or so you would think... If they claim that not placing your hand over your heart during the National Anthem is a sign that you are not patriotic, then they must think that Kyle Petty, Jeff Gordon, Jeremy Mayfield, Bobbie LaBonte and 75% of NASCAR fans at the California race are unpatriotic.

I know it might not work for everyone, but it would make a point in my rural Ohio, Nascar-lovin crowd. I watched the start of the race a little bit ago and took note of who did and did not have their hand over their heart. Of all the drivers they showed, only Jeff Burton did. I don't remember who else they showed but I do remember the ones I listed above.

§171. Conduct during playing
During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should render the military salute at the first note of the anthem and retain this position until the last note. When the flag is not displayed, those present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed there.

I expect better from ALL of them, regardless of party stripe.

Obama should know better, just like * should know better.
