Geez, listening to Randi Rhodes makes me want to give up!
All I hear is that your vote will not be counted. Your vote doesn't matter. Your vote is unimportant. Your vote has been disenfranchised.

The Super Delegates will split the party and no one will win.

Does this woman have not a positive thing to say? I think I give up and I just turned her OFF.

:argh:

Any others out there feel the same way? :(

Talk radio is 99% crap!

3. you are so right
the Bernie Ward situation really finished me off with almost all talk radio. The only person I still listen to is Ray Taliaferro.

Glad I am not alone!

10. When AA came on the air in 2004,
I thought it would be the greatest thing for us. Now, I wish that all of them would go off the air.
From Rush and Savage to Rhodes and Schultz.
They are all bad.

I'm on the East Coast and he comes on at 4 a.m.

He's terrific.

37. I listen to him via the archives
http://bayradio.com/kgo_archives/test.php

They have them set up for a 7 day run now. I listen to him when I get up (he is on for four hours - 1-5 a.m. PST Monday-Friday). Thank god for Ray anyway! He tends to be upbeat and good for a great laugh quite often.

6. yes, she is most depressing
I do not understand why she never has ONE positive thing to say. I also do not like the way she speaks to some of her callers.

She loves flirting with the men I've noticed and making that *pop* sound with her mouth. Don't women ever call her?

4. I started out listening to Al Franken
and then Randi on Air America.

My first political board was the Randi Rhodes Message Board ( RRMB ), but realized I outgrew it quickly.

I outgrew Randi as well, as her sense of ego was so high. I'm not missing anything.

And I listened to the morning show when they first went on the air & occasionaly Janeane Garofalo. When Franken left I just drifted away. I never cared for Randi much.

11. If That's What She's Saying Then She's Really Being An Idiot.
The superdelegates are part of this, and even if they have some power to sway the vote one way or the other OUR VOTES STILL MATTERED. Our votes caused all the other candidates to drop out. Our votes have made this a close enough race that the superdelegates could actually matter. At the end of the day, the race will be so close that the voice of the people was that BOTH candidates were good enough and supported enough to run in the GE, and THAT'S what the primaries are all about in choosing a candidate. Having superdelegates have a say DOES NOT take that voice away whatsoever. Anyone repeating the whole "rob the election! steal the vote! Voices won't be heard!" meme is just simply an idiot, because they're acting as if one of the candidates has like a 20% lead or something, and the superdelegates are going to give it to the other one. No, that's not the case we're seeing here. What we see is a virtual deadlock of support, even if one does edge out the other by a little, and then the party insiders will have a bit of their say as well. It's a combined selection used towards picking the candidate, and the votes and voices ABSOLUTELY mattered. That's why edwards is out, kucinich is out, dodd is out, richardson is out, biden is out etc. We're left with two, and the voters support each enough that they would take EITHER as the candidate, based on how close the race is. But the way the process is set up the sd's have a say, which I actually agree with, but that's only relevant when the public has spoken in equal degrees as they have here. If there was REAL public support for one candidate that SIGNIFICANTLY set them apart from the other candidate, then it would be robbery if all the SD's stood together and gave it to someone else. But some need to accept the reality that isn't going on here. We have a dead heat race, and it is perfectly fine for the sd's to have their voices heard as well, since that's how the primaries work. Anyone thinking a race of 50-49% by vote, much of which is from bullshit unfair caucuses, would be 'stolen' if the SD's gave it to the 49%, are just being naive, uneducated and moronic in my opinion. It's a process. The SD's are part of that process. If one candidate had any significant support over the other, this wouldn't be an issue. But that's not the case. Both candidates are virtually equally supported and popular, so this time around the sd's votes matter more than usual. But that's not robbery. That's simply the process. Randi's being an idiot here.

33. Why do you call them "bullshit unfair caucuses" mine was more fair
than bullshit secret vote counts. In my caucus all that happened was they said go stand under your candidate's sign. The only confusion came because there were so many Obama supporters that we actually had to file by the moderator one by one to get the vote count right. Then for about 30 seconds we seemed to be one vote too many and it turned out a Hillary voter got counted twice. That is it... write it down, each side picked who their delegates to the state convention were (we picked names out of a hat) and done. What is bullshit about that? It sure looked like Democracy to me.

in its 'talk radio hosts' ratings.

