4. Yesterday in San Antonio
Obama was talking about the Pharm. Lobbyist, and that their profits don't go into research,
but instead, they make commercials, showing people in a field, you know what I'm talking about.
Bringing humor to the people, along with his message.
You do need to Pray:rofl:

7. Personally, I don't see much to covet there.
She usually looks angry about something or other. Except when BHO's giving a victory speech, at which time she's thinking about how sweeeeeeeeeeeet it's gonna be to redecorate the White House.

Oh, and I'm sorry that until now, for her entire adult life, this is the first time she's been proud of her country.

11. American politics makes just about anyone unappealing, imho
Sure, some people are attracted to power (how else can we explain Tom Delay screwing around), but I can't think of anyone in American politics that I find particularly appealing on a "personal" level.

14. I think she's beautiful and genuine.
And I haven't had much reason to be too proud of America in my adult life, but while I mean that, I don't think Michelle did - pretty sure she just misspoke. It happens.

18. Loving america right now is sort of like loving your son that has just been convicted of rape
Edited on Wed Feb-20-08 12:42 PM by Political Heretic
You love your son, you know all of the good potential in him, you remember him when he was kind and full of promise - but you're ashamed of what he has done, heartbroken over it and wonder how to ever heal the wounds.

That's a pretty accurate comparison to how I feel about my country now. I'll never stop loving it, but I'm pretty heartbroken over what its done, and I wonder where we can go from here.

20. You can spin it if you like, but I SAW what she said
And Pukes don't have exclusive rights to patriotism. I personally found it offensive. And I'm a loyal Democrat. I suspect that a lot of folks outside the far left and the Obama cult were offended also. That is going to be played over and over in the GE. Bet on it.

You can whine then, but she said what she said. Or as some would put it, "it is what it is."

No apology to accept.

21. Patriotism doesn't have anything to do with what you're describing.
"Man is the only Patriot. He sets himself apart in his own country, under his own flag, and sneers at the other nations, and keeps multitudinous uniformed assassins on hand at heavy expense to grab slices of other people's countries, and keep them from grabbing slices of his. And in the intervals between campaigns he washes the blood of his hands and works for "the universal brotherhood of man"- with his mouth."

"The soul and substance of what customarily ranks as patriotism is moral cowardice--and always has been."

Mark Twain

17. But you know ... I think there's an angle that we can "work with" there?
For the first time in my adult life, I'm ashamed of the pettiness exuded by Cindy McCain.

... feel free to extrapolate! :-)
