstream advice to attack him on race already! Out in the open. Sheesh! If he still wins the Presidency, he will have a little honeymoon, and then face all kinds of blocking measures by the GOP. They will not let up. They will jump on any bad news in the war or the economy and blame him. And lie lie lie! Maybe his great communication skills will see him through. Lets hope.

I guess, I'm too jaded to be that optimistic about a man who seems like he has such potential, but is still a politician. I also trust NO politician, and will always consider any pol. of the main parties, the lessor of two evils.

This is just my jaded way of thinking. Sorry.

1. We do what we can. And we have to keep up the pressure from the grassroots.
NEVER put all your faith in a politician, or a party. But be optimistic about what might be accomplished if enough of us demand it.

I remember the 1960 election and Kennedy. JFK was not an effective president. But his presidency, and death, ushered in short-term effectiveness under Johnson: Medicare, Medicaid, Older Americans Act, Voting Rights Act, and other reforms, all in one year -- much of it all in one summer.

But, as I say, never trust the politician: within that year, Johnson was beginning to perpetrate the Great Betrayal of the progressive movement in the Democratic Party by escalating the Vietnam War.
