"I'm hoping that Nader enters the race".
"At least McCain is real".

"Obama people are not Democrats".

Yep, those are just three quickly grabbed quotes from so-called loyal Democrats at DU tonight who can't stand the fact that their candidate didn't win in Wisconsin. Well I have news for everyone who needs to spread hatred and anger here tonight. Anyone who chooses to vote for Nader or McCain over Obama or Clinton is no Democrat, and anyone here who sits out the election because they think that only their candidate can save this country is no Democrat. Hell, I've been siding with losing Democratic candidates for the last twenty years but I've still always managed to get my pouting ass off the couch and get to the polls to vote for a Democrat come November. Try campaigning for Simon, Tsongas, Bradley, Dean and Edwards before you consider throwing a tantrum all over the internet in an attempt to spread your frustration and anger. I figure if I'd actively campaigned for Bill he would have lost to Dole in '96.

If anyone does, I understand the pain of watching "the best" candidate lose. Even so, there will be a Democrat on the ballot in November and I hope that the majority here can figure out how important it is to get off the couch and vote for them.

3. It's also disgusting that a thread bashing a Democrat makes it to the front page.
While this one drops like a rock. What does that tell you about the "Democrats" here?

4. I'll vote for the Dem candidate
Edited on Tue Feb-19-08 11:54 PM by NastyRiffraff
However, although I'm not excusing those who praise McCain or say that Obama supporters aren't Democrats, possibly it's a reaction to the vitrol of some of the sore winners on these boards tonight. On top of a tough loss, some of those nastily gloating posts were the last straw, even for people who usually avoid the slime that's slung around here.

I'll vote for Obama if he wins the nomination, which it looks like he will do. I don't particularly like him; I don't like his style; I don't trust him; and believe me, if he gets to the White House I'm going to hold his feet to the fire. But yes, I'll vote for the Democratic nominee.

7. I know what it's like to listen to the winning cadidate's supporters gloat.
However, assuming we're all adults here, we're old enough to understand that just because a supporter is an asshole it doesn't make the candidate one as well. I don't really like either of the candidates left standing but, like my name states, the last one standing is the one I'll be voting for. :)

6. This is exactly what the Hillary supporters were predicting
Except they were predicting this behavior from the Hillary detractors. I remember quite a few posts slavering at the thought of Skinner handing out Tombstones to anyone who dared criticize Her Inevitableness.

Time to suck it up, Hillaroids! Your candidate lost, now get behind our nominee like you told all of us to do!

If they are not going to support the Democratic candidate Obama or Hillary why are they here?

10. I think taking a trip to freeperville would be the very best thing these people could do.
It just might clue them into who the real enemy is. I might not like our candidates now, but I hate the thought of another repub continuing bush's* rape of the people in this country and the world. I know where I'll be in November and who I'll vote for - and it won't be third party or repub.

24. Also...that Nader comment is silly...
Given McCain has basically sailed into the nomination with a dependency on independent support, and the fact that Nader does well among Independents, it would probably actually end up helping our candidate if he ran.

I no longer support a candidate during the primaries. I just watch and wait and support the nominee. They are all the same anyway. Or I might give vocal support and some money to the candidate with the best ideas like Edwards (even though he will not win) on principle.

I'd have, like, a bunch of nickels or something.

Making a big stink about stupid shit said by this supporter or that supporter doesn't really add anything of value to the discussion, however.

I'm getting more and more disgusted with the tone this forum has taken in the last few months. Now, there are some people calling anyone who doesn't support Obama a racist. It's downright scary here.

calling Kerry "Lurch"

bringing up Chappaquiddick on Kennedy

and to be fair...

Bringing up Monica on Bill.

Amazing how Dems sound just like freepers when criticizing the not so loyal opposition.

Meanwhile, proof? Who needs proof? This is primary season, baby. We don't need no stinkin' proof.

39. I'm an Edwards supporter but I don't need to call other candidates' supporters racist.
And you might not need proof for a lot of things, but racism is serious stuff. To accuse someone of that is too serious to make jokes about. Doing so lessens the severity of the situation when someone really is racist.

I need to take a break from this place. I've been away for about a week, and I should have made it longer. I'm tired, I'm stressed, I'm pissy, I'm sick of the incivility, and but there I went and added to it.

Here's to hoping this place improves again after primary season.

Again, sorry.