I won't get to hear her much until spring/summer. She's on a weak AM out of Ann Arbor and their signal dies out in the early afternoon.

that is quite the drop. I guess I am not the only one that is sick of her. I have not been a great fan of hers ever really. I think I'll start listening to Guy James again on Tues-Thursday from 12:00-2:00. He's a smart man with lots of good information and positive things to say when appropriate. Guy is also very realistic and no doubt a true Democrat. Too bad Guy James doesn't have much of an audience. I'm glad his archives are still to be found on the White Rose Society's website. :)

Thom is upbeat and postive without being "Polly-Ann"ish. You guys should check him out for a breath of fresh air.

I'd also love to hear Sam Sedar daily. I really miss listening to him and Al Franken. Al Franken was very educational BUT he would not give any creedence at all to the stolen elections of 2000 and 2004.

38. I don't listen to Randi much either anymore
I'm another ex RRMBer... and that board left a bad taste in my mouth vis a vis Air America, Randi herself etc...

But because there is a thread out there on this, I flipped her on for a bit today...

A long time ago, she once coined a great phrase: "The primaries are when you fall in love. The GE is when you fall in line" or some such.

She's upset right now and very "negative" because she senses that folks won't "Fall in line" due to the animosity that has grown between these two camps. She said it herself tonight about the ability of the Democratic Party to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. She's right and history proves her right (Kerry/Gore etc).

Randi wants one thing and one thing only: Democratic (and hopefully progressive) control of congress and the presidency. If that means a Hillary ticket, she will support her wholeheartedly. If that means an Obama ticket, she will do the same.

She is a Clinton supporter from way back. Years past she used to gush about the fact that she met Bill and Hillary etc..

At the same time she has repeatedly called Bill on the biggest mistake of his presidency which was the participation in the deregulation of the media - which has gotten us into this mess in the first place! The ironies abound!

For more information on the deregulation of the media see:

http://www.politicsandculture.net/media-deregulation-er... /

In reality, the Act ushered in a telecommunications monopoly where a few companies provided all the telecommunications services. Economist and author, Jeremy Rifkin refers to the 1996 Act as, A landmark piece of legislation that opened the media field to new competitors, including the large regional telephone companies and cable companies.

Since 1996, and that landmark piece of legislation, mainstream media is controlled by a handful of corporations who have neither the incentive nor the desire to provide accurate information to the American public whom they purport to serve. The sad fact of the matter is that both the Republicans and Democrats created a media monopoly. While Reagan began the process, Clinton put the final nails in the proverbial coffin.

Randi has gone on about this repeatedly in the last many years so even though she is a fan, she calls them on their shit when necessary.

Y'all know that I'm a Clinton supporter and that I believe that she is the best of the remaining choices but I agree with Randi that this piece of legislation is one of the most damaging to democracy in the last many years. It's because of that legislation that a very few people can decide which candidates merit media attention and can determine the "meme" to be followed when following a candidacy. It can be argued that it is because of this legislation that Obama is getting a 'pass' by the media today.

So even though I'm a bit bitter about Randi and her board etc... I have to agree with her negativity these days and give her the nod re: fairness. She calls bullshit no matter who is slinging it from what I've heard from her over the years.

Another more cynical way to look at it is this: She is staying on the fence right now and crapping all over everyone due to ratings. She doesn't want to alienate a large part of her audience by overtly siding with one over the other once the nomination is made.

Anyway, some food for thought from an ex-Randi fan...

39. Air America got old for me after only a few sessions
At first it was exciting to have a counterpunch to the right wing idiots on the airwaves, but too often the shows became nothing much more than one of the rightwing shows, only in reverse, with the screaming and extremist rants. Some of the rants were great, but so many others just plain got old and weary.

I can understand how Right Wing hate radio works for the no-minded neocon imbeciles who can't think for themselves, but I can't understand how any independent-thinking adults could ever get hooked for too awful long on any kind of biased talk radio, including Air America.

Because Progressives are much more intelligent and independent minded than Repukes, I don't think Liberal radio will ever have as large an audience as rightwing hate radio does.

I would much rather see us get a TV station that offers an option to Fox News and its affiliate, MSNBC.
